  1. Nope, but you were not talking to him till you were. And you still have not answered the simple questions several have asked of you... So, I found your little rant to be hysterical and hypocritical. I guess in your opinion no one should reply to anyone unless it was directed AT them or TO them? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  2. And others will spout opinions based only on emotion and void of data.... When challenged those people will ignore the info and instead attack the person. Because you can't without looking like a lying liberal douchebag is the answer you are looking for. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  3. Yes, you said it was MORE restrictive in the US. There can be several causes: 1. Your theory that it is all social shifts.... But that same societal shift has taken place in the US. 2. The differences in the public transportation between the two County's make it easier in one and harder in another to avoid driving. 3. The attachment to automobiles that we have in the US vs Ireland. Stats that you have not bothered to show. Never said that either..... In my opinion, you prefer anecdotal evidence to statistics, and I feel that unsupported opinions are not worth giving any merit. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  4. Not when you compare the statement, "At the hospital, depending on the severity of your illness or injury expect to wait anywheres [SIC] from 2-10 hours" And Dan's reply, "Wait times like that are typical in the US, too." To the first two links that show the average wait time is 3 hours, 42 minutes. 3:42 is not the same as 2-10 hours. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  5. No, they are not. I called two weeks ago to make an appointment and I was seen the next day. E room wait times vary, So, no... Data does not back up your position. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  6. I gave THREE different cites. You have given NONE, just personal anecdotes. You have provided ZERO data to support your position... And every other bit of data proves your position wrong. Again, opinion only. You are trying to credit your favorite theory without a single shred of data to back it up while ignoring data that proves your pet theory wrong. You ignore the other possible factors in the situation as well... such as how in the US driving is more of a way of life than many other parts of the world and how the US's public transportation is not as developed as other parts of the world. Again, you ignore all the data that proves you wrong, ignore all the factors that could be involved and claim a theory that you have not supported with a single shred of data, just personal story's. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  7. No, before you were talking about military arms. Yes, so please quit doing it. Now, you can piss and moan or accept that there was a error in communication and move on. PLUS, I answered the civilian question... so focus on that if that was your original intent. Where have you see me NOT take that stance? Or are you just making shit up? Please notice the part I bolded: "Same reason the Post office does not allow people to carry, the same reason that courthouse employees are not allowed to carry.... Probably the same reason my company does not allow people to carry in the office. That does not mean I agree with it, but it is WHY." I don't see how you can take that any other way than I don't agree with it. Where have you seen me ONCE defend the position you stated? Again... show where *I* said that, or admit I didn't No. 1. The ratio of military shootings versus school shooting points towards the schools being the area where it might help the most. 2. Military installations in general are MUCH more secure than collage campuses. I have NEVER been searched going to school, but my car and myself are subject to search on EVERY visit to a military installation. You can walk onto almost any school, yet you have to pass through a gate to get on most military posts. 3. There is some credibility to the idea that when you enlist, you give up some of your rights.... The military can tell you who you can hang out with, where you can go, when you can do things, what types of things you can say.... While I don't agree, this is all true. So: 1. Show where *I* have said what you are claiming, or admit *I* have not. 2. *I* think a citizens rights (to include the 2nd) should not be taken away unless they are in custody for a crime. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  8. That does not sound less harsh. Legal limit in Ireland: Less than .08 BAC Legal limit in the US: Less than .08 BAC 1st offense Ireland: Up to one year suspension of DL 1st offense US: Varies by State, GA it is up to one year, VA it is 7 days. http://www2.potsdam.edu/hansondj/Drivingissues/1104284869.html Anecdotal evidence.... I know people over hear that would NEVER DD. Some more: This was great: Again, the data does not support your theory. I am willing to bet your gun theory is also not based on data, but unsubstantiated opinion. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  9. No, that is YOUR opinion. I don't think that the military arms should be carried anymore than I think that I should be allowed to take the military's humvee for a joy ride. Why are people with a CHL not allowed to carry in a post office? People are not normally allowed to carry on Federal property. Same reason the Post office does not allow people to carry, the same reason that courthouse employees are not allowed to carry.... Probably the same reason my company does not allow people to carry in the office. That does not mean I agree with it, but it is WHY. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  10. Good for you... That does not make it true. I say your desire for a GFZ is based on an irrational fear and worse, it is a "fix" that has been show to NOT reduce the danger, but may increase the danger. The FACTS prove you wrong and have on every post. All you have brought is emotional arguments. You still have not answered these: 1. What gives you this irrational fear of being killed by a random stranger that has gone through a background check, submitted fingerprints, and applied for a permit to carry? 2. Then why are worried about GFZ's? If it has such a low probability to actually happen? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  11. I think you will find that the increase in punishment cannot be overlooked as a factor in the change in rate. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  12. Irony score off the chart!!!! "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  13. You didn't say fear.... you said *irrational* fear. I am amazed you don't know the difference. Actually, I think you said one to incite people, and then lowered it to try and "win" But you never answered the questions I asked: 1. What gives you this irrational fear of being killed by a random stranger that has gone through a background check, submitted fingerprints, and applied for a permit to carry? 2. Then why are worried about GFZ's? If it has such a low probability to actually happen? And I support the right to carry and oppose GFZ for the EXACT same reasons. No, and you should also not fear CHL/CWP holders either... Statistics show you are MUCH more likely to get attacked by a guy that has not gone through the paperwork, been fingerprinted, had a background check ect.... No matter where you are. