If you knew about economics, you would understand that competition creates lower prices. If you had paid attention to ANY of the plans suggested by anyone that didn't have a "D" attached to their name, you would see that it was more than just that... but you paid ZERO attention to anyone that was not from your party of choice. Funny how you bitch at the R's for threatening to do it now, but didn't bitch about when the D's made the same threats..... Your hypocrisy is showing. They did, it was called get a job that values your contribution enough to either supply it, or pays you enough to pay for it on your own. You want to spend your money on the things you WANT so you can play and have your toys and have others pay for the things you don't want to be bothered to pay for, but bitch about not having. The D's are promising that you can continue to live a lifestyle that exempts you from responsibility.... you are your ilk just eat that up with no regard for the damage it will do to the whole. "as long as I get mine and someone else pays" is your motto. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Funny how the D's are supporting breaking all the promises they made just a few years ago..... My how times change. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

And it would. But you are STILL ignoring that that it is an issue of ownership, responsibility, and mission. The US troop has almost no mission need for a weapon inside the US. But when there is a need, they ARE armed. I have carried a loaded M4 inside the US a few times... Each time I was guarding someone or something. Simple fact is when there is a need, they are armed. When there is no need, they are not allowed to carry the Govt owned weapons around. I had a military DL, I even had my own Humvee (assigned to me, my name on the window..ect)... I could not just take it for joy ride or take it off roading for fun. I COULD take it off roading when it was approved by my chain of command, SAME WITH FIREARMS. If I wanted, I could get my chain of command to allow me to check out my weapon and take it to the range, or any other MISSION oriented need. Guys that were assigned tanks were not allowed to go cruzing to the local Wendy's in it either. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

This shows you have no clue what you are talking about... Of course you never have let that stop you before. I guess you know more about why people serve than those that have served? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Wrong. Wong had a "permit to buy", NOT a permit to carry. and in the same mth: Now complete the data and list ALL the shootings and give us a RATE of CHL to no CHL. And while you are at it... give us the rate of shootings at schools versus Gun shows. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

That's because you dislike firearms and don't think people should be allowed them. A purely emotional outburst form you. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Funny, you claim you can know better and faster than NBER when it suits you... Yet claim others can't... You must have economic superpowers! "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Now care to tell everyone if him having it was LEGAL? If he had a permit to carry it? If it was ok for him to carry it on post? If going on a killing spree was allowed? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

You clearly don't understand the military. The military is not supposed to be used inside the US... So, why would they be armed everyday? Now, how about you answer the question I asked instead of trying to deflect it? How about you tell us how many people with a permit to carry have gone on a shooting spree? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

YOU and other lefties were trying to say that is started BEFORE then.... But then again, you have claimed that it is not a recession till the NEBR calls it one.... So how can you and other claim it BEFORE the NEBR when it suits you, yet bitch at others when they don't join you in calling it before the NEBR? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Your post shows you know nothing about the military. Troops not deployed or not at a range are not armed. The weapons are kept locked away in a room sized safe at each company. So your comment still holds true, if you notice an ARMED person stopped the attack... It juts took more time and bodies for that armed person to arrive. Even with a CHL, you are not allowed to carry on a military base.... Again, you have no idea of what you are talking about. Tell me... How many shooting sprees have happened at a gun show or police station? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Your childish insults say otherwise. Your refusal to answer simple questions says otherwise. And your only point you prove is that you are partisan and ignore data that shows how little you know. No, it is normal quoting procedure. Again, you ignore things that prove you wrong. And as for ad hominem..... You just flat out insult people... So, pot, meet Kettle. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Then feel free to point them out. Did I reply to him? Did I quote him? I use "SIC" in the way it is intended to show that I quoted EXACTLY what was there. Don't blame ME for your mistakes and don't blame me for not wanting to take credit for your mistakes. Nope, I use "SIC" in the manor it is intended. But again, you don't let facts interrupt your personal interpretations. And I see when you get called out, you again resort to childish attacks. And I am not out of facts.... I present them, you just ignore them since you can't fight back.... so you instead start the personal insults. That's desperation. Now, answer this without your tap dancing: Try using facts not ranting if you able. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

