I'm with Phree on this one. See if they will replace your current hardware with the PDF kind. Mirage did that for me when I had sent my rig in for a sizing adjustment, and they totally rock. Haven't had one even slip a little, and I wear my legstraps kind of loose. (allows me to shrug my shoulders for a better track) Fly it like you stole it!

Usually it is only used when you are injured (ie. knee injury) but still jumping. Where the landing is still a good landing and would be stood up if it wasn't for the injury preventing the ability to run. If you are going to have a bad landing, PLF. Fly it like you stole it!

Check into a monkey fist hacky. (not the pilot chute maker, the type of hackey) I prefer the texture, and grip feel over a regular hackey any day. Fly it like you stole it!

skycat replied to kevin922's topic in The Bonfire

What did you learn this weekend?
skycat replied to superstu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I learned that I hold my breath when diving to a formation and only take a breath again when I'm in my slot. Fly it like you stole it! -
And I started the one about the gerbil and the fishnet stockings Fly it like you stole it!

I used to use a pull up cord to tie my leg straps together. Worked like a champ, no bruised thighs after I did it. btw....that's not my rig, that's my boyfriends J-4 Fly it like you stole it!

Should not that be impossible as long as the chin strap is secured?!? I've seen one person replace a broken bungy with spectra line on a Z1. With that excess line flapping behind the neck it was a scary sight. He now has replaced it with bungee again. Not impossible at all. The chin strap isn't that far back on the helmet, and it's easy for a riser to catch/slap the back and rotate the helmet forward causing it to come the rest of the way off with opening shock. Just ask JumperPaula, hers did it 3 times before she lost it for good. I also know 3 airforce cadets it happened too just a few months ago. After it happened all of them changed out the elastic for bungee and had Derek sew the chin strap so it can't come loose. That is also part of the reason I sent the boomerang I bought 1st back. Other than the chin strap there was no way to tighten it down and with the chin strap way forward (like it is suppose to be)I was easily able to get it off my head. Fly it like you stole it!

I jumped an open face for 3 years and loved it. Then did the NM state record and was exiting with/right behind the base. My face got a beating on exit, I had bruises and rig burn all over my neck and chin. 2 weeks later I got a full-face. I wear my full-face for mostly doing RW, and an open face for hop-n-pops and freeflying. Only reason I haven't worn my open-face lately is cause I left my goggles in my car and they melted. If you get a Z1 replace the elastic that it comes with, with bungee. I know a lot of people who have lost thier Z1 on opening cause the elastic just couldn't hold. Also sew the excess of your chin strap where you like it so it doesn't loosen during freefall. Fly it like you stole it!

Yep listen to Lisa on this one. I jump a small bonehead and a medium Z1. Fly it like you stole it!

Well I never read the comic, and I barely remember the TV show. Anyway, I did not like the movie at all. The plot stopped about half way threw the movie and it was just gratuitous violence after that. The comic book editing was kind of cool and 70s feelish. The rest of the editing sucked and looked like my 1st attempt at editing a skydiving movie on my VCR. As for the CGI, it reminded me of roger rabbit. A cartoon in the real world. Derek and I gave it 2 thumbs down. Fly it like you stole it!

Isn't there a standing rule that Josh is banned from the party hanger? So when is it? Derek refuses to come to Texas ever again, so if I come down I'm flying solo....*evilgrin* Cyndi and I are going to sweet little angels I swear. Fly it like you stole it!

http://www.colorado-aeronautics.org/awosphonefreq.htm Ok, longmont doesn't have phone number for thier AWOS, but Derek said for DA Jeffco's (303-466-8744) should work fine. Boulder (303-541-9540) also has one, so if you are bored you can call all over the state. (try one of the passes like Monarch or something on a really hot day) Fly it like you stole it!

New to tracking...I floated...
skycat replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
As you learn to fly you probably won't need more than 4-6 lbs for tracking dives, until then you may need more weight something around 8-10. When I was learning to fly flatter rather than hyper arched I used to wear 12-14 lbs, as I learned I needed less and less weight. For quite awhile I wore no lead, then went back to lead (6-8 lbs) so I could fly flatter and still keep up the speed. For tracking dives I only wear 4-6 lbs, if I'm wearing FF clothes, if I'm wearing my RW suit I don't need any. The more tracking dives you do the easier it will be to stay with the group. Don't worry you will get it. To the girl who wants to see how slow they can track. Hooknswoop and I went out and did an I can out track you dive and I averaged under 90 on that one. I probably was going slower most of the time, but I did a real diving exit (you'd think I was chasing a big way) so I had a max speed of 158. Fly it like you stole it! -
You can also find out if that airport has an AWOS. Cannon City does and they play it over the intercom during jump run. Although I still shiver a little when the little mecanical voice says.....Density...Altitude..9.5.0.0 Fly it like you stole it!

New to tracking...I floated...
skycat replied to VanillaSkyGirl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When doing tracking dives I either wear an RW suit or FF pants with lead. If you arch like you need too to stay down with the leader you will get left behind, if you fly like you need too to stay with the pack you will float. So it's like doing RW....dress for success. As for tracking away from a formation....if you are above everyone else you are doing it right. Fly it like you stole it! -
