  1. That's very good advice. I, for one, have alot of foam in my helmet (not a FTP, but a BatRak and a very small head) and the foam swells on the way to altitude. The helmet may fit snuggly on the ground but wait until you get to altitude! The helmet must fit snuggly all the way down, including pull-time, and not squish your head like a grape when you latch it at exit time! For those of you who have large enough craniums to not need huge amounts of foam in your helmet....lucky you! I'm envious! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  2. And I thought women were the ones with too many words... Aside here: In competition you're most likely running the rounds clear up to the sunset load...which is low light. I'd hate to have to wonder if my video cameras where up to the task.... And that beautiful sunset load tandem....when you reach the ground and the shadows are very long (or even a bit going away)....I'd love to know my camera is fail safe in that situation as well. No guessing game.
  3. Thanks for the Wes Rich link. Those are beautiful. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  4. You're forgiven. Interesting for a Sanyo. The low light situation is one of the major reasons I don't like the newer Sony models as well. (exception the HC90, 96 and HD models). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  5. Sigh. Read it again, DSE. I give props to the HD as being of better quality than those who went before. Oh, and btw, the DCR-TRV22 weighs 1 lb 2 oz. The HDR-HC3 weighs 1 lb 3 oz. So it -is- heavier. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  6. Pretty funny there. Kind of shows, though, just how screwed up our political system is anyway.... I'd vote for Condi if she's just break away from being a "Bush Yes-(wo)Man" and stand up for herself. Has she committed political suicide by being so devoted to the present administration? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  7. I agree with dunesurfer. While we've come a long way from the -real- heavy cameras of the past (see Tom Sander's set-up!), we have to understand that if a camera is made -too- light something in the quality output is sacrificed. I started with a Digital8 camera, then less than a year later went for the digital TRV8. Progression to TRV10, then TRV22. I stopped there because the next "TRV-type" series lacked the quality that the 22 had. If I was to upgrade it'd be HD. IMO the series inbetween lack the lens quality needed for what I use it for. And the HD is heavier...but then again, better quality. :^) ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  8. Check out this picture (and the next 3) to see if you see your flag. I believe I got all of the ones flying there last year. http://www.lightdiver.com/2005/050806.htm/pages/IMG_5772.htm Great boogie. Meeting alot of new people was much more fun than the jumping, IMHO. Guess a big-dz mentality where I come from spoils the aircraft scenario for me. Oh, except being in the very first group to jump the CarVair. Now -that- was worth it! Pilot's brief for us was something like this...."We have 4 engines. If one quits that's okay....this baby flys on 3 just as good as 4. If 2 quit, that's still okay. We have 2 remaining ones and this bird can fly just as safely on 2 as it can on 4. If 3 go out....GET THE HELL OUT OF MY AIRPLANE! I will land this one on my own." ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  9. Not to discount the greenhouse effect by our nauseous overuse of fossil fuels, etc, but perhaps we're not the only thing in the universe that's contributing highly to our global warming. Interesting that Al Gore leaves this 'little fact' out of his 'documentary'. *** http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/3869753.stm "In particular, it has been noted that between about 1645 and 1715, few sunspots were seen on the Sun's surface. This period is called the Maunder Minimum after the English astronomer who studied it. It coincided with a spell of prolonged cold weather often referred to as the "Little Ice Age". Solar scientists strongly suspect there is a link between the two events - but the exact mechanism remains elusive. *********** But the most striking feature, he says, is that looking at the past 1,150 years the Sun has never been as active as it has been during the past 60 years. Over the past few hundred years, there has been a steady increase in the numbers of sunspots, a trend that has accelerated in the past century, just at the time when the Earth has been getting warmer."*** ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  10. That's because that's a picture of this Micheal McGowan's son, Mike McGowan. That's not the same person, the picture is credited wrong in that instance. Check the link to Mike McGowan, Micheal's son. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0004426/ Hell, he worked on "Cutaway" if you read the credits....! -Must- be the same guy.... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  11. And the 2.5mm plug needs to look like this: http://www.paragear.com/catalog/PICTURES/headgear/acc/Plugend.1.gif ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  12. Egads...It's now got a name! The "Luther Burger"! verified by Snopes[/url] ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  13. Ya might want to separate your sig line from your comments. I was just about to remind everyone that Helen Keller went blind from a early young age when exposed to.... And how this denounced the line right before.... As for it not playing on the Mac (Zeemax)....might want to update your video player? It plays on my Mac just fine. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  14. I know someone there who visits Perris and Elsinore when he's back on this side of the pond. I met him when he had bright orange hair (sub-100 jumps) and he earned the name "Cheeto". He's in Special Forces, so don't know where he's stationed right now. It's somewhere in Iraq, though. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  15. Kind of sloppy, but what do you want for a hallway jam... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  16. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe ALL Cameyes require a Lanc port. Not sure the 26 has one. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  17. You watch Fox news, John?! Okay, your web site has a much better commercial than mine. btw, I -did- search for this article being posted before and didn't find it. Guess I didn't use the correct key words. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  18. What? A naked, happy, high altitude jump? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  19. Let's look at some of these set-ups...
  20. Yes, I agree. However, if the still camera is flipped the other way and still that side of the helmet (the bracket now on the outside instead of the top of the camera there), then you have the 'space' between the still camera and the bracket on the lateral (outside) of the helmet. -This- provides a space for a line to snag much easier. ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  21. Stills don't have a light. They -do- however have a remote shutter release plug and cable. I thought of pointing this out to the original poster, but to have that attachment protected he'd have to have the stills on the -other- side of the configuration and then -that- would have his Cameye exposed laterally. A riser is more likely to slap on the side than on the top. So, in short, he has the best set-up possible (with a vertical arrangement for his still camera). ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  22. Amazingly, the reporter said that this combo was surprisingly tasty and that customers were demanding more! I know....it's the terrorists working through our greatest weakness (what we -think- is our strength)! They're marketing and we're buying! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  23. Studies are still being conducted, but they've found that Viagra enhances the body at high altitude, helping the lungs with their oxygen need! http://www.latimes.com/features/health/la-sci-viagra23jun23,0,5222370.story?coll=la-home-health I don't know about you, but I'd think they'd be distracted in another way now... ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  24. A baseball team is selling these things and they're a hit?! WTF? Video Here: http://www.emailthis.clickability.com/et/emailThis?clickMap=viewThis&etMailToID=1239434714 Happy Heart Attacks! ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
  25. Nice, but did you leave enough room for your Cameye to plug in with the still camera bracket so close? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
