I never sent in my A, and i only got my B so i could get a coach rating. i probably won't send in for my C or D, since there's no compelling reason to. MB 3528, RB 1182

thats basically what cypres said. and on my reserve card is a note saying it must be repacked at end of september. i see what both of you are saying though. Reason i ask is because im going to a boogie in september, and want to make sure they don't try to keep me out because of this. MB 3528, RB 1182

ok, question for those knowledgable about cypres... if my rig was repacked in late june, and the cypres was due in june for its 4 year, how late can i jump the rig and it still be considered "in date"? because the cypres has that 3 month +/- window to do the 4 year maintance... does this mean i can jump it in september, since its 3 months: july, august, september =3 months? so it would be considered UNairworthy in october correct? or do i have it wrong here? the only thing i am certain about is that it was ok to jump it in july and august, since i called up cypres and asked them. i've done it, with no problems. several people at my dz suggested doing an exit, while closing my eyes. my plan was to count to 10 before opening them, but i barely got to 5 before i freaked out and had to look at my altimeter. MB 3528, RB 1182

CNN story - South African skydiver mishap survived!

which lines broke on her reserve that caused it "not to fully open"? all i can imagine is that all the lines on one side of the canopy ripped, so it was only half a wing? MB 3528, RB 1182 -
your body will actually become addicted to caffiene. the best way is to slowly drink less and less. maybe just have 2 a day for a week, then 1 a day for a week. MB 3528, RB 1182

our DZ has been talking about this for a while. i think its a great idea, and if you are tossing static line students, you could have the JM trigger the camera, so he gets the timing right. MB 3528, RB 1182

they need to put more hand sanitizers at the portopotties. maybe have one or two on a post in front of each portopotty group if they want to save money. a speciality aircraft. the PAC was fun, but considering it will probably be fairly common at a lot of DZs in a few years, its not really a speciality. (having night jumps out of it was a GREAT idea though) a few water fountains scattered around. its kind of a pain to walk back to your car to get a drink. do a better job keeping out the whuffos at night. i spotted lots of kids, especially on golf carts, after dark. i didn't pay $69 so that some local minors could get free beer and fun. and was i the only one who found the free coke?!?! they should make it easier to find. What chance would a complete whuffo have of surviving a jump?
bch7773 replied to jont's topic in The Bonfire
I think they would have a better then 50/50 chance of surviving, with a cypres. because they would probably look down and see a couple handles, and either pull the reserve or cutaway handle or both, and the reserve would probably open even with bad body position. plus, cypreses (sp?) work pretty reliably, and so thats another way to survive. but something tells me they wouldn't deploy right out the door. considering people who have been trained and doing their first jump have sensory overload and do nothing for the first few seconds, something tells me untrained people would be even worse... plus, looking for handles takes time. but they would probably break bones on landing, considering they don't know how to flare, steer, or plf. so they would probably reach with a leg or arm, and break it. hooking onto a shark isn't that big of a deal... you just don't pull out the hook with your hands and i get seasick, and the best course of action is: 1. don't eat greasy or fatty foods for a few hours before the trip. 2. buy both kinds of dranimine, the normal stuff and the less-drowsy stuff. take one of each about 30 minutes before the boat takes off. 3. sit outside on the deck of the boat, NEVER go inside the cabin if you can, unless its just for a minute. 4. buy and wear those "seabands". they are the little wristbands someone already mentioned... they are like 2 bucks, so if they don't work for you, no big loss. 5. keep your eyes out on the horizon... DO NOT try to read. keeping your eyes on the horizon tells your body that you are moving. 6. drink plenty of water before the trip and during the trip 7. take another dranimine if you start to feel sick on the boat and if all else fails, puke WITH the wind and off the side of the boat. if you puke off the back of the boat, you are "chumming" and your buddies will appreciate it MB 3528, RB 1182

bch7773 replied to Mirage63's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
i saw several people have bad landings and get hauled off on stretchers... one apparently had a spine injury. but in terms of people dieing, i don't think so MB 3528, RB 1182 -
100th jump comming up soon, what to do!!
bch7773 replied to Adrenaline16's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
naaaaked jump. its summer, so its the perfect time too. plus since you're a woman, you won't have trouble finding people to join you on a naked jump MB 3528, RB 1182 -
i liked it better then a king air, but not as much as an otter. its got a really low ceiling like a cessna or a kingair... i got a lot of new scratches on my helmet. the middle bench seating is nicer then sitting on the floor like a king air. its got a wider door then a kingair, more places to float outside, and a safer tail. at WFFC they did a very good job spotting in it. and its got a nice climbrate. i see it as a nice step between a cessna and otter. I would say no to both of those. first of all, how do you know that alti3 didn't make the mechinism so that it accounts for the wrist burble. so when you turn your wrist, you are actually giving an incorrect altitude reading? you may wanna email alti3 and ask. and i wouldn't pull 500 feet higher... because then you would screw up the vast majority of the people who read their altimeter "as-is". just my zwei pfennig MB 3528, RB 1182
