  1. This just seems odd. From the label. Applications wood, plastic, metal and rubber surfaces. Use in moist and harsh enviornments. Not for use as an appeaence cleaner or on paint Plastic Safe No My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. How could the FAA impose a fine on a DZ? They can take action against a pilot. By enforcing Part 105 § 105.3____ Definitions. For the purposes of this part— Parachute operation means the performance of all activity for the purpose of, or in support of, a parachute jump or a parachute drop. This parachute operation can involve, but is not limited to, the following persons: parachutist, parachutist in command and passenger in tandem parachute operations, drop zone or owner or operator, jump master, certificated parachute rigger, or pilot. § 105.17 Flight visibility and clearance from cloud requirements. No person may conduct a parachute operation, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow a parachute operation to be conducted from that aircraft— (a) Into or through a cloud, or My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. I call bull shit. You are in denial if you think no sign means you can trespass. If all these sites are so legal why do you delete a post that mentions a BASE site? Like I said I could care less one way or the other. You don't have to convince me I am not your mother. You have to convince the judge. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  4. The point I am trying to make is you have been jumping for 2 years, you should not get on an airplane without knowing what is on your back. You are no longer a student, you need to start being responsible for yourself. Part of that is knowing what kind of gear you are jumping and maybe even pack it your self. 5. It is my relatively educated opinion that the majority of the world's BASE jumps are made legally. There are illegal skydives (for example, using BASE gear). There are legal BASE jumps. Why not focus on the legality, if that's what concerns you, rather than the type of parachuting?Quote Again I agree with you, there are illegal skydives made all the time. But they very seldom get the media coverage that a BASE jump gone bad does. My original post was in response to MattM’s “Its not illegal to BASE jump”. That’s like saying it is not illegal to drive at 150 mph in a school zone. It is just illegal to get caught. BASE jumpers act like cloak and dagger people from the cold war talking in whispers and code. Then claim what they do is not illegal. If its not what are they hiding from whom? Since I have retired from active jumping it doesn’t mean a thing to me one way or the other. But it seems that quite a few BASE people need to convince themselves doing something on someone else’s property against their wishes is perfectly legal. Maybe they should be more up front and admit, yea what I do is illegal but it sure is fun. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. Just a couple of points: What is a Vector 290? Have never heard of it. Why did you jump rig without knowing what the reserve was? You cracked a rib, so your PLF was less then perfect. It sounds like on point of contact was you side not your back. This probably put an elbow into your ribs. As for your decision on the cutaway, as has been mentioned already you were the only one there. You have to go with the knowledge and experience you leave the airplane with. My rule of thumb is more than one line broken or damage involving a seam chop it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. Thank you Sparky! I'll try to find these. Stuart Try Para Gear. http://www.paragear.com/default.asp My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  8. You can't be serious. Its not illegal to base jump... its illegal to trespass on to other peoples property. And you end up in the same cell and "Skydiving" gets the black eye. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. Good for you for posting the good with the bad.
  10. A good place to start is Pointer's Parachute Manual, Vol. I & II. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. There is no "legal" deployment height. USPA has minimum opening altitudes but they are not law. If BASE jumping is not illegal how come so many people get arrested doing it? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. You are right. Thats just the thing that makes you more of a burden. The picture looks like a Chia Pet with a Bud.
  13. Yep. Me. People doing unpredictable sashaying turns, no matter how 'not sharp' their turns are when they are in the landing pattern, particularly below 200ft is dangerous whether you have 10 or 100 canopies in the air. I for one have had to make flat and flare turns at very low altitudes to avoid some numpty making a non-sharp turn just to land that bit closer to the runway crossing point. Happily our accuracy jumpers have their own area to play in...
  14. Hey, never jumped an orange rig Thank you.
  15. I gave you several reasons you were wrong but it seems you choose to ignore them. One of the factors would be the fill time; this will make the peak force greater on a smaller canopy. A canopy deployment does not consist of just a single factor. It is a dynamic event and involves many actions happening very quickly. Changing one will affect the outcome of the others. Don’t try to over simplify it. It must be analyzed in its entirety. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. Don't lie to Mick, you have no friends. Ummmm, while it may be true that I have no friends, that's not my post. Time to get that old timers disease checked out. Maybe you hung it up just in time, I'll see you in the rec room at the home next week!!, I'll be the one with the type three bound-cordura checkers board using slider stops as checkers!!! Mick. You senile old fart, I was talking to Bob C.
  17. I fail to see where you have provided information on anything other then you ego. You seem to be about belittling others for trying to inform and still other for just having an opinion. Your arrogance as the self appointed guardian of WFFC is obscuring any valid message you may have had. Sad My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  18. To quote a previous post: "A swing and a miss." The man is from another country and a visitor to the US and WFFC. It is not his job to play DZ sheriff. There is someone who is running the WFFC as a business and making money from it. Do think it might be his job to run things is a safe manner? I am beginning to think that you might have a vested interest in sweeping possible problems under the carpet. And we wonder why so much of the world looks at us as arrogant assholes. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  19. I am going to assume you meant a round canopy. No, have never done a demo with a round parachute. For the last 15/20 years I used a 245 Sharpchuter with a split slider and separated stabilizers. Very stable in sink and it can fly backwards.
  20. Its been tried and didn't work for shit. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. First of all I want to apologize if I appeared to be jumping your shit. You were just a target of opportunity. As I said in my post, when there is chaos on this subject you are usually the voice of reason. So ... this message is directed at the swoopers ... No, I don’t think your message is for swooper. It is for the wanna-be swoopers. The ones that can’t be bothered learning the basics before going big. Again as I posted before, the really good swoopers are not a problem; they have the tools, maturity and common sense to know when and where to swoop. And they gained their abilities without endangering others just to look cool. I think we are about the same thing. Enjoy what you do but don’t take away the enjoyment of others. Have fun at the boogey. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  22. Is there a reason you would want to go with a Falcon for a reserve? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. For the sake of accuracy he did not say he viewed all swooper as anything. He said 300-jump wonder that thinks he ready. You are usually the voice of reason in these sometimes-heated discussions, don’t disappoint me now. The jumper that Larry mentioned is a good friend of mine also. And I am pissed. There is no excuse or justification for what happened to him. He was standing still in a landing area that 80 + jumpers can and have landed in many time without incident. If there is only one landing area available it is open to everyone. Non-swoopers and swoopers alike. If there are several canopies in the air trying to land in the one landing area there are no swooping lanes. Doing a HP landing in congested air space is not part of their “freedom of choice”. We are not talking about a swooping competition, we are talking about a laid back mid week load where some asshole felt he had to show how big his dick is and almost killed someone on the ground. This was not some near miss from doing slow “S” turns this was coming through the main landing area at a speed that would get him a ticket in a school zone. Perris is home to some of the best swoopers and canopy pilots in the world. But I have never seen one of them involved in a controversial situation in the main landing area. It always some asshole that thinks he is a swooper and believes it is his right to set his own risk level. Well everyone’s rights stop when they affect the safety of others. As you have said it is a 2 way street. But I have never seen a big ole accuracy canopy doing “S” turns do anything but incontinence someone who thinks it is his right to swoop anywhere anytime. They are big and slow, drive around them. Rant over. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  24. Don't lie to Mick, you have no friends. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  25. And that would do nothing but show how immature you are. They are burying their daughter, what is your excuse? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
