  1. Actually JT your airspeed will remain the same. Your ground speed however will change. There is a difference and I'm sure that Quade and Kallend are better qualified than me to explain the differences. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    Left Handers

Yes you can. I know of one skydiver who has his BOC open at both ends. Packers usually pack it with the hackey on the right, he changes it to the left. I believe that his was setup this due to a shoulder injury. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. Where's the 'I'd rather let someone else deal all of the administrative hassles.' button, how about the 'Most of my self-employed friends actually work more than I do.' button. I am not self employed, I have no desire to become self employed. It just seems like too much extra work... That's just my take on things, I could be very wrong about that though. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    Punkin Chunkin...

The WORLD punkin chunkin championships are this weekend. http://www.atbeach.com/punkinchunkin/ So cool. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  6. I have to wonder, what is it about a door that scares skydivers? It's not as if it's going to bite you, or is it... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    school

Seriously, have you considered moving? I don't know what you're studying, but whereever you are can't be the only school that teaches it. Being happy has a lot to do with success, maybe you might be a little happier in school, but someplace else. Just a thought - good luck with whatever you decide. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    NW Home Brewers

I don't suppose you're interested in sending them to the east coast? God knows I could use more bottles. Of course I'm working on that as we speak. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  9. You were napping on the coach? Were you spooning, or actually on top of him/her? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  10. Is it fair to compare a tandem canopy to a cross braced canopy? Given the cross bracing in your VX-60 they're two entirely different wings. A more fair and objective comparison might be if you flew your S189 and then a S149 or 129 through the same turbulance. Then there's the speed factor of this puzzle, do you not notice the turbulance because a higher loading really makes the canopy less succeptable to turbulance, or is it simply because you passed through the turbulance so quickly that you never really got the chance to notice it. Sorry for all the questions, I'm just trying to get a better understanding of all this. For whatever it's worth, and it sure ain't much, I think I'm a fan of the full flight through turbulance theory. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. And I saw a guy at Rantoul with a little mini-tv like system for a ring sight. Maybe the integrated alti/ring sight/HUD thing is closer than we think. Hmm...... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  12. Make beer. Drink beer. Make more beer. Rinse, lather, repeat.... This is going to be the winter of making beer and saving money for better weather. I did the jumping through the miserable cold thing last year, I'm smarter now. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  13. The quote is from the PD FAQ available here: http://www.performancedesigns.com/faq.htm Specifically, the entry you're looking for is here: http://www.performancedesigns.com/faq.htm#turbulence Hope that's helpful. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  14. That reminds me of the movie 'The Game', at least that what I think it was called. Wierd. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  15. The key is in the message headers, at least that's where you'll need to start. If you care to post them here I'm sure we can help you figure this out. Or if you like, just PM them to me and I'll take a look myself. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  16. Maybe it won't happen all the time, but it does, or at least it can happen some of the time. I know of one jumper this year who for reasons that aren't important to this discussion found himself under 1000ft with nothing out, he had never gone for his main, but instead straight for the reserve. This is a very experienced skydiver, not a 100 or even 1000 jump wonder. I just wanted to point out that it _can_ happen, and even occasionally does. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  17. The advantage to the manufacturer that I can see is cost, I have to believe that F111 fabric is less expeisive than ZP. What happens when the F111 bottom skin wears? Does the bottom skin get so porous that it inflates almost immediatly from the air coming from underneath and not through the nose? Does F111 fabric add more drag? Lots of questions, lots of questions... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  18. Amen to that! I'll usually make 6 or 7, maybe 8 on a good Saturday. Sunday is usually limited to about 2 before I feel the need to go somewhere and sleep off whatever trouble I got myself into on Saturday night. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  19. My GOD Dan! Did you send along the Atair data gathering thing too? So now I'm wondering, has that canopy been jumped before? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  21. I think the idea was to halt the name servers, not necessarily congest the lines. If you can break the service it doesn't matter if they're connected via a dozen OC256 lines. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. Stay home. Eloy will be there next year and if you're healthy you'll be there to enjoy it. Take this time to heal, to save money, to spend that money on your training, and to get good so you can go to Eloy next year and kick some ass. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 23. On the other hand, maybe if the DZ invested some time and money in educating the townspeople they wouldn't have this problem. CrossKeys works the fire department, ambulance squad, and police throughout the year. I'm positive that this is 99% of the reason we get along so well with the emergency service providers in Williamstown, it's important, it really is. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 24. I laugh when people say that. Skydiving is cool, but if it's better than sex then someone's not holding up their end of the bargin. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
