  1. Or you could say that US is not going to go into Sudan alone since it just seems to make the world hate us. See if the UN does not see it as important enough, why should the US yet again stick its neck out? Also Iraq and the WMD's that were reported to be there were a threat to the US. Either by SH himself (A small chance) or by SH allowing them to be sold/given to a terrorist group. (Likely since he already supported terrorism, and openly hated the US). So with Iraq there was the chance that one of our cities would be glowing if we didn't do anything. So we risked the World hating us to move forward. (And by your posts it seems quite clear the world does hate the US). I find it funny that you support the UN when they show time after time that they are unwilling to do anything. As for the Resolutions against Israel. Well, why has not the UN done anything? Who is Israel a threat to? So this is what we have, an organization that never does what it says it will do. And in this case it is ignoring the problem. What a great organization! "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  2. So in your opinion is the UN correct here? No you were hunting for a way to slam the US...as always. See the US went into Iraq after the UN had 12 years to get Saddam to comply with the rules they set (Please don't given me the BS that he did comply...He may not have had anymore WMD's, but he did have them and the resolution was he had to tell us what he did with them....He played the shell game for years). So the UN failed by not enforcing the very resolutions they passed. After 12 years, and what was thought to be credible intel we invaded. It was not just Bush that thought it it was the intel agencies of several nations. Congress also agreed. This is a fact. Now that there seems to have not been a new weapons program does not chage the fact that he did in fact have WMD's (We have the recipts). It also does not change the fact that he never did comply with the resolutions. So it is a fact he did have WMD and that he never complied with the resolutions. It also does not change the fact that he did in fact support terrorism. He did give 25000 dollars to the families of suicide bombers. So he in fact DID support terrorism. He did in fact kill his own people. He was in fact a very bad man. Now that the required exchange of Bs about Iraq is in this thread, maybe we can talk about Sudan The UN is AGAIN not doing shit about an issue that they claim is in their "lane". By them not doing shit there will come a time when a country WILL do something about it. Chances are it will be the US since the US is most of the military strength of the UN anyway. When/if the US does start to deal with Darfur....Are you gonna slam us then also? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. Yes. Do you deny he was a bad man? The UN and US congress also thought he had WMD. So I guess you think that no one should do anything about Sudan?...Ya know since your heros are not leading the way. You just want the US to go to Sudan so you can bitch about us again. Flying advice

If you want to fly....then start NOW! Don't be one of those that always say "I'm gonna......" Get in a car and find a flight school near your home and take a lesson. When you land plan another lesson. You can shop around the area for a less expensive school if money is the major issue. I drove past a 141 school for a part 61 school since the 141 was more expensive. The FAA requires: Requirements for Private Pilot 40 Hours Minimum Dual: 20 hours minimum 3 hours cross-country training 3 hours night 1 night cross-country at least one hundred nautical miles total distance and 2 hours total time. 10 takeoffs and landings to a full stop. 3 hours instrument 3 hours of flight training within 60 days before the test in preparation for the practical exam Solo: 10 hours minimum 5 hours cross-country 1 cross-country total distance of 150 nautical miles with 3 stops minimum 3 landings to a full stop at a filed with an operating control tower Cost info here 5,725.00: http://www.clearwaterairpark.com/School/PrivPrice.htm I paid nowhere near that. If you are average sized use the Cessna 150/152. It will cost less, and you will still be flying. The most important thing to do is go now. Do you have any medical problems? Ia sk casue if you do, you migth want to start your medical process NOW. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. Years ago an ex turned me on to her...I now have all of her CD's. Really a great voice. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

    Flying a helicopter

