  1. Go to Target, Sears, Walmart, Kmart, _any_ sporting good store. They all carry tents ranging in price from $20.00 to $200.00 at least. There's absolutely no reason for a skydiver NOT to own a tent. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  2. My rigger told me that in his experience it is easier to sell the container/aad/reserve separately from the main. One mans opinion I suppose... Edited part below: It occurs to me that this didn't come out quite right. I should have said, sell the container/aad/reserve as a single unit, and the main as a separate item. Or, like others have said, be willing to break them up. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  3. And that would always work in Never Never Land, but out here, in the real world we're sometimes forced, for any number of reasons, to check our luggage. What are you going to do the first time airline personell tell you you can't take your rig on the plane? Walk? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  5. Yes, I have purchased the insurance, on NW as a matter of fact. I was told that they'll cover any bag up to $2500.00. The insurance, I believe, was $1.00 per hundred. It ended up costing me an additional $25.00 to insure the bag. At least that's how I remember it. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  7. You're not the only one, as a matter of fact I go out of my way to NOT tell people about my favorite hobby. It's difficult sometimes, especially at the hosipital. Unfortunately one of my friends usually breaks the news.... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  10. Some clown in Sacremento was dragged into court He shot his lawnmower it disobeyed it wouldn't start. Might makes right it's the American way So they fined him sixty dollars and sent him on his way. Whoa Ya know some people Don't take no shit Maybe if they did They'd have half a brain left.... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  11. I wish. Anyhow, I've got the attention of a few of the higher-ups in the company. We'll talk about how they're going to compensate me when this is over, but all the compensation talk in the world doesn't get this fscking software installed. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. 12. 0:0:0 It's absolutely beautiful here and I'm stuck trying to get a $60,000 piece of software installed. One would think that $60,000 software would install the RIGHT way, the FIRST time. I've been dealing with this company's support group for 2 1/2 weeks now. The software MUST be installed by Monday. It's a good thing I'm not bitter about this. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

    USPA Elections

There's a new poll on the front page asking if people are going to vote in the upcoming USPA elections. The poll has only been there a short time and already there a few people who have said that they are not voting. I ask those of you who have decided not to vote, why? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  15. Uh huh.... I think Jack Jefferys competed in FF at nationals this year. He didn't win. Didn't even come close. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  16. Think about this, carrying your rig on bare exposes the rig to scuffs from the plane and stuff next to it, as well as and probably more importantly, people pulling handles. The only reason I can imagine anyone would want to carry their rig on bare is to get looks from the whuffos - and that's just silly. I have a soft sided carry on bag that's perfect for my rig, alti, log book, etc... If you're forced to check it, then be sure to purchase the extra insurance at the check-in counter. I think the insurance runs about $25.00 US. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.

  19. For the record, I am not the Jimbo over there on rec.skydiving. I took this name before I knew he existed. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  20. Hey Rev, Agreed. The fact that they've gone to more trouble to make it available via HTML than they would have had to do to make it available via PDF really says something. USPA for jumpers? These days, laughable. Get out and vote people, it's time for new blood at HQ. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  21. It's amusing to see people on both sides of this thing get all bent of shape of nothing really. Anyhow - in defense of Jraf, the point that I took from his open letter was this: * HH has a published set of rules that we've all agreed to live by. * In this ruleset is a list of conditions that will get a thread locked, posts deleted, edited, etc... * The thread in question seemed to violate none of the publised or accepted rules, seemed to be enjoyed by many, has certainly set a new record for thread longevity and length, and now it's gone for no real reason. It's nothing to get bent out of shape about. I don't think his original letter was disrespectful. I do think that some of the responses made were out of line. Whatever... I have to go back to work now. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  22. Actually, I think that this one could apply. it could be reasoned that the greenies are the sheriffs and that HH is the mayor, or governor. Either way, I don't think that definition is too far off the mark. A little off topic I know... - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  23. Huh. I never thought of that, but would be perfect for those times when I can't get it just right. I'll remember that one. - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
  24. Carefully? I don't know that are any rules as to how to best shorten your closing loop. I've gone through enough of them that I can usually get pretty close the first try and from there it's trial and error. Anyone else have a better idea on how to accomplish this? - Jim "Like" - The modern day comma Good bye, my friends. You are missed.
