  1. Yeah, what -he- said. Who were the ones actually doing the flying in front of milions of people?
  2. 1) IMHO, if you're already sensitive to neck pain I'd a) avoid flying camera altogether b) but if you're hell bent on doing it anyway I'd go with a lighter camera helmet. I love the balance and security of the FTP, but it -is- a much heavier helmet. Think on it. 2) Whenever there is stress on the neck you need to limit the force factor. By balancing both cameras directly on top, in line with the neck, the stress is less. Mounting a camera in front (especially the heavier digital SLR's) pulls the neck forward. Again, this is just one cameraflyer's opinion but there also may be a little medical insight too. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. Check this thread out in the Tunnel Forum: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=2098232;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Discussion also going on in the Tunnel Forum too.
  5. I had relatives calling me up to make sure I was watching the closing ceremonies. And it was almost 10pm when the phone started to ring! One was talking while another was leaving a message on my voice mail at the same time. Glad I found a blank tape and was taping it. I caught the last bit of the skysurfer, then the tube flyer. Anyone know who the lucky bastards were who got to do the flying?! None of the posted articles have any of the names other than the creator of this version of tunnel. What GREAT publicity! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. Thanks JP...You saved me a WTF? call to Tony -- You haven't figured out, yet, that UntamedDog is a Troll? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  8. In the news today! Yumm!!!! http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2006/02/24/health/webmd/main1342839.shtml During a 2004 Summer Olympics awash in controversies over steroids and supplements, one sportswriter wryly noticed that top American swimmer Michael Phelps was playing it safe -- he preferred to drink Carnation Instant Breakfast between races....
  9. Did you hear....? U.S. men got the Bronze!
  10. Take a look in the Photography Forum here. Lots of good information on these exact cameras there. Just do a "Search".
  11. I see this all too often in the poorer parts of the County where I work (I work in the medical field, like you). Women don't have health insurance to cover their pregnancy, then 'can't' get off State medical help because if they did no outside health insurance will accept a pre-existing condition. If they -did- plan to get pregnant without coverage (unless they planned on paying for it with cash) it makes my blood boil. This, and the raping of the disability system by someone who -can- work (he was an instructor who was still jumping, right?), is why this country's disability system is a wreck. When the government gets his 1099 they can investigate...and if found that he was faking his disability he is eligible for jail...plus mandatory payment back to the state for all his disability benefits. Poor planning on their part. For the child, she needs to stay on state benefits. For him, well, it will catch up with him in the end...if what you write is true. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  13. It had me laughing so hard I was crying. Good job, guys! Thanks for sharing. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. I'll refer to Icon134's #2 statement. It's the distraction that a camera brings to the situation that's the issue. Also, for example, I know of a cameraflyer who has almost 3,000 jumps who regrets putting a camera on at an 'early' stage of the game. Almost 400 jumps....Why? Because that's ALL he can do now....camerafly. He can't join in an RW jump, etc without taking it out.... Take the time to fly your body and enjoy touching friends. Get good at it! That way, when you -do- strap on a camera you can go back and forth through many disciplines and have fun. You won't be 'stuck' being outside the formation at all times.
  15. Here ya go...A simple indicator light that doesn't involve a microprocessor...and -might- be what we're resigned to if Sony discontinues its LANC port feature. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. Ditto. Memory chip cameras just aren't up to snuff for freefall photograpy....yet. Also, Karol, have you talked to your instructors about wanting to strap on a camera at this stage of the game? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. You're welcome and I don't care what country or skydiving organization a skydiver falls under, the learning curve is just the same.
  18. For skydiving I'd recommend the first Q and A. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. Awe....proof that you still miss us, JP....
  20. Totally agree! I've treated folks who have had brown recluse spider bites. Those who sought immediate treatment (including hyperbaric oxygen treatments too) lived. The one who sticks out in my mind, however, is the teacher who got bitten on the backs of both her calves. She waited, finally got treatment, and eventually died. Yes, this is to scare you. This is absolutely nothing to play with! Do you value your leg? Do you value your life? Go to the doctor!!! NOW! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. I actually loved the ice dancing event for the first time this Olympics. I used to think these competitors were just the fall out from those figure skaters who couldn't cut it. If you study it, though, it is quite an athletic event with balance and endurance way beyond what is viewed on the surface. Oh, and yes....the Italian pair. I think they pulled that attitude just to bring more intensity to their next dance. It was perfectly mesmerizing to watch. Best artistic performance of the night. Their interpretation of the "Prince of Egypt" had you right there in the story line (and emotion) with them. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. Do you actually know of anyone who has been injured at Elsinore due to that issue, since the buildings went up? Don Simonds. He was off skydiving for about 6 months after that. Very very lucky to be alive. If I could get my cell phone to transfer the picture to my computer I'd post his HUGE hematoma for all to enjoy... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
