Thanks. I can remember a few years so rainy we thought we should auction off our event to any drought stricken county in the country that wanted have 3 days of solid rain.

We and the sky were right here all along. Good to see you back.

I'm pretty sure you'd be welcome.

Need a pilot with jump plane in WY this weekend

I knew a FSDO manager out here who would state "Skydiving is not a legitimate aviation activity." And he worked very hard sometimes to make our lives miserable. -

I hate those god damned FSDO guys and their over-inflated sense of worth. They drive me up a wall. -

Yep, very good advice. I've done some "no see first" demos, but only when they've been checked out by jumpers I trust. I prefer to walk the landing area first. -
Damn, and since you were probably the tallest thing there. . . Glad it missed ya. That'd scare me out of my socks.

Oh yeah. That's why I rarely go anywhere but here in the summer. Last weekend up at Mangin's DZ at Oak Harbor, surrounded by water, it was cool-ish and breezy each day. Pretty nice for the middle of summer.

And in much of it, Class E and G airspace, you have much latitude to conduct all kinds of VFR activities, from aerobatics, hot air ballooning, general aviating and skydiving without any permission from ATC. Of course, skydiving requires the pilot receive traffic advisories prior to jump, but not permission. Nope, the FAA doesn't want us to exit over people, just in case the parachute doesn't work. They have little faith in our mad skilz. (a) No person may conduct a parachute operation, and no pilot in command of an aircraft may allow a parachute operation to be conducted from that aircraft, over or into a congested area of a city, town, or settlement, or an open-air assembly of persons unless a certificate of authorization for that parachute operation has been issued under this section. My first demo was piloting a 2 stack into the open lawn of a community college. I had 115 jumps and a fresh C license. It went really well. I'd want to see the golf course and where the crowd was, maybe check the wingloading and see how the guy flew his canopy before getting to worked up (or approving it, probably). I think we keep forgetting that 170 jumps is not a noob and that golf courses tend to be really, really big. IMHO. -
Just checked the forecast for the DZ. Looks like clear and sunny this afternoon.

Yeah, and look out yer window today. Low fog and drizzle. I was gonna go jumping today. We don't at our new place, just box fans and one portable A/C. Got one quote for AC at about 5K but haven't ordered it yet. Do you get better deals on the off season?

I've done those into my back yard several times with nothing more than filing a notam. As I understand it, that's not even required now. What do you mean by "public" airspace. I mean, Uncle Sam owns all of it, A,B,C,D,E and F, right? *** Regardless, the National Transpoyation and Safety Board (NTSB) typically rules that if anyone was watching it, it was considered to be an open-air assembly of people and requires the form Form 7711-2 to be filled out and approved, so simple notification is not enough. Jumping into a wedding if there were spectators present would definitely be considered a demo jump by the NTSB. Isn't all this for jumping over or into an open-air-assembly-of-people? What if you're jumping over and into a vacant field 500' or more away? -

Good. Then don't jump OVER them. You're jumping over and landing in an open field. The FAA doesn't mind if jumpers get killed out in the middle of open fields. They just don't want them bouncing on a taxpayer. -
Advise on returning after injury.

Beech 18, though not ideal, has been used for years. What's a turboliner? -

Lots of ticket sales, lots of prizes. Thanks to all who've bought so far. Grimmie, your tickets are in the bucket and I copy what you're hoping to get. For those of you who will be at the Boogie, just picked up a cool local prize today. A Pacifico Beer Beach Bike in Bright Yellow, with fat white wall tires, perfect for riding from bar to bar. Sorry to say it's a local prize, but I ain't mailing that one to Poughkeepsie. -
Our DZ has very nice rental gear, and our DZO even encourages experienced jumpers taking long breaks from the sport to sell their gear while it's still worth something and just rent gear for the occasional jump. When you consider the costs of repacks, AAD depreciation, etc. it's much cheaper and smarter to rent for anything less that a dozen jumps a year.

I don't feel you need to be that current to make simple skydives. Upsize, keep your loads small and simple, pull a little higher and land slowly. IMHO.

Shouldn't it look like this?

Looks beautiful. V and I have only done Thailand once, skydiving for a couple of weeks, but it was one of the most wonderful places I've been. It ranks at the top with us for fun, food, friendly locals, scenery and adventure. Sorry to hear a mega resort is moving in. They pave paradise and put up a parking lot.

Coming out to dropzone.com as world's 1st transgender TI ;-)

Could have used you over here. There's always some guy that doesn't want to be strapped to a dude, and it seems most of our female TM's have moved on or are have quit tandems. -
Perhaps tunnel vision played a part. I'm not sure how high he was when he lost his engine, but could have been super busy and/or super scared and not scanned his landing area sufficiently. Tough stuff.

In the state I live in you can shoot back.
