Vskydiver and I will too. Fashion Police was one of our favorite shows. . . Thanks for the great post.

Boy, they sure have you spend a lot of time on the net. You look okay. Don't worry about back flips and barrel rolls. The real test is getting stable afterwards. I really don't care how sloppy the maneuver is. Tracking is not something learned in the tunnel either. Just concentrate on going in a straight line and work on speed later.

I've gone the Cookie G3 route too.

Hey enjoy the music, but here is hoping you aren't happy about the game! (Go Pack) Gotcha by 20. Soundgarden and Pharrell both rocked it hard. Blue skies, lots of folks, played "Spoonman" and "Rusty Cage". I was happy.

The usual punk rock rotation on my MP3 and a little NPR jazz and blues. Going to see Soundgarden and Pharrell Williams play before the Seahawks game this afternoon. Go Hawks!

We are extremely lucky the FAA lets jump operations fly as Part 91 operations, general, instead of the much more restrictive Part 135, flying for hire.
-
Oh boy, how many times has that been proven?

I've heard of this happening before and ATC telling the guys they didn't have time to baby sit them. Any group of jump pilots should be able to separate themselves from each other just by following a basic climb route away from the DZ and a little company radio communication. On the other hand, ATC's job is to give the jump pilot traffic information when the pilot makes the "one minute prior to jump" call. If the air traffic controllers refuse THAT, please PM me with the details. At that point you literally have a federal case.

Closing pins piercing bridles - Total Malfunction
JohnMitchell replied to Skydivesg's topic in Gear and Rigging
Some time ago I reverted to old school and now bring my bridle up from the bottom, same way we did in the early 80's . Problem solved. -
That jump can be done safely, but it needs the right jumper and proper planning. That's all.

Stuff old StratoStars with feathers and they make excellent down comforters.

You went blind Nope, just 'til he needed glasses.

Fun, then really, really fun, then kinda boring?

Gawd, that video is amazing.

Return student aff after broken arm but....
JohnMitchell replied to rogerpidactor's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Pretty tough thing to return from. I've had this sport beat me up a few times. One of the best things for nerves is positive visualization. Keep running a video preview of your next jump over and over in your head. Watch everything proceed perfectly and smoothly, from exit to soft landing. Try to imagine the wind, muscle movements, noises, etc. as vividly as possible. Keep the positive images in your head and use them to block the negative images. -
Salt water powered car given licence for road testing
JohnMitchell replied to rifleman's topic in The Bonfire
Sounds like cold fusion. I've got enough chemistry background to opine that there's no potential energy in salt water that can drive a car 240 mph. I smell something fishy. -
One of my favorite movies is "Patton." Epic WWII film studying a character larger than life. I pull the blueray out maybe once a year to watch it. I, too, also enjoy Dr. Strangelove from time to time. Who couldn't love Slim Picken's role?

Awwwwe! Hey, sweet GoPro. Take it to the DZ and auction it off. I love my 1 but wouldn't mind a 3.
-
Yeah, you dig out a credit card and they nick you $1.05 online to do that, per person.

It's a fuckin' blog post, not a law or regulation. Yeah, a writer's got to make a living somehow, even if it's drivel.

I don't see the advantage of doing this, and there are certainly downsides. Remember that midair collision not too long ago? It can be hard enough to make an emergency exit by yourself. Trying to do that with a scared passenger would probably be harder. Just the complication factor alone that someone else mentioned makes it a bad idea. FAR's let you do a lot of things, many with varying degrees of risk. The FAR's don't even require us to open our parachutes. It's perfectly legal to go in, as long as your reserve is in date.

Put up a damn picture of something fun you've been doing
JohnMitchell replied to JohnMitchell's topic in The Bonfire
Just sold one of those and a gallon of nitro at my last garage sale. Ahh, one of the icons of my childhood. -
It would be easier just to ferment the prune juice and have a drink.

My dad and I, and later my son and I, flew some line control. All the screwing around with glow plugs and batteries, fueling and priming, and then the flip-flip-flip to start those darn things. . . Still pretty good memories, though.
