  1. Good idea but my arms are only a couple of feet or so long. After that they have a long time to entangle my reserve. Maybe try to steer the main into a down plane first.
  2. How about a tailgate helo? We also did C130's in Thailand. Skyvans are cool, Hercs are just a notch or two better.
  3. Thanks for the heads up. I once got my altimeter stuck in there.
  4. This one? Maybe unstable. Standard biplanes tend to be pretty stable. I've seen 2 landed in the last month or so. Please read my post above about chopping a biplane.
  5. Without reading the other replies, I say keep the main and fly it. It looks like the reserve, even though with line twists, is following the main. I would be on hair trigger alert for that thing to split to a downplane. I'd certainly locate my cutaway handle early. Remember where those main risers go if you chop. Straight back into your last parachute. I know someone who died chopping a biplane.
  6. Now we're half a step away from a passenger weight limit discussion. That's the one that bugs me.
  7. Naw, man, that's art. And to think I thought brewing beer was a cool hobby.
  8. Nope, they made it in. I'm not a statistician, but I'm always surprised at how one jumper will win 2-3 items and others get skunked. I'm sure it's all logical, but it's not intuitive to me. One guy put in just ONE single ticket. Won a 4 pack of Mariners Baseball tickets. Don't hate him. He's a great guy.
  9. Yes, and I didn't see it. It's still under investigation. I did talk to several witnesses and they had mixed observations. I said "high performance canopy accident" as a descriptor to gear and wingloading. Causes are still undetermined. Sad, sad day. Thanks for your reply.
  10. Damn good guitarist but I think he's doing the smaller venues these days. I'd like to see either Beck.
  11. I've never been to Red Rocks but I've heard it's a great venue. Wish I'd been there.
  12. Sucks. Anyone know the story?
  13. Still jump a round occasionally? I want to party with you, Wendy. Hugely agree.
  14. On a very sad note, one that I'm afraid we're all too familiar with, a visiting jumper, Ryan Erickson, lost his life in a high performance canopy accident early Sunday afternoon. He was a respected jumper and tandem master with close to 1000 jumps. Very many people are grieving tonight. He will be deeply missed. Everyone be careful out there, okay?
  15. I have your request list. I'll make a few inquiries.
  16. Thanks, Remi. I tried to put yours on top this year in the bucket. Valinda said we raised close to 20K for medical research, with $ still coming in from matching funds, corporate and charity tandem jumps. All you guys are the best.
  17. Once a year, at the LFL, whether he needs to or not.

Remi, I'm super sorry, but they wouldn't let me draw the tickets. . . You did have one come up for a free pack job, but you had to be at the event for that one. So close. As always, a huge thanks to everyone who donated, to all the manufacturerers and distributors that support us, and all the volunteers that make the event happen. We really, really appreciate it all.
  19. Flying isn't risky, but it is dangerous to the arrogant. That descriptor probably fits many CEO's, doctors, lawyers, etc.
  20. Okay, Remi, the drawing is tomorrow. I have all my fingers crossed for you but we sold a LOT of tickets today. Vskydiver sends her love. We had a great day today, cloudy in the morning but almost 20 loads in the afternoon into the evening, with a beautiful sunset head down load. Tomorrow should be even better. For those of you that can make it, we have salmon, smoked trout, kegs of beer, all the makings of a great feast tomorrow night. I got the mail tonight and have gotten tickets in the drawing for all. Thanks again to everyone, both sponsors and people buying the tickets, for all your support. Wish you all could be here.
  21. Just remember that the FAR's are law, and you can get in big trouble busting 'em. But correct, the USPA does not regulate skydiving. You can ignore them all day long and skydive to your heart's content. I've known a couple of folks that have done just that. Isn't the same true with tandems. As long as you have your Manufacturer's rating, you don't need a USPA ticket, right?
  22. Darn, sorry we missed you this year. A little illness in the family canceled our trip.