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  14. I did. In fact, I GAVE you the little blurb you tried to use. Funny thing is, you ran with it and ignore the DATA on the XL sheet that came from the TX Department of Justice. So you cherry picked some data I pulled off of an article and ignored data from a solid source. I did, you ignored it. So let me see if I get this right: A. I provide a quote from an article, you take those numbers and work some math to come up with a rate you like and defend. B. I provide data from the TX Department of Justice for an entire State that has CHL/CWP. You somehow think that "A" is a valid example of the whole US, but "B" is not? That's just not logical. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  15. Appeal to Authority. How about you factor in that he took his data from an article *I* provided and ignored the XL sheet of data I provided that came from the TX Department of Justice? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  16. Revolutionary War..... There you go... your whole premise has just been shot to shit. Go study history. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  17. What gives you this irrational fear of being killed by a random stranger that has gone through a background check, submitted fingerprints, and applied for a permit to carry? No, but then again I don't think I will forget to pull, but I have an AAD. And I don't think I will set my house on fire, but I have an extinguisher. Also, people HAVE run into them, so it does happen. Then why are worried about GFZ's? If it has such a low probability to actually happen? Yes, but you fight it by supporting laws that clearly don't work. You have the same fear, just a different method to eliminate it. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  18. All emotion, no logic. If you can't answer, just say you can't answer. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  19. The data does not support your WAG estimate. Columbine, VT, and the Ft. Hood and Orlando disasters prove you wrong.... Sorry you can't see that. VT, daycare centers, schools, your place of work..... Not exactly places you would expect violence, yet these are the places these shooting happen. How many mass shootings have happened at 2AM in a biker bar? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  20. Nope, but if someone wanted to do that I would not keep them from being allowed. I believe in personal freedom. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  21. Try not backpedaling when you step on your own crank with your own words. Not my fault you say things like: "I've reached my conclusion based on observing human behavior. " So you have no data, just a made up observation. " By lowering the weapon carrying threshold, it has without question prevented countless shootings." And the facts prove otherwise, your made up BS does not fly... Don't blame me for pointing that out. "Unfortunately, it's not a hard number; it's a soft one that can only be measured against the number of shootings that occur when the "Gun Free Zone" didn't exist. " Again, a BS pulled out of your ass number. There are more shootings now, than in the 60's when people had rifles in their trucks. Face it, you made up a bunch of BS and can't back it up, so you tried to make it personal. Lame, but expected from you. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  22. So you think posting a sign saying "No Guns allowed" will stop a guy that plans on going on a killing spree? The facts show otherwise. Again, the facts show otherwise. There are more shootings now than before. Again, your comments are not supported by data. Unlikely to happen in the first place??? I guess you didn't hear about the guy in Texas at the "Gun Free Zone" then, huh? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  23. I did, you ignored it. I even included my source. You made up stuff. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  24. It's funnier how you ignore them if it makes your party of choice look foolish. So you are claiming that the D's NEVER made a threat to filibuster? If you can't understand the simple concept of you have to pay for these programs.... I don't know how we could explain it any easier. You see when you want to spend money, you should have enough to cover it or you run into a deficit. Deficits are considered bad. If you want to increase spending for anything, you have to either cut spending in another area, or raise income to cover the expense. In the case of the Govt, income is equal to taxes. This applies to any outlay of funds for ANY program, and it is simple finance. No you don't. That is a Got paid for program that competes directly with private programs. I am amazed you claim to not be able to see how a Govt backed program backed by tax dollars competing with private companies is anything near "competition". Also, I am amazed that you ignore how poorly Govt run programs are doing. BS, you never read them. She should have gotten a better job, or worked for a company that valued her enough to pay for her HC. Your desire to make tax payers pay for the things you are too lazy to provide for yourself is the real issue here. You *could* pay for these things, but you *choose* to spend the money elsewhere and want others to pick up your slack. Right now it does not, but since I pay taxes any additional expenditures will have to be covered. The longer we wait to pay for them, the more they will cost. It is called compounding interest, and I avoid it as much as possible in my personal life (I do not have a SINGLE thing on payments and do not carry a CC balance). So, any additional expenditures will have to be covered. The only responsible way to do that is cut other programs, or raise taxes. You don't care what they do as long as you get what you want without having to work for it yourself. 1. Looking at the graphs that show debt, your comment is not backed up. 2. You think that only one party is responsible... That is just pure partisan BS. 3. Just because it HAS been done that way, does not mean it should just continue. Then your labor should have been worth it.... It seems it was not. You think the Govt did such a great job going into Iraq? You think the Govt did such a great job with the deficit? You think the Govt did such a great job with Social Security? You think the Govt did such a great job with education? The benefit to a company making those choices is that if it fails, it will not take everyone down with it. Your posts don't show that. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
  25. Wow, made up math!!!!! Wanna do the math on how AAD's cause hook turn deaths? Either do your home work, or don't make up stuff. Plus you ignore that he didn't have a CHL, only a permit to BUY. FAIL! How about some numbers from TX? In 2006, there were 258,162 active CHLs, but only 140 total convictions. Overall - The general population over age 21 is over 7 times as likely to commit any offense listed by DPS as are CHLs Assault - The general population over age 21 is over 8 times as likely to commit an assault as are CHLs Burglary - The general population over age 21 is over 38 times as likely to commit a burglary as are CHLs Prohibited Weapons - The general population over age 21 is over 21 times as likely to be convicted of possessing prohibited weapons as are CHLs Robbery - The general population over age 21 is over 63 times as likely to commit a robbery as are CHLs "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
