  1. Wow! Thanks for posting! I come across many patients of mine who have rheumatoid arthritis, along with diabetes. I now wonder if they know about the drug you speak of, "Remicade". Is it a common treatment for those who suffer from both of these ailments? Or is it something that doctors need to be more aware of? My heart bleeds for those who have irretractable pain and if it can be helped I wish more physicians would prescribe what you are taking. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. That's when you go see a judge and put that last name to rest . . . for good. Can't you just see them, at Ellis Island, when alot of the immigrants changed their name to perhaps call attention to their trade? i.e. John Blacksmith, Edward Stonelayer....etc. What kind of jokester came up with Gobbledick? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  3. I remember exactly where I was, and what I was doing when I heard the news. I was training a grey arabian horse in our University arena, when my boyfriend stopped by with the news. I couldn't believe it! I had to leave and go back up to the dorm, where the one and only tv room was completely stuffed with as many people who could fit in the room. I had to peer over those in the doorway to catch the view. In 20 years, have we learned? Have we grown? How many things have changed (with NASA and everything else in the world) since then. Makes one shake their heads and wonder. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. Yeah, I thought of this when I hit 'reply' last time. Actually, I have a patient of mine who is a hair stylist. She's giving me ideas and I actually had fun trying them the past week. Got lots of compliments, too. Yeah, I want variety...while still leaving enough for grabbing... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. In your knowledge, does it seem that boys (men) have a harder time dealing with and controlling diabetes that girls (women) do? Either physically or mentally? I ask this because it seems that I see alot more men having secondary problems stemming from diabetes than I see women who do. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. I'm also 5'10" tall and have battled with this question of short vs longish hair before. I tried very short (not quite pixie, but close) and although it was easy to shape and manage it made me look....well....rather boyish. So I abandoned that one. I tried to grow my hair long, on several different occasions. It never got passed my shoulders before becoming too thin. Much as I'd like to try long hair, I'm not blessed with being able to do that (and yes, I trimmed it every 4-6 weeks to try and keep it 'healthy', but that didn't seem to help). So, seems that I'm stuck with above shoulder-length hair. I've been told that it takes me too long to get ready in the morning, but I can't seem to get away from doing some kind of styling. If I leave it straight, it just looks (IMHO) like a lamp shade hanging down. My hair is very fine and straight. No curl or wave at all to it. I also have a long, thin face, so can't get away with just letting the hair go. Sigh. I'm bored and don't know where to go with this.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. Thanks for posting this. People need to be aware that there are many forms that diabetes can take. I know several skydivers who are diabetic. Some are in control of their disease. Others aren't. One I know, who I docked on during JFTC, was misdiagnosed and became deathly sick just a few weeks before this event. Thankfully she found a doctor who listened to her and did some tests. Just in time (for health reasons, too). She got on the proper treatment and her bodily functions came back into line. She came to JFTC and flew flawlessly. I wonder if this inhalable insulin would be of use to her? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  10. What's wrong with the current stock pattern? I can look up and -know- for a fact that a canopy is Aerodyne or not. Why change? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. Perris has the county morgue about 1 mile north of the end of the runway. I can top that, Harry. Richmond has a cemetary -at- the end of their runway....
  12. Yes, I absolutely agree about the weight and fitness problem and its association with diabetes. I work in the medical field and see it every day. Often, if we can inspire our patients to get on a fitness program (not only exercise and weight loss, but also proper diet parameters), they can limit their diabetes...sometimes fully. I also work with those who are of thin design, who have diabetes (and alot of times renal disease as well). If they can lessen the stress on their bodies by adopting this less invasive insulin treatment, then I am all for it. Choices. First, lead a healthy lifestyle. Next, seek treatment that is appropriate for your condition. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/11062591/ WASHINGTON - The first inhalable version of insulin won federal approval Friday, giving millions of adult diabetics an alternative to some of the injections they now endure. --More on the web site. This is great news!-- ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  15. Actually 3 CD's composed and produced by 3 different co-workers. Our 'hobby' is skydiving after work and on the weekends....theirs is to develop their musical talent. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. I've also used my Best Buy warrenty on my 300D. Sensor cleaning. I think it's due for another go-round. Nice to know that if -they- mess it up I get a new camera out of the deal. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. Black and Blue. That's what I also experienced on student gear. Nasty military surplus stuff. I wondered the same thing, if this was what happened to everyone and you just got tougher as the jump numbers increased, or was something wrong? My first personally owned gear (used) was SO much better than what I had to endure through student training. Then a couple of hundred jumps later I finally ordered custom. -That- fits like a glove and I don't even feel I have it on. Take heart, huey. You're not a pussy. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon

  20. This was one of the first lessons my JM taught me. I -used- to disappear right after jumping was over. He pulled me aside and informed me that I'd learn even more after hours, listening to the stories around the campfire if I'd just hang around. He was very right. Wherever you are, stay and hang around awhile. You think skydiving's fun? Wait until the sun goes down! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. Must be nice! Wanna make it at least 5 so the cameraflyer can come along? (pretty please? )
  22. Slow???.....In 10-way Speed?!? Bwhahahahaha!!!! Guess you didn't watch 'Cutaway' then? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. The Eloy Valentine's Money Meet is Feb. 18-19, with the USPA Board Meeting (members invited to attend) is on the 17th in Phoenix. I'm hoping to make it to both. See you there! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. Can you find an article on that? It'd be very interesting to hear (read) what exactly happened. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. It's not the camera that makes a difference (except maybe a big ass wide angle lens on it that lets you shoot everything in front of you no matter if it's centered or not)....it's the type of skydiving you're doing, IMHO. Freeflying...you're close, with a large (say, .3 or .2) wide angle lens. Ring site is not as big of an issue, in fact you might not want to have one at -all- due to it's snag hazard on another jumper. RW (FS)....if you're competing you most definitely want one (if you care about the quality of your services that is). All you have to do is sit there and watch the 'fish bowl' at Nationals to know what a nice video looks like. The freestyle and skysurfer's cameraflyers at my DZ all use ring sites, I believe. World Champion Craig O'Brien does, at least. So, in a nutshell (a large one, that is) that's my .02. Hope it helps.
