  1. Huh? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  2. If Scott or another expert recommended that you switch to a larger canopy, you would ignore their advice? Did I interpret your response correctly? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. To my knowledge, the Vigil is not water resistant; however this won't be an issue for probably 99% of the people who use an AAD. I do realize though that the pond swoopers may be drawn to this particular feature on the Cypres2. I got to hold one a while back, and if I recall correctly, the display unit is more of an oval than a cylinder. I agree, it would be nice to see the data; I'm curious though, does AirTec provide similar data? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  4. I'm not at all worried, just curious really. She mentioned that the dz.com tickets would be a different color, I thought that was interesting so I asked about it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  5. nifty stuff more nifty stuff So, non dot-commers don't get any of the things mentioned here? Is that correct? By the way, your first link doesn't work. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  6. What are people getting by mentioning that they are dz.commers, anything besides nifty colored tickets? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  7. You can read all about it here. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  8. Actually, I think it's more accurate to say that the 'twitchyness' is because it's a Heatwave. That's not bad, just fact. I own a Crossfire2 and it's far from twitchy, put about 30 jumps on a Cobalt a while back and couldn't describe that as twitchy either. Maybe I'm nitpicking, but to stamp a canopy as twitchy just because it's elliptical seems wrong. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. Why is it PEC's fault? Shouldn't this fall on the dealer you actually ordered the canopy from? PEC called the person you did business with, and that person vouched for your canopy/color choices. Maybe it's me, but I just don't see why you're naming and blaming PEC and not the sub-dealer. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  10. Load 2 may be a safer bet, but I figure they've usually got things pretty well sorted out by load 15 or so. That's more my speed. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. Buy gear that suits you NOW. You can worry about tomorrow, well, tomorrow. As a side note, are you sure you're figuring your wingloading correctly? A 120 @ 1.7 puts your exit weight at 204 lbs, is that correct? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

And I thought that this post was going to be about breasts... Congrats on the new license. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  13. On the other side of the coin are those who know that it is unrealistic to think that they can handle absolutely every situation that comes their way and want the added security of an AAD to help them out when they need it the most. These people, in my opinion, are the realistic folks in the group. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  14. I think Ron, that you may be confusing listening with agreeing. Something to think about. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  15. Why do you say that? Measuring a canopy differently than PD doesn't make for a screwup, at least not in my opinion. There's more than one way to measure a canopy. The Crossfire is another story. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  16. Nice! Congratulations! - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. That's good news! I can't wait until the film makes it over to the Philly area. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  18. More folks jumping also means more feedback to the manufacturers, also a Good Thing. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  20. Agreed. This film had potential, but the MTV style editing really takes a lot away from the film. It's distracting. It's almost as if this movie was made for whuffos, who knows, maybe it was. In the future, I'd like to see less flash and more substance. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  21. September 19th through 22nd Cross Keys will be hosting a canopy camp led by Scott Miller. Please see this thread in the Events forum for information or the announcement on the Cross Keys website. (Scroll down the calander to September 19th) - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. What happens when the guy from the skydive in front of you backslides into your group and knocks you silly? What about when the newbie freeflyer in the group after you comes crashing through your skydive? What about when you take your brand new CYPRES to your first boogie, or the mother of all boogies, the WFFC? I don't think that the seat belt analogy is so far off. Agreed. However, I'm not so naive as to think that I'll never need one either. One of these days, fault of my own or not, that CYPRES may save my sorry ass. That's why I bought it. And, for Ron, in the event that I do have a CYPRES fire, I'll take a long hard look at my involvement in this sport. I've said that since the beginning. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  23. I had a reserve opening at terminal a little over a month ago, the opening was brisk, and my back was sore for a few days, but I didn't think it was all that hard. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  24. She also used both hands to attempt to deploy her reserve. It doesn't say that the jumper gave it one try at 2000 ft and gave up. It only says that she trusted her CYPRES. Good for her. If I didn't trust mine I wouldn't jump with it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  25. This is similar to my experience flying a Cobalt 170 a few hundred jumps ago. The canopy flew GREAT, but the openings were hit and miss, mostly miss. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