I'd love that... I'd also like mandatory drug testing and counseling for drugs and alcohol. But it will never happen... People will see it as too much of an intrusion into personal liberties. I however think that if you are living on the Govt dime the Govt has a say in what you can and can't do....Kinda like when you live at home with your parents vs moving out on your own. Plus, alcohol and drug abuse is a major factor in keeping people on welfare. I'd say it would be a GREAT program and one I would be willing to spend tax money on.... But again, there are people that would reject it based on it being against personal liberties. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Infantry needs a score of 90 based off of the totals of Arithmetic Reasoning (AR), Coding Speed (CS), Auto and Shop Information (AS), Mechanical Comprehension (MC) Cannon Crewmember needs a score of 95 based off of those plus Mathematics Knowledge (MK). A GT score over 110 will let you do anything, you needed a min 70 (I think) GT to join the infantry and a min 80 (I think) to re-enlist in anything else. So my job was to take guys that had less than the 80GT and tutor them to at least the 80 needed to reup into another job. It was a mandatory program in my unit. Until your GT score was above 80, you had to take the classes. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

The military has that.... Just like with other professions the continuing education is designed to help with the profession. I was an Infantryman, my continuing education included such things as Airborne, Medic, Comms, hand to hand combat, report writing, Field Arty cross training...ect. Why not make continuing education mandatory for people on welfare? Why not make continuing education mandatory for EVERYONE? If you only knew enough about economics to know that it is cyclic and just like it went down... It will go back up. History has shown that over and over. The funny thing, is you keep trying to say that Hoover started the recovery last time with his massive tax increases near the end of his term.... Yet we don't have those here??????? Again, you show that you really don't understand history, nor economics.... You just grasp onto the parts that support your position and ignore all the evidence that counters your position. But really it is not about the military.... The article is about the *general populace* not meeting the standards. But to answer your question, the military has many programs to help those that are below standards. To start they have an English language program that people can enroll in even BEFORE they ship off to basic. I was a tutor to help people prepare for the ASVAB testing after they had arrived at out unit so they could take the test again and get a better score. I also helped some of the troops with reading if they needed help. In addition, they have opportunities to take further education classes. I know people who took college classes while serving. Personally, I took the opportunity to take some classes on car repair. I didn't take the college classes while I was in since I had already had most of the classes that were offered. If a person really wants to better themselves, the military will provide ample opportunity. However, if the person wants to sit around a drink after work... The military will not stop them unless it becomes a problem. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Parents If that is what they want for their child, yes. I have seen parents groom children to be in the military, law enforcement, lawyers, Doctors, and even hippies. LOW? The military paid for my college. I'd consider low to be a criminal or a person who lives off of welfare. The military is an option for many types of people... those that want to go to school and those that want to learn a trade. Try again without such a bias. There should be programs, but political correctness has made it so that everyone has to be "winners". I'd support progress based grading and mandatory physical fitness training. Also, as bad as public education is.... You think that they would do a good job? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Yet another reason we MUST leave Iraq as quickly as possible.

Inasmuch as religion is the opiate of the people, I'd have to agree with you on that. I'd have to say welfare is a prime example. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
1. It has not happened yet. 2. If enough people dislike the law, they are supposed to be able to change it. 3. Just because confiscation did not happen here, does not mean that it has not happened before and that registration is one of the steps that precedes it. The key being here, "That Scozzafava's late decision to drop out and endorse the Democrat helped seal Hoffman's close defeat " If Scozzafava had not gotten her feeling hurts and basically flipped parties the outcome would have been different. The fact that even with the flip that it was a close race says plenty about that race. The funniest thing is how some are trying to claim that past elections where the Dems won seat was a "referendum", but when the Dems LOSE seats it means nothing. That's quite a double standard. Me??? I tend to think that the independents were swayed to Obama for several reasons: 1. He was not Bush. 2. The economy was in trouble (even though anyone with any economic background would claim it was all one party's fault). 3. Dislike of the *continued* wars. The majority of the US supported the invasion, but the support drops the longer we are there. Basically it is much more difficult to defend than attack and Bush and the R's had been in power 8 years. Anyone that wants to assume that this past election is a referendum... Is just as deluded as those that claimed the earlier ones.... History shows that the part that has the WH tends to lose the middle elections. Why did the independent voters "Switch"? 1. Some like a balance of power... I know people that vote the opposite as their only criteria. 2. Some who thought to give the D's a chance don't like what they have seen and see this as a way to balance out things. Plus, the party in power never gets the same turnout as the party out of power.... It is very difficult to get people who just won to show back up, but it is easy to get people who lost and are pissed to show back up. Independents decide elections and the party in power is always the underdog in other than Presidential elections. RIIIGHT!!!!! The funniest thing here is you look at the extreme of the R party and try to act like it is the norm for the whole party, yet you look only at the moderates of the D party and act like they are the norm. Like I said... there are none so blind as those that refuse to see. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
