I totally agree here. If Mullins doesn't want to be a GM DZ, then its his responsibility to take care of any problems that it causes. I agree with Ron also... since you all having your coach ratings will create more student jumps, this will be earning the DZ more money, which means profit for Mullins. You guys should be asking Mullins why he won't pay for it. And actually, this weekend, a few jumpers at our GM DZ drove four hours to attend a coach class. I'm sure they would have been delighted had it only been 1.5 hours away. Its not for lack of facilities, since we have had instructor classes at our DZ before. MB 3528, RB 1182 -
pretty cool... but did they really only jump from 4500 ft? sounds like the news screwed up, since the video shows them doing at least some freefall, and I assume that you normally don't go below 4500 with a tandem. MB 3528, RB 1182

I agree with you here. We get all pissed off at whuffos when they say skydivers deserve to die, so how can we call this guy stupid. Yeah, I know it wasn't exactly smart to walk up to bears without any type of protection, but neither is it exactly smart to jump out of planes. you do have to admit the irony of this poor saps story. He gets close to bears to prove they are harmless, and that we shouldn't hurt them, yet he dies because bears can cause harm, and the rangers had to shoot 2 bears because of him. MB 3528, RB 1182

"borrow" an arm from your local morgue. MB 3528, RB 1182

exactly. and also get some more jumps in. in my experience, the more you jump, the more comfortable you feel, and the more you will remember. MB 3528, RB 1182

there's no moderate catagory... I lean just a little right, but I still consider myself to be mostly moderate. MB 3528, RB 1182

I'd much rather land crosswind then downwind. like someone already said, landing crosswind has the same forward speed as landing in a no wind day. but a question... you all are talking about how a canopy can't get turned by the wind... then what happens to me sometimes when on final when the wind is coming from over the hangers (quite turbulent), my canopy will sometimes make like a small turn to one side at about 100-20 feet? turbulance? that would be fine except that people already know dozens of ways to fool the dealer. you could tell him you weigh less, or have more jumps, or took a canopy control course. The only possible way would be to make the dealer talk to your ST&A, but there is ways around that too. Not to mention, if the dealer gets blacklisted, he can always bs his way out of it, saying the dead guy lied to him about his wingloading or whatever. The main problem I see with the blacklist is that its pretty much an honor system, unless you have extensive backround checks of people trying to buy canopies. Also, don't forget that many skydivers, especially newer ones, use used gear... and they don't usually buy it from a dealer... so the blacklist wouldn't help at all there. MB 3528, RB 1182

gee thanks for warning me what the picture was before I opened it. [/heavy sarcasm] we need a new acronym: DLG (Don't Look Guys) MB 3528, RB 1182

or you need a capture device... you can buy em at best buy and similar places for around $50 to $100. I have one, it works alright, but not all video editing programs will accept video from a USB line. MB 3528, RB 1182

12/16 here... I would think that the people who scored higher either get a lot of sex... or they've watched too much porn. MB 3528, RB 1182

hehehe, so true. or also true: "If it floats, flies, or fucks... its cheapest if your neighbor has one that you can borrow on weekends" MB 3528, RB 1182

hmmmm, guess I could use it for that. But I was thinking more along the lines of low squats for long periods of time. why whatever could you mean by that? MB 3528, RB 1182

hehehehe thats pretty good. I think you should have thrown another picture on there... the picture of that photographer right after that shot... with the pee stains down their leg MB 3528, RB 1182

Yeah a cessna is a little cramped if you got 4 big guys in there... but if you ask me, a king air is worse. The one thing I really like about cessnas is all the things you can climb out and hang off of during exit. MB 3528, RB 1182

if theres a rear door on the other side, i would. just from looking at those weird engines, I'm guessing its french. MB 3528, RB 1182

Geeezz AFF students complaining about line twists... Static line students get line twists about every other jump when they are still hooked up to the dope rope. but don't worry too much about line twists.. you can usually kick out of them no problem. (emphasis on usually) MB 3528, RB 1182

another bad one shown on fox sports... the guy who got his canopy wrapped on his arm, and he couldn't cut away until pretty low. Its on skydivingmovies.com somewhere. Whats so bad about is the fact the narrator is yelling "Hes at 450 feet! 350 feet!" meanwhile you can see the guys altimeter clearly at 2000 feet. MB 3528, RB 1182