I have been taking flight lessons in a helicopter. VERY FUCKING COOL. Also very expensive about 230.00 an hour. But very fun and way cool. I have been told the allouette is one of the easier helos to fly. The rotor turns clockwise which is a little different, but the weight of the blades makes it less touchy as say a Robbie 22 Attached is a pic of the Robbie I am flying. I have a Fixed wing rating already and have flown Acro before...But Ihave to say a Helicopter is the coolest/hardest thing I have flown...I am looking forward to my Xcountry which will be to the DZ. No you may not jump it. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  7. Yep, I am worried all this "PC don't let a student fail, we must bolster their egos" is setting them up to fail big. The education system is a joke. The problem is people who are afraid to fail a student who does not learn. Why should we pay big bucks (And bigger bucks some lefties say) for a system that is more concerned about making a kid feel good than making them learn and holding people accountable who don't? I know a HS grad that can't read.....How the fuck did that happen? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  8. No we went into Iraq since the UN thought SH had WMD's but was unwilling to do shit about it. Now we have Sudan and the UN again is doing nothing. See the trend? The UN does nothing. Now if the US does do something about Sudan you will bitch that the US is being a bully. Maybe for once we are asking the UN to do what they claim they exist for. And at the same time maybe you should aske the UN whay it is doing nothing?...AGAIN. But it is much easier for you to armchair QB after the bullets have stopped flying. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  9. Maybe after all of you bitched about how the US ignored the UN maybe we were wishing the UN would get off their asses and actually do something for once? Maybe if the UN did its damn job for once the US would not have to do everything by itself. And then later be bitched at by you for not going with the UN? Just a thought. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  10. I know a lot of teachers and they think it is a good idea. There are of course problems in the way it is being done..But it is better than the old systems. You work selling education to ADULTS. Check snopes. Its called PHOTOSHOP. Seems you made the same mistake Ms. Kerry made. She at least was big enought o admit it. So whos fault is that? I think its the teachers fault for just passing them "Social Promotion" Which is just like this article about the spelling bee is about. We don't need to make them all feel good.... We need to teach them, and if they don't pass, they didn't work hard enough and we should not just let them go. 13. So do you or don't you think that 23,000 a year is good? See I left a good paying job to serve. It was not for the money. I did take advantage of several really good deals. But I did not join for the money. So you are calling them mercenaries. Nope. I said they SERVE our country...You are the one saying its for the money. I think people serve for a number of reasons...Money is not it. You are the one calling them mercenaries. I am calling them Patriots. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  14. I realize you like to fight with me. However read it yet AGAIN: If you think 23,000 a year for 50 hours a week is a good idea, please by all means enlist. Be all you can be Bill. We pay the Army,Navy, Airforce, and Marines to SERVE. Sometimes that means fighting. But we pay them to serve. But feel free to call all our people serving Mercenaries...Thats your right. I prefer to think of them as doing a duty and we pay to let them. But if you want to think they are mercenaries, I guess thats your right. 15. OK what if he is single living on post? Not everyone is married, and you have to live on post, and eat at the mess hall if you are single. Yes, I make 1664.00 a mth due to my service. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  16. If the program was really better and more robust all of the topics in the ISP would be covered. So it would hurt no one. The AOPA is the reason we were flying after 9/11, not the USPA. The AOPA is about GA. AOPA has about 400,000 members. The USPA has about 35,000. If you think the USPA has any "juice" in DC....Well, think about it. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  17. Congrats. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  18. Because the USPA has rules in place that most students have to become members before a certain point in the program...I know places that make students buy temp memberships with the FJC. Also it should be the USPA's job to provide a good program of instruction. The ISP was a good start, but the DZO's made the USPA back down. That hurts the students and they are the future of the sport. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  19. Read it again: If you joined up thinking you were gonna make a ton of money...you are really not thinking clearly. An E5 makes around 18,000 to 21,000 a year. Thats with about 3 years in. You start out making about 12,000 a year. I worked from 5:30 to 5:00, 5 days a week. I worked weekends and 24 hour shifts...with no additional pay. I worked easily 55 hours a week. That came out to about 7 bucks an hour. My current company starts you off at 11 bucks an hour and you will not get shot at. Like I said...If you are doing it for the money....Well you didn't think it out. People who fight for money are called Mercenaries. We don't encourage that. 20. I thought you liked the UN....Or is that only when they are saying things you like? