Perhaps because the DC9 was there? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Read the thread and was surprised that nobody came up with this understanding: Years ago, houses used to be made with large front porches and yards. People would sit out there, sipping lemonade, socializing with family and friends, and watching the neighborhood from their vantage point. Fast forward to 'the modern age' where nobody has front porches anymore (the kind where you can sit and watch the world go by and talk with passers by). We all have back porches and pools, BBQ's and flowers out back. Our social circle is invited only and much much smaller. And we don't know what the heck is happening on our block. Sad, really. We've become a society of individuals instead of a network. I think these 'garage sitters' are trying to reconnect with their neighbors and friends. A welcome mat to socialize and not exclude. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Cool! And for those who read English, a little taste: http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/digital-cameras/canon-eos-40d-details-leaked-101-megapixels-198489.php and http://gizmodo.com/gadgets/digital-cameras/more-light-on-the-yet-unannounced-canon-d40-dslr-238614.php ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Nothing here last night. (about 75 miles from you). I remember the Northridge earthquake back in 1994. Destroyed alot of condo's on my (ex) mother-in-law's complex (Reseda). Those condos that ran east/west were destroyed. Those that went north/south were damage, but able to be saved. Hope everything is okay at your place. So, are we to believe that this DZ is not a CSPA member dropzone? Or are you educating them in the USPA license? Just curious, as it seems very interesting that there are people out there with "250 jumps" that haven't tried to research this and get their license (from any licensing body). I know there are non-member DZ's, and if they choose to run this way, why is a license needed to do RW there? (playing devil's advocate here). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Their first jump (that I observed yesterday) they did their normal team-style landing on the grass. Then they were called to manifest. All the other jumps they did they landed on the grass (still as a team) but with only 90's. I was impressed. They didn't lose any style points with doing a less aggressive landing. In fact, it proved to those of us watching that their canopies could (and did) land well at slower speeds as well as their normal swooping speed. They are awesome pilots who -don't- have to rely on speed to land well.

I'm not that anal. Although my vitamins are only made from plants.

I carry my cell phone everywhere, and one of the entries is labeled 'Mom'. Seems that they could also look at your latest phone calls and dial someone who knows you and could direct the EMS to a contact person. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Actually made me physically wince! Owie!! (later in life, can you see him trying to explain to the girls just how he got that scar...and trying to be manly and all....) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I've been told, by those who have tasted both, that the vegitarian style (fake meat) doesn't taste at all like the real thing. And as I've said before, why limit us vegetarians in the ways we get our protein? I don't care if the manufacturers make it look like 'meat' or not. They way I prepare it it tastes good.

Well, not dead meat anyway.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Do you have a favorite time of day to jump?
ltdiver replied to ttoy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Love sunset jumps, but surprised myself that I also like early (I mean early) morning jumps as well. Last year my team (and I believe 3 other 4-way teams) wanted to start and end early on a Sunday training day. The coaches talked with manifest and got a nod to starting at sunrise. We took off -just- as the sun was cresting the eastern hills. It was absolutely gorgeous. And then to land, before anyone else had even arrived at the DZ, was pretty spectacular. The only negative was all the dew on the grass. Ever see a rooster-tail as you skid across wet grass? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
Don't know about DeLand, but at Perris (for our boogie this past week) they invoked the 'no turns over 90' in the main landing area rule. And for the first time in a long time there were no landing incidents at all with the large population of visitors. If anyone wanted to do more aggressive landings, they landed by the swoop pond and were trucked back quickly. They got to the packing area before those in the main landing area crossed the runway! The school, and even the PD Factory Team complied. It worked out just fine and everyone landed well. These experienced pilots didn't -need- a more aggressive turn to land (and even swoop) the grass. They had the experience to land with style, even if it wasn't as fast as they were used to.

What happened to landing a wing suit?
ltdiver replied to illusioneer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
It's illegal to jump without a rig in the US. It's not illegal not to deploy your parachute. I'd imagine that in order to avoid getting the pilot in trouble, if a wingsuit is landed on purpose without a deployed parachute in the US, there will be a rig on the jumper's back. Otherwise you go through too many pilots Wendy W. That is, if they exit from a plane. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon -
If you don't like it, it's all the more for us.

Did that once and chipped a tooth. Had to have the dentist rebuild it. Talked to the owners of the building about it and they paid for the dentist, plus put up decals on the window so nobody else would hurt themselves. That store should do the same, or risk someone suing them! Especially since there is evidence on-line of their camera catching several incidence. One time = Funny Multiple times = Stupid (on the owner's part) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
