Maybe it's spring fever, cabin fever, just a plain old fever, but you see it in all the forums....Some people have been hot under the collar lately. Fly it like you stole it!

Derek used to work for NASA in the NBL and there is an escape system. Thing is everyone there knows it is useless, it was just a way to make us (the taxpayers) and law makers happy with warm fuzzies. The whole thing isn't practical and there just isn't enough time when something goes wrong to get out. Those astronauts know when they go up there are some very high risks, and to do what they love are willing to take those risks. Hmmmm.....sounds like another group of people I know and love. Got the cast off 2 weeks ago, but I'm still wearing a splint. I can fit a glove over my splint so Monday we are going to go up to Copper to test it out. Are you sure you want Derek in Utah after you posted that picture. Fly it like you stole it!

I've thought about it myself, but having had my ski goggles fog up several times, I think the face shield would fog really fast. Plus I haven't noticed it really being cold up there yet. Only time I get cold is on the lifts and a scarf takes care of that. be safe Fly it like you stole it!

paid pack job chop, lost main
skycat replied to bodypilot90's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
This brings up another point. What about the rigger that was directly supervising the packers. Since according to the FARs they are taking responsibility for that pack job? Fly it like you stole it! -
Question about Far's and intentional cutaway's?
skycat replied to Rdutch's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Actually it has 3 canopies. All 3 of them just happen to be on your back. Bill Von and HooknSwoop can explain better than me how the actual system works. Fly it like you stole it! -
Guess I know what Hook is going to want for his birthday this year. Fly it like you stole it!

My Dad had it. He was a Land Surveyor, and walked at least 10 miles everyday sometime with 20 lbs of equipment. So needless to say he was in very good shape for a man of 57. So in June of 2000 he went to the Dr. to have his heart checked, since Heart Disease ran in his family and his brother had just been put on a transplant list due to it. Well he had it and the Dr said he had 2 weeks - 10 years, he just didn't know, and he had to run more tests. 2 days later he had a masive heart attack on the dance floor at a family reunion. No warning no notice. So if you have it and really take care of yourself and are in good shape it can still get you. Fly it like you stole it!

My dogs won't put up with a cat in the house, but I am interested in the hooknswoop. Does he know how to kill spiders, bugs and other creepy crawly things? If beaten often and severely enough will he take the garbage out once a week? If so, lemme know your asking price. He comes with his own gun for killing the texas sized bugs. You may have to get a Bill V toy for the beatings....he is a fiesty one. How's $5 buck.....I need a beer. Fly it like you stole it!

I want a puppy too, but Derek said I have to get rid of one of my current pets 1st. Soooooo.......... Anyone want a hooknswoop or a red persian? Both are house broken and like laps. I'm keeping the dog, she is the only one out of the bunch that likes wearing a leash and collar and will do what I tell her too. Fly it like you stole it!

Excellent choices. Just remember although your canopy may feel like a dog in Deland it is going to still be zippy at 4500ft. Fly it like you stole it!

Well to be honest I don't cook from scratch very often. I work 10 hr days and the last thing I want to do when I come home is spend 2 hrs in the kitchen so it is usually chicken and some kind of pasta or rice. Although hook is starting to get the hang of that cooking thing. He has pasta down. Fly it like you stole it! -

how much does it cost for a rigger to install a cypress?
skycat replied to Rookeskydiver's topic in Gear and Rigging
Depends, if it is a cypres ready rig Derek just includes it in the reserve repack since it only takes about 5 min. Fly it like you stole it! -

1st off buy used if possible. 2nd I jump at DZs that are between 4500-6700ft. At sea level if you are very heads up, on the ball, and had proper canopy training, you would probably be fine under the 150. The rules change when you get up to these elevations. Canopies fly ~2 sizes smaller than at sea level, on a nice 50 degree day, now change that to the middle of summer it's 90+ and the density altitude is over 10,000 ft (I heard it several times last summer over AWOS), now your canopy is flying even smaller and faster. Then you have to land off in someones back yard or in a very tiny clearing in the trees. Could you walk away from those landings 10 out of 10 times? The smallest I would even think about going if I were you would be a 170. The majority of the people around here would get a 190, those that were just natural canopy pilots, on the ball, and activly getting coaching would get the 170. This is where getting used comes in, you can fit more than 1 size main in a container. So buy a used container that fits your 190 or 170, then buy a used main, from there downsize mains. Wait to buy new until you know you are going to stay with that combination for awhile. Also, put the above issues into your what size reserve you are going to buy. Fly it like you stole it!

The normal values that the cypress is suppose to stop at is between 6900 and 5700. If you are jumping a cypress to save your life and won't jump without one, you would hope that the person would keep track of how many jumps they do and what their voltage is at. Also if the voltage becomes to low the unit will error with a 8999 or 8998 and not continue. I know it's shocking but it looks like we as jumpers are responsible for paying attention to this. Then again how many times do we hear of stories where the rigger asks the jumper if his/her batteries are due, they swear up and down they are, and once the rigger opens the rig they are out of date. Although I do think the # of jumps on the unit might end up being off if someone like riddler or myself who live in Colorado and go threw several up and down elevation changes on the way home from the DZ forget to turn to the unit off. I know I have done it before with both my cypress and my pro-track. I heard my pro-track at one point give the beeps it gives at 1000ft. So having your cypress give jump numbers might not be that accurate, and also the voltage indicator on your cypress has certain inaccuracy (section 1.4 of the manual) so it still will be up to the jumper to make judgement calls on when the cypress needs new batteries. have you used that serial interface before? Derek ran into the problem where it was turned off in his bios, to fix it you have to get it to kick out of the normal boot up to give you the system info and turn it on there. Fly it like you stole it!
