Funny Hypothetical Skydive Situation – What Would You Do?
Ron replied to bvsdjumper's topic in The Bonfire
Id just listen to the "I"'s and be the best student they have ever seen. Do everthing they wanted in like 6 seconds and spend the rest of the time just staring at them like "Now what?" All the time I would look board as hell. Even yawn in freefall. Do an accuracy approach into the peas. You must have missed the part where I say "The chances of getting away with it are SLIM" See I'm not telling them to do it...In fact in an earlier post I say its a stupid idea that has killed others. And in this post I'm saying the chances of pulling it off are SLIM...That means a low probability of doing it correctly...In other words a BAD idea. Tom Ridge says Al Qaeda preparing "large-scale attack"
Ron replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
what that all men are created equal? Entitled to the rights of Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness? Well I got news for you...People are equal. However, it is pretty clear that if a women gets her purse snatched on the street and the perp runs into a room. Three people were in that room and are being held. One is a mid 40's buisness man in a nice suit with a Rolex on his arm, the other is a 6mth pregnant women,a nd the other is a 19 year old man with tatoos and piercings.... Gee, wanna take a guess at who did it? Profiling does work. No Affirmative action is taking people and GIVING them something they didn't earn based on race. Profiling is about taking someones apperance and LOOKING into it more. Its not like police are arresting folks just cause they are black when a crime happens...they might Question them...And they might Question a young punk white kid at the same time. If a purse gets snatched at the two possible suspects are a 20 year old black man with a nice set of clothes on and carrying a briefcase, and a 20 year old white kid with tatoos and piercings and a "Anarchy" tshirt on...Well guess with one Im gonna suspect? Racism would dictate that I suspect the black guy "cause he is black"..In this case I would suspect the punk. See the difference? In one you make a choice based on race, the other you investiagte more, based on apperance. The apperance of the INDIVIDUAL. It would be the will of the people who wanted to vote. We have thousands of people that don't vote every election...The reasons are to numerous to even start listing. But even in the after math of 9/11 anyone outside of NY could have easily gone to a polling place and cast a vote. Democracy should not wait. Oh I bet they have spent many hours trying to see who would benefit...It would not be a good move for them to enrage a nation even more without a clear objective... OBL is smarter than planning an attack "just cause he can". "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

You would have to define "True Majority". The problem is that "Mikes" votes could go either way...But they still would not be counted, and they might give either canidate the push needed. Plus it would delay the election a good bit. Another solution would be allowing each person two votes... A primary vote, and a secondary. However each plan has issues, and goes against the idea of one man, one vote. A better option is to have the third parties really put up a good canidate. Say McCain/Lieberman or some other ticket that would have a chance as opposed to the ones that have been running. Well he has a large financial stake in the company. That tells me that he has a vested interest in the Vigil not being seen as unsafe. Yes Bill has been a proponent for getting Vigil to make changes...Thats says good things about Bill, but still it does not say good things about Vigil. So one could easily see if he was the distributor that he would have an interest in selling them. Whats your stake in the Vigil? I have no stake in Vigil or Airtec...Only saftey. Agreed. A stupid idea...Let the election go as planned. The thing is that unlike Spain, one canidate is not saying "Lets pull our troops out!" So a terror attack in the US could very well back fire. It could cause people to oust Bush since he didn't stop it, or it could piss off Americans to want Bush to clobber them. All of this depends on the timing, and the attack. Any attack on a soft target with a high civilian body count I think would piss people off to want blood. An attack on a military target...say Gitmo, SOCOM with limited civilian deaths may put more fear than rage into voters. And the timing would be very important...To close to the election and the voters might hold on to the rage...And I think rage will be the first emotion Americans would feel. Still a very interesting question......Its one I am sure OBL has spent a great deal of time on. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Tom Ridge says Al Qaeda preparing "large-scale attack"
Ron replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
I work for an airline....We have pilots that are carrying. It is PART of an answer, but not the whole answer...It would be better if we stop the terroists early. Its the 1,10,100 principal. 1: Well remove their ability to get to the US.. And remove the support structure from underneath them. 10: We prevent them from getting into the country, or from getting onto an airplane with a weapon. 100: We use air marshals or armed pilots to prevent them from carrying out another attack. The best answer is to make it so they ae never in the US...The worst answer is to just arm the pilots and hope that the pilots will stop them. But Tuna...That would require people to not be so damn touchy feely and you might upset someone. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
See the big deal is I don't feel the need to whine about it. I do think its wrong to claim to hate racism, but then engage in it like so many do. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Catching freebags and mains (was: ASC fatality)
Ron replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
Well wrong...You can catch it by the pilot chute and it will not inflate. However the chances of you getting it that way are SLIM. Giving reasons why it's a bad idea is one thing...Telling people how to do it is another. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
GI Bill/College Fund to get a rigger's ticket??

