What? They included AIX, but not Solaris? Where's Irix, and HPUX? I get paid to know Solaris, but I'm a BSD fan at heart. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Right, they fill half of a page, but where is the incentive for HH to spend time modifying the system to change that? Or, you could just PM them or call them and they'll get your message when they get it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

I put a bunch of jumps on a 170 at 1.5ish a few years ago. I thought that the riser pressure was very light and easy to manage, even at that size canopy and wing loading. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

**Newbie Looking for chute and training**

You shouldn't consider buying ANYTHING right now, except more skydives. Finish your dropzone's student program, make a few more jumps, and then think about buying gear. Now isn't the time. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed. -
I was searching for this particular quote: and during my search came across all of these quotes: All quotes from here: What the air gurus say. I thought that a few fit well with what we do. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Comp Cobalt to be delivered today!!!!
Jimbo replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
But Dan, they're not that rare. If they were, there wouldn't see as many people as there are complaining about them. Right? Why can't you make the Cobalt have those sweet two stage openings ALL the time? Why the need for the smaller pilot chute, the careful pack jobs, the perfect body position? My Crossfire2 opens like a DREAM, every time. I've packed that thing carefully, quickly, badly, slowly, had at least 10 different packers take a shot at it, that canopy opens like butter, every time. No special equipment, no special attention to packing, no special attention to body position. Why can't the Cobalt open like my CF? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. Jimbo replied to kansasskydiver's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I believe that one should be able to pack any canopy quickly, as you've described. That the Cobalt requiers careful packing, a smaller than normal (stock on most rigs) pilot chute, and according to Atair, perfect body position, just isn't right. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. It could be, but it's not. If you'll search back through the archives you'll find a lot of complaints about the openings on the Cobalt. Inconsistent might be the best way to describe them. I challenge you to go back and find even half the number of threads complaining about openings regarding the Crossfire/Crossfire2, Sabre, Sabre2, Stiletto, Velocity, etc... I put about 30 jumps on a Cobalt 170 a few years ago, the canopy was a dream to fly, but after a more than a few jumps I was afraid of the openings. I strongly believe that if they could fix what appears to be an opening problem that they could probably sell a lot more canopies. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. Considering that words are all we have to express ourselves, to convey ideas, thoughts, and feelings, then I think that we must absolutely be that pedantic, at least out here in cyberspace. In a face to face conversation we have the benefit of body language, tone, and other subtle clues that are often lost in the written word. Again, I think it's in everyone's best interest to say (or type) exactly what they mean so as to avoid confusion. In this particular case, I do think it's important to call this what it is, anti-nationalism maybe, but racism, no. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

Mentioned above, but it doesn't hurt to mention it again. There's always this: http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/wingload.pdf A fat man landing a 230 isn't the same as a petite woman landing a 126, but you already know that. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends.
