  1. crack would almost be better to be addicted to... at least they have programs to get you off the stuff. MB 3528, RB 1182
  2. yeah I know how you feel man... One of my first jumps off student status I just held a heading and looked around. I didn't have to do manuevers or try to dock on anybody... I just kinda floated there. It just felt right, you know? MB 3528, RB 1182
  3. 52.573 seconds... took me like 3 times just to finish it MB 3528, RB 1182
  4. I've never heard of it, but I'm wildly guessing that they get on top of the elevator and "surf it" as it goes to different floors. I'm kinda curious so someone point out what it really is. MB 3528, RB 1182
  5. we don't need no stinking kissy face smiley... what we need is a retching smiley for when guys post naked pictures of themselves and they don't warn about it MB 3528, RB 1182
  6. ' AHHH NSFW NSFW ewwwww I should learn to look where the link is going before I click on it. MB 3528, RB 1182
  7. at least with skydiving you can tell your mother what you did that weekend. can't really do that with sex... MB 3528, RB 1182
  8. I can't believe nobody has posted this one yet... "If in doubt, whip it out" its a multi-purpose saying MB 3528, RB 1182
  9. I'm sorry to hear about this, and I don't want to make you think the worst but.... someone in my town had nearly the same thing happen to them... a father of three kids disapeared one evening. They heard nothing for three months, then some poor kid was walking near a river that ran next to a road and found a car in it. Turns out the guy just accidently went off the road into the river and nobody ever checked it. so check any bridges or rivers next to roads in his area. don't just drive by... but pull over and take a good look. let us know how this turns out. 10. nice. can we see it now without the jeans wrapping? MB 3528, RB 1182
  11. hahahaha. my jaw was on the floor. I was so shocked that ashley would try to tell that big of a lie. MB 3528, RB 1182

    Do you?

I can see it from both ways. The staff should definitely greeting you the moment you come in, since to them, you might be a possible tandem or something. Not to mention, its their job to greet everyone, even whuffos. The other jumpers probably see 20 new people a day, just coming out to watch their friends do tandems, and they will never see them again... so thats why I'm guessing they didn't greet you. 13. Don't worry, you aren't alone on this one. I think this happens to almost everyone while they are still learning. In fact, someone at my DZ has this happen to them whenever they demo a new canopy, and they have over 150 jumps. I found that if you want to do spirals, first just pull down the toggle about 1/4, then you can yank it down the rest of the way and it shouldn't spin up. Try messing around with your canopy up high, and see what works for you. MB 3528, RB 1182
  14. not me... our plane is in for its 100 hour check. meanwhile its 85, no clouds, and light winds. GRRR! MB 3528, RB 1182
  15. haven't you heard-- that list may or may not work. Some telemarketers are asking a judge to block it.... since it infringes on their right of free speech MB 3528, RB 1182
  16. what is the prices? I hear that there could possibly be a chopper....
  17. I would say definitely practice your A-license check dive a couple times if you are doing your solo. Ask your instructors what it is, but from what I remember, it was right 360, left 360, backflip, then find and dock on the instructor. also, practice doing different exits... if you jump outta an otter, practice doing a rear float, front float, bombout, etc. its much nicer to perfect your exits now, then screw up an exit when you are jumping with other people. 18. no, I almost never forget. I guess its a benifit of being at a C182 DZ, you always have time to log em. I found that if I'm short on time, I will just put the date, altitude, and people I jumped with. then later, its enough to help me remember the jump, and fill in the details. MB 3528, RB 1182
  19. my favorite cheap beer: MGD non-cheap beer: Lion or Corona with a lime MB 3528, RB 1182
  20. its kinda hard in a C182. not to mention what the other jumpers in the plane would think MB 3528, RB 1182
  21. you learned via AFF, eh? MB 3528, RB 1182
  22. oh geez I got Harry Potter. ugh... I'm gonna try this again. 2nd try... Data. ugh again. I don't like this survey all that much MB 3528, RB 1182
  23. actually I was thinking the same thing. This poll could be titled, "what container do YOU have?", and we would get about the same results. MB 3528, RB 1182
  24. I believe that both the spectre and the sabre2 are semi-eliptical... (correct me if I'm wrong). I think the sabre is rectangular. I've never jumped a sabre2 before, but I've heard the openings are much better than the sabre1. hahaha. nobody has told you about the typical sabre opening eh? usually, sabre 1s are known for very hard openings... but once you learn how to pack them, they can be fine. I bet skybytch will kiss you for this. MB 3528, RB 1182
  25. I read this in a book once, but I heard it is possible, but will result in injuries. The person without a working chute pushes their arms through the other guys side chest straps...(don't know what the correct term for it is... but where your reserve and cutaway handles attach) then they twist the center chest strap around their wrist, then they cross arms and grab onto their own side chest straps. The person with the chute deploys it, then immediately grabs hold of the other person, and also wraps their legs around them. the book says the opening shock will dislocate or break both of the chuteless guys arms, and so then the guy with the chute has to hold onto him the entire way down. I don't know how feasible this really would be, since you wouldn't realize that somebodies main and reserve aren't working until pretty damned low. not to mention if the gear can survive a terminal opening with something like a 2.0+ loading. and btw, the book I got this outta is called "Worst Case Scenerio". Its actually a pretty fun read, and they claim to have consulted all sorts of experts. MB 3528, RB 1182