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  21. Your opinion. I don't remember anything in the oath of enlistment that said jack shit about making good money. If you were in the service for the money....you were in the wrong line of work. If you serve your country for money...you were doing it for the wrong reasons. Edit to add: I see nothing about a big paycheck.... "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  22. The ISP was created to help students since the current program was lacking. The USPA created the program...A Good thing. Then when the DZO's cried about how hard it would be to implement the USPA backed down from doing it... The ISP was good for students, but bad for DZO's....DZO's won, students lost. The USPA should have stuck to their guns and kept the ISP as mandatory...It was what was best for the students and jumpers...But they caved to the DZO's. The inspection program would be GREAT for the members..IF the USPA actually did them. Only one DZ has ever been inspected and they failed. It is a voluntary program and no DZ will do it. To be a GM you should have to do more than just pledge to follow a BSR. The GM program is nothing more than a way for the USPA to ensure that people join the USPA...If DZ's did not require USPA membership, membership would drop. To prevent that the USPA requires all GM DZ's to only allow USPA members to jump there. That makes it so people have to join the USPA to jump in many places. On a recent poll, by the USPA the #1 reason why people were members was because they had to be members. #2 (a FAR #2) was the magazine. If the USPA dropped the GM program, then DZ's would drop the need for people to be USPA members, and the USPA would lose many people. That is the only reason the GM program is still around. 23. I have been bitten plenty of times. 7th grade I went into the bathroom during a class and was standing at a unrinal when two black guys came from the back and one put a gun to my head. He asked me what my "little white boy ass" was doing. I told him I was pissing. He asked what the hell I was doing in "his" bathroom. I told him I had to piss and was in the middle of it. At that same school two years later, a group of black girls tried to set my sisters hair on fire. 10th grade I had a black guy jump me for accidentally getting his shoes wet. A 12th grader named Clay pulled him off of me and beat his ass. 11th grade I was attacked in the hall after school.... I was walking down the hall, and the lights turned off. A black guy was skipping/dancing down the hall. When he got to me he swung at me. I ducked, but he caught the back of my head and he ran off. He was trreated as a hero by all his friends. My parents wrote a letter to the school and said that the next time I was attacked I would fight back.....About a mth later the same thing happend...I was walking down the hall, and the lights turned off. A guy was skip/dancing down the hall...This time I managed to duck, and trip him. I chased him all the way down the hall to the principals office. Some guy tripped him and by the time he was getting up I was on top of him...The Principal pulled me off of him. They let go of me and I started hitting him again. They asked him why he attacked me...The answer "He was small and white", and "it was fun". He was kicked out of school. He threatend to kill me. I got more. I still treat people as people. I got passed over for a promotion in an area I was already working, doing a job I was already doing...The reason? They needed to hire a minority to be in "balance". They hired a black female that didn't know squat about the operation over me who was already the acting manager....She lasted two mths, and then was moved to another area where most other managers would have been fired. I judge people. If a guy is wearing his clothes backwards, can't speak English and uses slang...I avoid them. Then again if a guy is wearing a t shirt with "The Dixie Flag" on it saying "The South Shall rise again"....I avoid them as well. Truth be told I don't have many black friends....Thats more of a function of there not being that many black skydivers than anything else.... I don't have that many white whuffo friends either. My whole point is that while I agree that there were problems..they are less now than ever. However, it is still PC for a black man to call another a "nigger", but if a white says it....Now there is a big problem. It's OK for a black guy to make fun of a white....Reference "White Chicks". But if a white guy makes fun of a black....All hell breaks lose. It's OK for there to be an NAACP....But a White organization becomes a "Racist group" or a "Hate Group". It's OK for AA to be racist. But if I hire a guy who is white I have to defend my choice. The tides HAVE turned. It's OK for a black man/group to be racist. I never owned a slave, I never made anyone ride in the back of a bus...But I am punished for these acts of the past. 24. Get a coach rating. Then a Tandem rating. When I had 100 jumps I got my SL JM rating. I would work one day a weekend, and jump the other. The SL students paid for my fun jumps. I also helped pack for the students and taught the FJC. I would SL 3 students out and get a hop n pop and 15 bucks. Jumps cost 11 bucks out of the Cessna, and 15 out of the QA. So for every load I JM'ed I got that jump and another jump. For every student rig I packed I got 5 bucks.... This was years ago at a small DZ, but I made plenty of fun jumps by not spending a dime. 25. As an Infantry man this attitude sickens me....Yeah, I would be the guy kicking in the door and pulling the trigger....But I would not get very far or last very long without the support elements in the rear. Infantry may be the Queen of Battle....But they would not last if they didn't have supplies or food.
