  1. Replace the risers. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  2. That sounds like the standard shield law and usually pertains to the layperson. With certified/licensed holders most of them state you must not exceed your level of training. In California that means if you administer ALS without contact with a base station you have lost the protection of the “shield law”. While I would and have gone out on a limb for a friend in most places you have no protection and are exposing yourself to possible prosecution. You might want to get a copy of the "emergency medical aid act" and read it in full yourself. Do not base you actions on what someone else has told you. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  3. I do not think you would be a good candidate to be opening any business in the near future.
  4. More so then your “condescending” appraisal of container manufacturing in general? You are right I don’t have to agree with them. But if you are going to hold them out as advise to other jumpers you should at least know the facts. Again you are right, webbing can tear and stitching can blow. But once again lets throw in some facts. We were discussing established gear manufactures in the US. You state the 4-ring system is just a gimmick, and that manufactures charge for things that do nothing. Can you explain why you feel that way? I know, again with the facts. The harness/container in the pictures, do you know where it was manufactured and under what controls it was built? Do you know why it came apart? You are taking an unknown brush and trying to paint all containers with it. Oh, except for the one you jump. If I appeared to be “condescending” it is because I am tired of people offering advise on things they know nothing about. Your opinions and your decisions are just that yours. And that is fine, just don’t try to pass them off as anything more than that. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  5. This is the smartest way to go. A Para Medic without contact with a base station is an EMT and to take any treatment past that level in illegal in most states. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  6. You may have heard of the day but I doubt if you remember it. It was before I got my "C" lic. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  7. How? Since it is a Vector, if it's a Factory RSL instalation installation then it either HAS an RSL or it doesn't. There is no easy way to remove a factory RSL instalation installation on a VEctor without replacing the reserve ripcord (expensive). If it was done by an non-factory rigger then check to make sure the instalation installation is legal. Excellent point, good catch JP.
  8. It looks like everyone is trying to stay on level with the hoop while going through it. The secret is to aim for a point about 6 to 8 feet below the hoop and about 6 to 8 feet past it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  10. I'm not saying I think Dacron lines (or any lines) do or do not absorb much water. But are the lines really under that much tension during flight? Isn't the per-line tension in regular flight around 10 pounds each below the cascades, and 5 pounds each above? (For a 200 lb OtD jumper flying 9 cells.) Next time you are under canopy reach up and strum one of your lines. 10 pounds is enough to play a tune.
  11. Do you have a source for this or know of any data to support it? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  12. Start with PPM Vol. I & II. Then spend the rest of your jumping career reading everything you can get your hands on about parachutes and gear, listen to the idle ramblings of those that came before you, ask questions and use a little common sense. Remember that no one has all the answers but the good ones to learn from know how to find the answers. PM me an email address and I will send you a couple of thing to read through. The files are too big to attach.
  13. The why did you include this in your op? "19"MLW...it is sized for a bigger guy. " I take that to mean it does not fit you. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  14. This thread makes me glad I no longer have to jump a round.
  15. Pass on it, it will not fit you and you will grow to hate that. Wait for a rig that is right for you not the person selling it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals
  16. At 41 jumps, I doubt he is ready for most of those scenarios. I just think is much simpler to use one for all of the above.

  18. You crack me up. Do you have and any experience or knowledge in harness design or manufacturing? Any ring used in a harness is rated at 2500 pounds. It is almost always the weak link. Type VII webbing = 6000 pounds, Type VIII webbing = 4000 pounds. In most cases where stitching is used, less means weaker joint efficiency. On a 3 inch 4-point pattern. More - 6 x 40 x 27 = 6480 pounds Less – 5 x 40 x 27 = 5400 pounds My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

  21. This is one point we can agree on. The big difference is not necessarily numbers but time. My “beliefs” are based on 30 years of watching new jumpers and new gadgets come and go. Yours are based on less than one hour in the air. Not meant as a flame, just the way it is. This is a good example of what I am referring to. If you are in a good track position it is not “mildly difficult” but impossible to read and altimeter mounted on the back of your hand. Try it, stand with your hands at your sides, palms facing forward. Put your chin on your chest and read what you altimeter says, digital or analog. I wear an altimeter on my right MLW just above the chest strap. I can see it in any freefall position and other jumping with me can also see it. (see attachment) Carrying a “grudge” on the net is something I reserve for the few brain dead morons that have done everything in their power to earn the “grudge”. And in most cases it ends up that they are just fun to play with. When this happens, slow down and ask yourself why. They have nothing to gain by telling you that. 22. The passenger harness is part of the TSO. From AS8015-B 1.2 Maximum Operating Limits, General: 1.2.1 Dual Harness Reserve Parachute Assembly: The maximum operating weight need not be the same for each harness; however, the maximum operating limits must not be less than 400 lb (181.4 kg), 200 lb (90.7 kg) in each harness, and 175 KEAS (324.1 km/h). 2.1.5 DUAL HARNESS RESERVE PARACHUTE ASSEMBLY: A certificated parachute assembly that is used for a premeditated jump by two people: A parachutist in command and a passenger (each in own harness), utilizing one main parachute assembly and one reserve parachute assembly. 4.3.4 a. Test weight = Maximum operating weight limit x 1.2 b. Test speed = Maximum operating speed limit x 1.2 However, test weight must be not less than 264 lb (119.7 kg) and the test speed must be not less than 180 KEAS (333.4 km/h) for reserve and emergency parachute assemblies; for dual harness parachute assemblies for test weight must not be less than 480 lb (217.7 kg) and the test speed must not be less than 210 KEAS (388.9 km/h).
