  1. Stop the bodge job, forget the sticky goo, find a patch and sew it on
  2. Used to be a PG man myself, but have now progessed to earl grey.. great with lemons
  3. I broke my right shoulder 2 years before I started jumping snapped the ball clean in two. Although I did not need a pin, my movement is restricted to less than 90%. I used to get alot of pain in my shoulder when I first started and one time my position was so poor at deployment I flipped over and dumped on my back (not good). When it came to buying a rig I spoke to the guy I was buying from and told him my problems. Basically he said similar things to what this forum has said, I.E BOC tends to be much safer than LEG. But what he did do is have me try on different sizes and types of rigs. I was very suprised at the difference a well fitting rig can have and have never had any pain or problems deploying BOC on my own rig. So my advice is try on different rigs when you come to buy, or better still have one made to measure for your bulging dimensions!! It does make a difference. One thing though, I wouldent buy a leg deployment without at least trying it... you could also have some other rock on your frame hindering leg deployment
  4. I've only jumped at 1 DZ in Florida - Skydive Sebastian. Did my first AFF jump with Vladi Pesa and Mick Hall which was a great. Those guys really got me hooked. Been back to Florida a few times but only ever jumped at Seb, did try to jump at Lake Wales once but the place was closed??? Im willing to try any DZ where the humour is better than the English .
  5. Wow Im amazed at the responses, I think I felt rather alone with the problem. Its comforting to know that Im not and moreover with a liitle care, it really is not a problem after all. I'll certainly be having a pocket sewn on my jumpsuit to carry an inhaler, even if I dont need it, it will always give me peace of mind. I think the most important thing I have gained from your responses is to know myself well enough to know when or when not to jump. Thanks to everyone who have replied and if enyone else has any other advice or experiences to share then I look forward to reading more.
  6. Hello everyone, Been a newbie for a few days and thought I'd introduce myself whilst I sip my earl grey tea in sunny England. I raced dirtbikes for 12 years then took up skydiving in '97. I've now done 70 jumps with most of these in Florida. Havent jumped much over the least 3 years due to educational commitments but I am coming back this year. I've already made one posting to a forum regarding 'Asthma and skydiving' and I've been blown away with the advice and insightful experiences in the responses. Really looking forward to talking to you all in the future and progreessing from a newbie to something else! Mike
  7. Hi all After a 2 year break I intend to come back to skydiving very soon. However, I was recently (1 year ago) diagnosed with Asthma. The preventers and relievers given to me by my Doctor have stopped and controlled any attacks. I cant seem to find any information about the effects of asthma on skydiving. My Doctor will sign me fit and well to jump but has no other advice to give. Is there anyone who can offer advice or experience in dealing with the effects of asthma while skydiving. (E.G Would I need to carry a reliever to altitude?) Mike
