Hi Dave, I was in the same position you are, when I was jumping (havent jumped in a long while now). I had almost got FS1, but needed a bit more training to complete the four-way. Hinton was also my home DZ. At the time, money was tight and I just wanted to fun jump. I discussed it with the CCI and he said it was OK to jump with someone of my own ability. So, he basically hooked me up with 1 other guy of similar ability to jump with, which was fun. Bottom line though, is complete the FS1. Mike

I watched a programme the other day that was all about the Abrham Lincoln throughout the Iraq war. (cant remember what it was called - shown in UK) Anyway, the film followed a few of the crew members and the events on the carrier in this period. One particular event they covered was soon after land forces began their insertion, when a large sand storm rolled in. The effect of this was that air cover could not be provided by the land bases and need to be provided by the Lincoln. The film showed the captain trying to evade the advancing sand storm to give the pilots the window to take off and land. Eventually the sand storm engulfed the ship and put visibility very low. The storm was so ferocious that the landing officer guy was get his face pepered by the sand and was clearly in pain. All of the aircraft landed (2 had to abort and retry). Tehy showed te pilots afterwards and each one of them was shaken by then experience. And then they went back out to provide the cover to the land forces. Im very proud of our UK forces, but I was totally amazed at the bravery and professionalism of the all the crew on the Lincoln. Everyone of them desrve medals for that day. Mike

Weather is nice here too.. Which makes it even worse cos Im stuck in this smelly office working with a bunch of A..holes who only talk about Golf, Fishing and other boring rubbish.. The guy next to me just got a large bonus, so I ask him what he was going to do to celebrate. I expect him to say have a night out partying or a holiday or make my day and say he will try a tandem... But no he replied with "I think I will buy some nice shrubs for the garden and plant them over the weekend" My god, this chap is the youngest (22) on our team and all he can come up with his Gardening...
