  1. the Safire is a great flying canopy but as already mentioned is cut differently. Also, through personal experience and an incident on our DZ, I have not found them to be the most forgiving canopy when it comes to landing. I will not slam any canopy or manufacturer, but I think some parachutes make better beginner canopies than others.Possibly you could see what's available to trade? Alot of people really love their Safires, but I find them to be a little more experienced. --------------------- Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

  3. you could use the insert type of earphones and put the playing device in your jumpsuit.Honestly though it's the last thing you should be concerned with while plummeting to earth at 120 mph or better. Some people use audible altimeters that slide in a small pocket of the helmet. You can hear them in freefall just fine. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  4. I'm a little confused about the wing loadng bit, how much do you weigh with your gear on? Above all of that, I think you will be more happy with a moderately loaded Sabre 2 than the Navigator. The Navigator is a fantasic canopy, but it is basically a student canopy. But most importantly, talk to your instructors. They are the ones who you should be taking advice from. 5. Quoteyou stop about 10 feet above them, then slowly sink down into your slot*** really?I've always been taught to enter the formation on level, never from above. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

  7. unfortunately no one here can really answer this for you. The people you jump with are telling you not to, but most of us don't know these people. We also don't know your history as far as canopy control goes. Above and beyond all of that, a 1:1 wing loading is pretty standard for beginning to intermediate pilots. I hate to sound like a jackass, but it sounds like your whole DZ is trying to tell you something. Might I suggest a canopy control course? ------------------------------------------------------ Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
  8. I'm there every weekend. I've been thinking about getting with Jari for some Birdman jumps, but I just got my canopy ( a Jedei ) and am unsure of the compatability. This is my first elliptical so i wouldn't want to end up with severe line twists while jumping the suit. Maybe I could borrow someones Spectre....... ------------------------------------------------------------ Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

  11. Quote I'm sure they'd understand. ***who cares if they understand? It's your life. You take your gear to as many riggers as you feel like if that's what makes you feel safe.Hell, I asked my rigger if he ever had a loss. As far as I'm concerned, it's all about me. It's my gear and until I am allowed to pack my own reserve, I'll take it wherever I choose and ask whatever questions I choose. Your rigger has to be someone you trust, but don't just trust him because he's a nice guy, or he's the only one in your area. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!

  14. yes but even under a larger main you still run a higher risk of reinjury if you are not completely healed in the first place. By no means am I saying not to upsize, I'm just saying that if you are worried about flying a canopy at a 1:1 wing loading then maybe it's still a little too early. ------------------------------------------------------------ Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!
