As the shock turns more into reality on the loss of our friend, Chad, the next step I know is supposed to be anger. Yet, as I sit here at 1:00 am this Monday morning, I seem to have skipped that one and gone straight into depression, still bordering on disbelief. Acceptance will be quite awhile down the road. How can a person, so full of life and new found joy, leave so quickly? We have his memories to hold onto... Chad, to me, was that free spirit who loved to give big squishy hugs to his friends. He loved to smile, listen, laugh, impart joy, and work to bring others happiness. I remember his wonderful wine-tasting parties at his house and teaching me the fine details of that art for the first time....his tireless effort to try and get the Perris wireless network working so it would reach back into our 'trailer park' in the far south end of the DZ....his impish joy upon landing his amphibious plane on Diamond Lake (and I guess I can say now...also on Lake Elsinore even though it -might- be against the rules)....his turning around to flash as I was taking pictures of his naked bi-plane ride at Rantoul last year (and telling me that I could post them in their fullness if I wanted)....his getting Sara's coffee bar up and running in time for Nationals 2005 at Perris (thanks, man, you saved us in those early morning start-ups!)...his re-introducing me to his mom, proudly, just a few weeks ago at Perris. You could tell he loved his mom....and his kids. He'd light up when he talked about them. I know there are other memories that not only your Perris friends can relate. You've touched a great many lives with your giving spirit and love. Chad between two of his friends at Rantoul. Chad on the way for his naked bi-plane adventure. We'll miss you, friend! 1) We appreciate that you went back and reconsidered your post and remembered that you'll be shooting ground video for awhile longer. Some good advice is found in the 'sticky' post at the top of this forum. 2) As stated before, go Sony for a video camera. At this time you'll want one that: a: Has manual focus mode b: Has image stabilization c: Has ability to accept external wide angle lenses d: Has miniDV tape recording e: Has a LANC port (for future skydiving use when you get there) f: Has firewire capability (iEEE1394) e: Has good reviews here on dz.com As stated before, if you buy new, the TRV series is no more . The PC series is going the same way . The HC series is here now . But the HDTV is where it's going

HERE is a picture of the memory card reader. You're right, it is a Belkin. I had thought it was made by Apple. I had toyed with getting one for one of my road trips, but didn't because I didn't like not being able to view the files on my iPod (3rd Generation). Little did I know that Apple would come out with the iPod that's on the market now! If it plugs into the new iPod I'd get it in an instant! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Well, at -least- spell her name right! That's one "L", silly! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

uhmm.....see: Apple's iPod-to-Camera Connector. Apple also has a Flash Card to iPod Connector too. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I asked them that and they'll address it if the rumours turn out to be true. Until then, they are only rumours. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I took the time to write to Skytools (maker of the Cam-Eye) and received this response (with permission to post it here). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Nope. The primary reason is the quality of the camera. I've had several (now cameraflyer) friends who started with whatever video camera they had and they quickly switched to Sony after seeing what crap their cameras produced. The LANC port is a very nice feature, and I hope they continue it on at least some models. However, we all may have to go back to the old way of hooking up an indicator (like I used to do)....with a connection taped over the 'record light' on the front of the camera. Worked for stand-by and record....just couldn't activate the camera for you like a Cam-Eye can. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Make that -three- world records! Don't forget the Mass Jump of 900+ just this weekend as well.

For once....my little ol' antenna scores! I don't subscribe to anything broadcast related but am sitting here watching the Opening Ceremonies with just an old fashioned jumble of wires on my roof capturing the picture. Couldn't you just add this little doohicky to your roof and supliment what your Dish Network is able to give you? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Googling: Try the top listed discussion board here. They list your error code it seems. http://www.google.com/search?q=Sony+Pc1+Error+C:31:30&hl=en&lr=&c2coff=1&client=safari&rls=en&filter=0 ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

A good way to keep tabs on what weather is currently at Perris, try the 3 web links HERE on the Perris web site. Go to the "Perris Cam" tab and look down the menu for "Weather". Includes: 1)WeatherUnderground.com, 2)Accuweather.com and 3)Weather.com all linked to Perris. Hope this helps, and welcome! :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Looks like it's going to be GREAT weather here in Perris this week. Winds are currently in the passes, and aren't really that strong today anyway. Haven't heard anything about them kicking up for the weekend... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

I was referring to the 'legs straight out in front of him', like a tandem 'slide on your butt' kind of landing. I don't know anybody, other than tandems, who take this posture in preparation for landing. Well....other than Muscat... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

because the mail just keeps coming. it NEVER STOPS {twitch}. it just goes and goes and goes and never stops {twitch}, it's relentless, no end in sight {twitch blink} why won't it just stop for ONE SECOND, AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH We -tried- to help you with converting the regular personal mail (what used to be about 50% of the mail bulk) into e-mail and PM's! Even 'Chat Rooms'! Didn't that make a dent in the dizzying amount of paper going through your stations!! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

It's called, what most skydivers -don't- have,....Self Control. I went to the DZ today, but due to the fact I had some house repairs this month I only made one jump. Enough to satisfy and still eat and stay warm this week.

Very smart woman. Play the game with -their- rules and still come out ahead. There are many ways to defer or transfer debts. Don't ignore them. Don't let them get out of hand (-any- kind of loan) or they -will- come back to bite you, big time. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

Let us know how it goes! A first hand experience speaks volumes.

A USB card reader is MILES faster than reading directly from the camera, for sure. Next step up in speed is to use a firewire card reader. If -that- is still too slow, have more than one card with you. Have one downloading while you're up in the air with the 2nd one. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
