  1. No, it is not the precedence case. Look back to 1983 where this same story played on the hearts of America way back then. Exact same "Higher Brain" vs "Lower Brain" death scenerio. Look at the case of Nancy Cruzan. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. Her "Higher Brain" (Cerebral Cortex) has died, irreversibly. Her "Lower Brain" (brainstem) is still functioning. Unfortunately the courts consider only -complete- brain death to be the termination of life. Her heart can beat. Her breathing can continue unaided. (brainstem function). However her cognitive perception or function is gone, never to return. Her quality of life is absent. She is indeed in a living death. Teri Schiavo's case is not the first one of this kind to pass through the courts over and over and over again. Take the case of Nancy Cruzan. She also had higher brain death but not lower brain death. Her family fought the courts for nine long years...in and out of both State and Federal courts....before they won the right to disconnect Nancy's feeding tube. If Nancy's case paved the right to decision making for the family way back in 1983, why are we having to go through this all over again! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. You been watching Veggie Tales?!!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Thought you'd posted that you -had- run the software update. My bad! Sorry. I'll have to go back and re-read that thread again... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Sorry you seem to see a negative about this organization. What have they ever done to you? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. Looks kinda dark and wet out there right now.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=3319&item=7502630759&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW Wonder who this "bevdaguru" is who's trying to unload it. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. Interesting. PM lewmonst and see what she says. After she updated her camera it had no problems after that. We'd all be interested to hear what's up. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. The LANC port is easy to reach on the right side of the camera. I (and quade) use a Bonehead dbox to mount ours to the helmet. quade uses a Stroboframe for the dbox to mount to. I just bolted my dbox directly to the helmet (I never have to remove the dbox for other camera needs in that spot). I could go with either mounting option....I just don't have a need to remove my dbox at this time. Tape access is from the bottom of the camera...and this is one big reason why it's nice to have a dbox instead of bolting the camera itself to the helmet. All you have to do is pop the little critter out of the dbox and walla...you can easily get to the tape. ltdiver (thanks for getting my name right ) Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. The TRV 22 is the camera that quade and I both fly. It is digital (uses the mini-dv tapes). The digital8 that you ask about is also digital, except it uses the large cassettes instead of the mini-ones. They won't fit in the mini-dv players that some DZ's dubb from. The main difference between the TRV 19 and 22 is that the 19 has a black and white view finder...the 22 a color one. The 19 can -only- do video -out- through it's analogue port, where the 22 will do -in- and -out-. These are the main feature difference, with the latter one being important on a DZ where we like to swap video files from tv to camera occasionally. I believe that the firewire port works both ways, though. Not sure...that would be very important since we like to swap video files between cameras quite frequently. It'd suck if you couldn't import files to your camera (if you got the 19). Hope this helps. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. That video was taken 5 years ago. The family will not let current views be seen by the public. Ditto. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. Encourage him to post the video sometime! I'd love to see it! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Can you imagine how the ground will rumble with it's first take off from Perris?!
  14. Try finding a (discontinued) Sony TRV22. You can still find some on-line if you search. IMO, this camera is still better than what's currently out there (unless you want to go mega-size). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. Someone in another thread mentioned a software update that the 20D needed. Canon found this problem after manufacture and made this available for download on their site. lewmonst was having the exact same problem and she got directed this way as well. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. And we know someone at Perris who drives one.
  17. I'm sure that in the early stages of Teri's injury her physical therapy was appropriate and intense. However, there is a limit to what skilled P.T. can do in this instance. Nurses are trained in ROM (range of motion) and stimulation that Teri would need in the extended 15 years she has endured in her current state. It might sound callous, yet coming from the background that us physical therapists do, there has to be more than just maintaining a status to warrant our services. Having read the web page someone up this thread provided, a skilled therapist would not change Teri's status. IMO, (and this is only my opinion here) I believe that what Teri's husband did, remaining married to Teri, was to protect her wishes against a throng of those who would not. I may be wrong, yet I believe he did a selfless act maintaining contact and marriage to Teri, if only for this reason. He knew her better than anyone else and knew her wishes. I don't negate Teri's parent's love and well doings, yet I believe their decisions are marked by emotion. They cannot and will not let go. Who can blame them. This is their little girl. Sometimes, however, we have to look beyond this. Teri -should- have filed an Advanced Directive. She didn't, though. And her husband has the right to know what she wanted. It's less selfish to let her go, IMHO. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. Then the question arises of what the definition of 'alive' is. Having worked in convalescent hospitals for a number of years in the past, I have to say that what Teri Schiavo is enduring is not life. It is merely existence. And for who? Surely not for her. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. 'cuse me for interjecting into this thread.....Just had to reply to the .jpg in your post. I was privileged to visit Lahti in the summer of 1998 for the World Games. Beautiful country! Wonderful people. Very fond memories. Even climbed to the top of those ski ramps and had a look around the country from up there. Man, I wish I was back there again.
  20. Hurrah for you guys!! Is there a roster listed somewhere of the folks on that jump?
  21. Wuffos frequently call EMS when they see a cutaway main floating down....they -swear- that they see a person dangling underneath and going in. Sometimes we have to show them the canopy to explain what they saw...and occasionally they -still- insist that they saw a person bouncing... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. I thought it was "a case of beer was to an Otter...."
  23. The latest, as of today....March 18, 2005! "A major milestone has been achieved in getting ready to fly the first load on the DC-9. This week the FAA approved our maintenance program putting us well on the way to becoming the first DZ in the world with a jet to skydive from. Now don’t go bugging Dan at the manifest window to get your slot on Jet Load 1. We still need to get approval to fly with the rear door off and drop jumpers. However we haven’t been able to even start that process until the feds signed off on the maintenance plan. When asked about when we could expect to fly the first load Pat Conatser answered with a definitive “hell, I don’t know. But now that we have a plane we can fly we are a lot closer than we were last week”. Stay tuned…"
