  1. Because right or wrong if something does bring the rig into question by the FAA I am going to spend a lot of time explaining that "they are big boys and girls and they can make their own decisions" When they continue to make poor decisions in other areas of skydiving why would you expect them to change on this. 2. The really scary thing is that most of these stories are true.
  3. Yes you did pay for the damn thing and you are entitled to use it anytime you want. You just can't use it with my seal on it if it expires before the repack. That is my choice and not up to you the FAA or anyone else. And this is the reason I would not pack it. I feel there are too many people who would ignore the fact that the AAD is out of date and jump the rig anyway. And with my seal on it. When it come right down to it, a rigger can refuse to pack a rig because he does not like the color. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  5. One of the problems is very few jumpers understand the difference between "staging" and "metering". My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. There is only one answer. Pack it without the old AAD. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  8. It’s one more attempt to gain market share by changing one component of a proven system. I fail to see any "big step" in any direction. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  9. Don't believe everything you read on the internet.
  10. Derek, A double or even a triple stowed band is still attached to the bag at only two points. It takes the same pressure to break whether single, double or triple stowed. It is harder for the stows to release the more wraps you use but not break. See attachments. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  11. The smaller the rings the larger the forces with or without line twist. The problems people were having chopping with line twist were if the twists extend down to the risers the twisted risers trapped the cable in the channel. This only happened on "mini risers" made of Type 17, and was compounded by soft housings. It was not a problem on Type 8 risers. This is easier to read. See Attachment. 12. Heard it all before. You can come up with all the reasons why you want to. You are not any more intelligent nor do you have a better learning curve then the last half dozen “I can handle it” cowboys that hammered. You got some damn good advice from some people on here that really know what they are talking about. But you choose to ignore it. This is a post from a guy who died last month, he hammered in under a canopy he had been told was too aggressive for his experience. Step right up, you can be next. “You are not now, nor will you ever be good enough not to die in this sport.” My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  15. Like you said, you are not a coach and do not know how she flies. Without knowing what her experience level is it is hard to offer meaningful advice. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. From your profile: Occupation: skydive bum Interests: jumping flying partying having a good time Now you are going to try and tell us you have never farted in the plane with tandems on board. Yea, right. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  17. Since you are the one who will be leaving an airplane with it on your back I would say that makes you smarter than the average bear.
  18. Yes, that is what I mean. Reverse risers were an attempt to fix a problem that was created when one component was substituted in the original 3 ring “system”. They have created the opportunity to have the same experiences. The 3 ring “system” has proven it worth over and over again. What Aerodyne has done is take one component out of that “system” and replaced with one of their own design. It appears to me to be an attempt to fix something that is not broken. It prevents demoing other canopies and makes that rig the odd man out in the container world. The 3 ring “system” has become the standard through out the industry because it works. What have they gained? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  20. The high cutaway forces associated with line twists have nothing to do with the rings. It is the cable being trapped in the channel on the riser. The culprits in this scenario are highly loaded elliptical canopies attached to Type 17 mini riser. Changing the design or configuration of one or more of the rings will not prevent this from happening. The hard inserts in the riser channel address this problem. They claim a 57% reduction is the force needed to cutaway with 675 pounds on each riser. Their tests show 7.82 pounds of force on regular 3 rings and 3.34 pounds on the Miniforce rings. That a reduction of 4.48 pounds. The TSO-C23d requirement for a cutaway system if used is 22 pounds. It seems to me that with such a small reduction their “new” rings are more fluff than function. I have also heard, no proof, that they do not allow mix and match of other rings on their containers. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  21. If 2 of you checked it how is it that you both missed it. It is human nature to see what you are expecting to see. It is important to focus when doing a "pin' check and to know what to look for. Get him a 12 pack of his favorite soft drink, a 1/2 gallon of good Ice cream or a bag of fruit. 22. If you are not making 10 to 12 jumps a day, you might try packing for your self. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  23. A good rule of thumb: Any change should make a major improvement in function or safety of the equipment. I fail to see where Aerodyne’s Miniforce 3 ring system does either. They are a solution to a problem that did not exist in the first place. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
