I could not find myself at a pilot or a rigger. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Good point. Maybe a good reason that no one should ever consider jumping a wingsuit while doing a Tandem jump! (Sure it's been done, but maybe it should stop before someone gets killed.) The way some idiots are trying to invent "cool" new ways of doing Tandem jumps, maybe they should be told not to before they start doing it with students. Just for clarification, are you saying that Tandem Instructors are taking students on tandem jumps wearing a wing suit? My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

(USA) Is a rig "current" on the 120th day after it was packed?
mjosparky replied to fcajump's topic in Gear and Rigging
It is out of date at the start of day 121. No matter where the rig is. But you can't cross the IDL in the US. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals -
Not that I know of. Just by name. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Here is your picture.

If you can't see it that seems something like it "can't be found." While you are looking for this "easily accessible" handle you are still traveling at 176 + feet per second. Complacency can get you killed and that’s about as complacent as it gets. But what do I know, you can probably handle it. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

You guys have got to remember that a demo is not a skydive it is a performance you are putting on for the sponsor. They hired you because you convinced them you were a professional and could do the performance you said you would do. A student can come in and roll up in a ball on landing. If you are getting paid you are a professional and should be able to do 3 things. Be on time, on target and standing up. Anything else makes it look like you are in over your head. That hardest thing to do on any demo is have the guts to say no.
-
It looks like you tested both methods on the same drop. For the test to be valid you would need to test each one separately. That way you know that the given load was taken by just the one joint. jmo My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

And the average non-jumper pilot will not make the decision to leave until it is to late to do so. It only takes about 1/2 of 1 G and you cannot stand up from a seated position. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Some where I have a picture of about 50 skydivers picking it to move it off the runway.

Jim, There isn't any dark blue jumpsuit with a yellow Protec. The only yellow Protec is at 3 o'clock and that is Rich Brooks.

No sure what you mean by that response but the use of common sense has got me this far. And yes I read the manual on everything I get. Haven’t you heard riggers are anal that way? Have you read the manual on your resever?

HP landing on a( the first) demo jump?
mjosparky replied to phoenixlpr's topic in Safety and Training
Now that was a demo to tell the folks back home about. Talk about an organizational nightmare. Everything was against it. Weather, bomb sniffing dogs, 100 jumpers most of whom had never met each other and the biggest aviation celebration in history. But it came off great. Thanks again Jim. -
Single of course, the Double keel was to big a bulky, weighed too much. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Hell, I not only saw the older rigs I jumped a bunch of them. Have you ever heard of the "Solution" by Rodriquez?

How comfortable are you landing the “lightly loaded Triathlon”? Asphalt is not any different than hard dirt to land on. If there is any asphalt on you DZ do some practice jumps before the demo. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to put 5 or 6 jumps on the Triathlon just to get the feel. Landing in down town is not the place to fine out the canopy is way out of trim or some such shit. You will get more thermal action because it radiates heat more and if there is wind over obsticals you will get more rotor activity. On city streets you have other things to worry about besides the asphalt. You can have overhead wire, lamp posts that extend out over the street and since they are having you jump there could be temperary lines strung all over the place. Good luck and stay safe. Thanks Robert, I thought I had heard about that at one time but wasn't sure. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

Yes the door on a CASA is controlled by the pilot. The Skyvan Perris has now is the second one they have had. Back in the 80’s I believe they had one and flew it with the ramp door removed. You sat on the floor without seat belts. On take off if you were in the last row near the big hole you could feel yourself self sliding a little every time the plane bounced. Scary.

That looks like a version of what we used to call an Enterprise dive. My idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

It takes 2 days to pack it. It has a small PC than a 5-foot stabilizer drogue. It has reefing controlled by finger cutters initiated by a lazy leg from the head box. When I get home I will check and see if I have some pictures of it on the table. It ended up being one of the most interesting programs I have worked on and I didn’t even get to do any test jumps. As for the Navy conical, don't sell it short. It is one hell of a canopy. Built stout. I am not sure but I think it was only used for Aircrew and not ejection. Yes the C-9 is still used in some ejection seat. When I worked for AERO I was involved in a test program to replace the GQ-1000 canopy in the F-18 head box with a C-9. Here is an article about a test we did at China Lake. Fired the seat at 600 KEAS at 500 feet AGL. This was my first time packing the head box myself. Talk about a rush. We were only about 200 yards off of flight line when it went. The C-9 is about the only canopy in the inventory that can take that kind shot and still set a pilot down safely with an all up weight of 400 pounds.

Should D license requirements be changed?
mjosparky replied to Croc's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Fortunately, license requirements are not all about you and what you have done and what you know. John you have a way of bring out the truth in a debate. -
Do you jump with an AAD? (turned on)
mjosparky replied to Mr17Hz's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There have been a number of incidents that could have been prevented if the jumper understood his gear or if they just did not do stupid shit. And trust me stupid will trump all the backup devices every invented every time. Skydiver are a creative bunch, they will find a way to by pass or go around any safety feature you could possibly devise. While it may seem foolish to your young eyes, they did not get to be "old timeres" by being "foolish".
