  1. Altitude, one final look around, throw pilot chute, keep shoulders and hips level, ready to get on rear risers and looking around for other canopies… check canopy, check airspace and opening point, release brakes, check airspace again, control check, check airspace… fly… (with eyes wide open)! Vicki
  2. Errr... have you seen my attempts at drawing?! It would look like a Valentines card made by Vicki age 3! In fact he'd be doing well to figure out it was a Valentines card at all! Vicki
  3. I'm pretty nearly done with his present (just one or two more bits to get I think), but I still haven't found the right card yet! I hate card shopping... Vicki
  4. I really need to sort out Valentines Day stuff… or there will be one really not very chuffed gremlin on Saturday! Vicki
  5. I so know that feeling... Yep! Me too. Almost lunchtime though so I can go shopping for an hour. Woo-hoo - the excitement is a killer... not! V bored too! Vicki
  6. You're in Spain! So unfair!!!!! Vicki
  7. Hey Caz! I know that feeling. Bored, bored, bored... c'mon someone! I've had a crappy, shitty week and I need some fun and excitement! Vicki
  8. I’m pretty sure it’s 1st April – but check www.netheravon.com for the full statement. Vicki
  9. I wonder which clever, clever person came up with that idea! Vicki
  10. Nethers has reasonable bunk house accommodation – I never stay there (always in a caravan!) – I think it’s £2 per night with a £10 key deposit. Showers are pretty decent too. Stansted is Essex - definitely entirely the wrong direction for Nethers! Vicki
  11. I’m sure Macca will answer this in due course, but Heathrow and Gatwick are on the right side of London for Nethers. Easyjet certainly fly in and out of Gatwick (but whether they do so from Scotland or not, I don’t know). I think BMI fly in and out of Heathrow from Scotland if that helps!
  12. OK – I can give you a reasonable comparison here – I have a fair few jumps on Sabres – most recently 300+ on a Sabre (1) 135. I then got sick of the sh*tty, unpredictable openings and bought a Spectre 135 which I now have 30-40 jumps on. I love the openings, but prefer 9 cell type landings. I demo-ed the Pilot 140 and 132 at Eloy and I have nothing but praise for it! The openings are beautiful – nicer than my Spectre, which is something I just didn’t believe was possible!
  13. Nice one Macca! I will definitely be at the Nethers event. Will do my best to make it to the Hib one too, depending on the date that is selected! Vicki
  14. I load my Spectre 135 at just over 1.2. I find that the landings are a lot nicer if I am wearing 12lbs of lead which take my wingloading up to around 1.3 ish. A lightly loaded Spectre is a lovely, forgiving docile canopy but if you load them a bit (I personally wouldn’t go higher than 1.4 or so) then they’re good fun and (for me) nicer to land. Try one and see what you think! Vicki
  15. Some useful info here Matt: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do%3Dpost_view_flat%3Bsb%3Dpost_latest_reply%3Bso%3DASC%3Bpost%3D797163%3B=Previous+Thread Someone posted the formulae (or a link to it) in that thread. Vicki
  16. Someone please tell me that that baby will be ready for jumping by the time I’m there at Easter… pretty please????!!!! Vicki

Incredible huh?! I hope they party damn hard tonight - they've deserved it! Vicki
  18. What’s the story with these pictures? If we can’t see them, can we at least have a description? Vicki
  19. I jump in the UK and it gets pretty cold over here and is damp for quite a lot of the year. Personally, I jump a Z1 and have only ever had that ice up once (on a night jump when it was –36 at altitude!) and misting up occasionally on cold days, but I have heard Factory Diver owners complaining a lot about their helmets misting up on cold days. I’m not sure if there is an easy answer, for me it’s simple, I jump in a cold, wet country (lucky me!) so I choose to jump a full face helmet with a flip up visor! Vicki
  20. Not to hand… I found them in the minutes section of the expensive BPA website, so I’m sure you will find them there if you’re bored enough! What you’ve put sounds about right though. Vicki
  21. Simple - it means they'd lose far too much money because they wouldn't be ripping us all off £105 per year as a significant proportion of the membership would just take out 45 day temp membership to cover say July and August! I know when I renew it'll be joint membership - not giving them a penny more than I have to! Vicki
  22. There’s no option for “People in the UK should be able to get temporary membership on the same terms as foreign, visiting jumpers”. I’d certainly agree with that! In general, I feel that the BPA is a complete rip off. There is one way to save a (small) amount of money though – take out joint membership. You don’t need to be married, or attached or even in a relationship – just take out joint membership with a mate and you save a couple of quid. It’s not a huge amount, but will bring your BPA membership down below £100. The only downside is you only get one mag between you. But I think I can live with that! Vicki
