  1. Yep. When racing bikes I had a big crash.. The medics thought I has snapped my back so did the fully monty for a spine injury, I was a crumpled wreck when they got me in the meatwagon but through the pain, still managed a 'thumbs up' to my fans. Luckily I had only broke 2 ribs (near my spine) and both of my wrists. The wrists were put into casts... both of them. Unluckily, I had a job interview the following week... And the week after that I did jury service, and got a lot of stick from the judges for both my arms being in casts. 6 weeks after the crash the casts came of and I made my return to racing... And promptly crashed again and REALLY hurt myself this time round. The doctors said I would never regain full movement in this and never be able to do that blah blah blah. As soon as I came out of physio I contacted a friend of mine who was a prison guard at the local prison. He was also the PT instructor. For the next 4 to 5 months I went into the prison everyday and trained with the inmates. (que the rocky music). They pushed me too and through barriers I never knew existed. I returned to racing the following season, my first day back I won all 3 races and won every one of them by over 25 seconds. BP

  9. Part of your response was to something I did not post. Quote But my initial response to this post was that 15 years ago you may have been arrogant, ignorant with your nose in the air. 5 years ago you may have run into some problems and became humbled but had no self-esteem, whereas today you've grown from your mistakes and appreciate life more. Quote I understand this but I don't think this is it. There have been times when i have felt terrible but looked great. I don't think you can pin all outward appearance on self esteem and life experiences. To me it seems like something genetic that surfaces from time to time. Or maybe it is our perceptions of what is or is not ugly that collectively changes over time. BP

  16. alcohol Do you mean the alcohol in aftershave cos it dries your skin out and makes you look older, wrinkly and haggard? It’s a nice idea but there must be more to it than that. BP
  17. I know this all depends on your viewpoint but what makes us more or less ugly looking? Examples: Today I look uglier than I did 15 years ago, but I look more attractive than I did 5 years ago. It is the same thing with people I know. There are some people who were pug ugly years ago, but now they are blooming gorgeous. And it has nothing to do with weight. And there are people who were ugly and still are. So, what makes us more or less ugly looking? BP