Just takes some stuff at a local Community collage, and take the extra and jump it away. I get paid 985.00 per mth to go to school full time. If I was not going to an expensive school that would be a lot of jump money. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -

Well by you giving advice on how to do it...And saying you have done it you are encouraging others to try it. Simple math here...1500.00 is not worth a life or medical bills. He was one of the better canopy pilots out there. And it killed him. There was no reason for it. I don't see you giving advice to people who want to pull low. Somethings should just NOT be encouraged. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
Catching freebags and mains (was: ASC fatality)
Ron replied to billvon's topic in Safety and Training
Bill while your advice was on.... The best advice is don't do it. EVER. It is foolish to risk your life for a freebag, or a main. Nathan gilbert was a GREAT canopy pilot, and it killed him. I bet most people are not as good as he was. Its pretty simple folks....DON'T FUCKING DO IT. Even those that have the skill, and the know how...Still get killed doing it. 1. Land SAFE first. 2. Land CLOSE if possible to assist in its recovery. 3. NEVER try and catch ANYTHING under canopy. People die doing this and its not needed. I am sorry for all those than knew Nathan...Let this tragic accident serve as a lesson NOT TO TRY THIS. There is NO REASON TO RISK IT. Having the rights to be the US distributor of a product tells me that he has an interest in the product. Maybe he does not own part of the product...But he owns the distribution rights. Hi Mark, Well if I am "out of the loop" then Vigil is doing a really bad job. So they don't care to sell any more of the Vigils? Cause if they are ignoring the people who don't have one...Then we sure as hell will never get one. Well on this I disagree....RWS does a great job of informing everyone of any issue no matter how small. It appears to me that AAD ignored and hid information till they had a serious issue. Only then did they do anything. I will agree that they are doing very well NOW...My issue is with them waiting so long to admit a problem, and then still not answering the I air fire at DeLand. BTW Mark....Does Skydive DeLand sell the Vigil? Didn't they take them all out of the student gear? Who said we were talking about Majic? I never said diddly about Majic. Do you KNOW I don't know, or are you assuming I don't know? And that is bad buisness....And they STILL have not said squat about te in air fire in deLand. BTW do you think Terry screwed up with the batteries? I don't. But they said he did. Ok, and I hope I am wrong. BTW folks he works for Relative Workshop, and Bill Booth also owns part of Vigil... You do the math. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

So without history it is OK? I disagree. If you are going to say X making fun of Y is wrong...Then it should also make Y making fun of X wrong. I don't have a problem with racist jokes....Either way..Black on white, or white on black. However, it seems that no one has an issue with Black on White humor, but all hell breaks loose on white on black humor. And thats wrong. And for the record...Blazing Saddles was a great movie...as was I'm Gonna get you Sucker.... I am not Lenard Malton, I dont' care if you agree with my movie ratings. But I do see a double standard in entertainment that its OK for blacks to make fun of whites, but flip it and the NAACP or Rainbow coalition has to get involved. Yes that also was a racist movie...and No, I didn't see it. It looked stupid as well as being racist. But my point is that it seems to be OK for Blacks to make fun of whites, but if it were the other way around its bad... That makes no sense. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

The question was how long did they ignore the problem before they did anything? The answer: Longer than was safe. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

7 is better than 15 or 100 don't you think? And young black kids get inconvienced at 3 AM if they are driving a 50,000.00 car. Young white kids with tatoos and piercings get harrassed everyday. Thats the problem with profiling....However it does work. Her problems by her own admitance were from how the DMV acted to the act...That sounds like a problem with the DMV...Who would have thought? If they were to tell us then the terroists would know how we caught them.... "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
That is the dumbest statement I have ever seen you type Bill. That however is one of the funniest. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

who is ignoring it? I have said we had bad intel...But that does not mean automaticly that Bush lied...But many scream that as loud as they can as often as they can. THEY are hurting the process by going on a witch hunt, and they are not looking for just any witch...they know the one they want and they are just looking for a reason to burn him.
