I've had two people do this to me. It was totally stupid. The first guy told me he jumped from a farmers airplane with no training at all.He said he was " real high like 2000 feet or something." When I asked how long his delay was his reply was " I don't know, maybe like 500 ft? " When I asked him about his gear he said he didn't know but it was one of those directional kinds. The second guy told me he had over 500 jumps and he was learning to do tricks. I don't understand why people would lie like this.So I just called them both out and made asses of them in front of thier friends. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

Ron is very experienced and has incredible insight. I'm very sorry for what has happened, and wish Duane and Family only the best. Ron was only trying to gleen usable information from the situation at hand. Unfortunately, sometimes it's the only way we as skydivers can gain a better understanding of these unfortunate incidents. everyone here seems focused on main canopies, but you said you were going to purchase a rig. I assume You mean harness/container, main and reserve. The problem I see is fit for the harness. I have jumped harnesses that fit well on the ground, but were totally uncomfortable on opening.As far as I'm concerned you are taking a big risk if you don't at least check sizing with the manufacturer. I personally would have to jump it. Most manufacturers should be able to tell you if the rig will fit or not if you give them your measurements. Meatbomb Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

I have heard of large birds as high as 10,000 ft. Of course I've never seen one that high. I am a tower tech and notice that the buzzards in central Florida stay relatively low, but have seen them and other birds much higher than I would have assumed they would normally fly. it happened to me once on a hop and pop.it was no big deal. it started to deploy under my arm but as it came through it forced my arm around and managed to open quite nicely. scary for a second but it really wasn't as bad as you would think. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

I would take a stab at a guess and say between $1800 and $2000 US. but that's just a guess. best thing to do is look at the prices of similar gear in similar condition.Go to the classified ads and see what's listed, that's what I did and I sold my gear rather quickly and for a fair price.
