In THAT example. But you know better than most that one example does not a data set make. And of those Private schools.... Care to compare Tuition rates? John, care to answer the question instead of throwing a "Well its the best we got" Kinda BS answer? Do YOU think that public schools (k-12) are less than, equal to, or better than private schools? You better than most know that one groups desires do not mean that it is a good program... This is nothing more than a lame attempt to avoid answering the real question. John, do YOU looking at the balance sheets of other US Govt social programs... Are Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid running well? Again, personal opinion is not what counts... How about you explain how France's system which is the closest to the proposed US system has been running a deficit for 20+ years. Or how that that Deficit is now around 9-13 BILLION dollars. Sorry emotional rant with no data. United States 77.1 United Kingdom 77.7 Finland 77.4 France 78.8 Germany 77.4 Lets look at some third world countries shall we? Afghanistan 45.9 Angola 38.3 Botswana 39.3 Sorry... The data does not back up your personal opinion. The DZ didn't notice $138,697 stolen from it.... I bet $138,697 would pay for HC for the staff. So who do you think should pay for it? I mean if it costs so much, who should pay for it? And you don't think a guy that claims everyone should have HC provided NOT providing HC to the people he COULD provide it to is a little hypocritical? And you STILL didn't answer if the office staff are Contract, or actual employees. So do you support public single payer HC? Don't know where you got that attitude. I think TK SHOULD provide HC to his employees.... After all he says it should be a right, and he is in a position to offer it. The saddest thing is I think you honestly think this way. So, just so we are all clear: 1. The Onion is a RW rag. 2. MSN has no leanings. 3. Hannity is an "Unofficial, Official" arm of the RW. WOW....... So basically, you can label anything, anyway you want with no need to prove it, or back that position up.... Again, WOW.... "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

So, you are claiming that the office staff are all contractors? And I would think that a guy that thinks everyone should have HC would provide it to his employees.... So, I think the question to TK is valid. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Funny, I know lots of people that have guns and not once have they had a round go through a wall and killed a child. You think they have broken guns, or bad ammo???? "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

H.R. 3950 - Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act
Ron replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Because K-12 is not really an option... University is an option. The current legislation does not make participation an option. Therefore, mandatory schooling is a better example. Maybe, but with private education (K-12) even if you go to private school, you still PAY for public school. Social Security and the Medicare/Medicaid programs all are not fiscally sound. The problem is only going to get worse. There is plenty of hard data out there... such as France's system which is the closest to what people in the US are suggesting. France's system has been running a deficit for 20+ years in spite of raising taxes to pay for it. So it is pretty clear the French system is not really "working" unless you think that a program that runs a deficit and is getting worse year over year is a a good thing. From NPR: So even France's system is cutting services and raising costs and STILL running a deficit. Following down that path does not seem like a smart move. So there is plenty of data out there. Albert Einstein once said “The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. How is following down a path that has been shown not to work a good idea? Why not look at ways to cut costs as opposed to just writing more checks on borrowed funds? One thing France does is they have removed the insurance Dr's are required to have... Do you know that Dr's pay about 55k a year in insurance? Good points. But a question about this one: When you compare private schools to public schools... Which do you think is better? Do you think that public Elementary and High schools are doing a good job? Also, look at the balance sheets of other US Govt social programs... Are Social Security, Medicare or Medicaid running well? Look at Medical programs in other Country's... Are they running well? It is foolish to think that the solution is to follow a path that has already been proven not to work time after time. Still waiting for an answer for post #114 of this thread... Like I said, I knew you would not bother to answer. You avoid any real discussions preferring to throw insults and call others names. I answered your question.... Now answer mine. I see you espouse typical things from the left, how are you different from garden variety LW? Are you even going to answer this question?... I'd bet not. No, you stated you thought it was a RW site.... Lame attempt at a back peddle for you. I was perfectly able to read what you wrote... You clearly thought The Onion was a RW site pushing RW agenda. Well, that explains a lot actually. You assume that anyone that disagrees with you is like the people you disagree with. BTW still waiting on your reply to post #114 in this thread: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3728265;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;;page=unread#unread Why do I think you are just avoiding real discussions like normal? Irony score off the freakin chart!!! That sounds like you... You want everything such as free to you HC, but don't want to work or pay for it... You want me to pay for your HC. Imagine how great the US would be if people were willing to work for the things they want instead of expecting others just to give it to them! Well falling for a joke and not being able to tell real information from false information is something BOTH people you describe have problems with. Should Catholic Church Punish Pro-Abortion Rights Govt Officials?
Ron replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
Sure, show where the church has claimed to not support capital punishment and I would agree. I don't actually follow the church and really don't know what they say on the topic. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
Maybe we can all take it down to Mexico and ride around drunk... May I suggest not sitting on the left side near the tire? The right side seems like it would not be a problem. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Ron replied to Andy9o8's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't see how the church could support them. I mean the church should not allow people that do not follow the churches policies to be part of the church. anything else is pandering. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -

Did I make the right decision not to cut away?
Ron replied to midlifecrisis's topic in Safety and Training
You lived, so you did the right thing. *I* would have most likely gotten rid of it. I have seen normally "good" canopy's turn to crap right on landing. But, you did a controlability check and it passed. You made the right call. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334 -
Its your call. No main is worth my life, so if it is going somewhere that could be dangerous, I just try my best to spot it and land at the DZ with directions. However, if it looks like it might land in an open field I might follow it, and have done hop n pops to land next to gear before. BTW the same answers can be applied to a down jumper. If I can land next to them and not risk getting hurt AND I think I can render aid... I'll land with them. But if I think I might get hurt as well. I just record the location as best I can and land at the DZ to get medical help there as fast as possible. I did some training that involved a tandem, some tunnel time and then started with AFF4 single jump master. This was military, so we could do pretty much whatever we wanted, but the students performed very well. Also, the Tandem can count as L1, the 15-20 mins of tunnel don't count for anything, but made it so we all felt great about single JM AFF4. So ideal in my world: 1. Tandem to teach the landing pattern and get the experience in a safe setting. 2. 20 mins of tunnel to teach freefall skills. 3. Single JM AFF 4,5,6,7. 4. High solo. 5. 5-6 hop n pops to teach spotting and low exits. 6. Coaching program. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334

Depends on how much time and how much energy the student is using to converse with them... AND that depends on the student. I watch my student and the second I think it is getting out of hand, I either start talking to the student about what we are doing to get them back into thinking about THIS jump... Or I ask the guy to let my student think about the jump... Only a few times have I ever had to go any further. Most people respect that we have a job to do. Only ONCE have I ever had to land after a jump and flat out tell someone to NEVER talk to my student on the plane... To her credit, she never did again. 4k might be a bit high, IMO. But hey, that's YOUR call and it is YOUR student. "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms." -- Thomas Jefferson, Thomas Jefferson Papers, 334
