I think I’ll be down at Headcorn next time I need a re-pack. Or possibly for the southerns… unless anyone can give me another reason to pop down? Vicki
-
This a probably a stupidly obvious suggestion that you’ve already thought of and that it won’t work for whatever reason… but I’ll say it anyway… have you tried asking the CCI of Hinton? Vicki

In a nutshell – big, round, no slider, slightly steerable, front mount reserve (also round - not steerable!) and PLF non-negotiable! Vicki

I’ll buy you a celebratory beer when you make it over to Nethers! Vicki
-
I think I’ll take that as a compliment!

Today is my 10th sky-birthday! 10 years ago today, aged 16, I did my very first static line round jump at Headcorn!
-
Hey congratulations! I have my 10th sky-birthday tomorrow and I know what you mean - that makes me feel old too! Vicki

Apart from the occasional hard opening, Sabres are nice enough canopies. They fly well, land well and are pretty forgiving. The downside is those openings… about 1 in 100 jumps it will slam for no apparent reason – even if you have packed it exactly the same as you always do. Having said that, I have owned 2 Sabres (a 150 and a 135 – the 135 always seemed to behave better) and apart from the occasional nasty opening, they were pretty good canopies. I finally replaced my Sabre 135 with a Spectre 135 before Christmas and I would recommend a Spectre to anyone looking for a first canopy – lovely openings, flies nicely and easy landings! Also much more solid in turbulence than a Sabre.

Hmmm... shit yeah, that party is generally too damn good to miss! Don’t think I will be doing a 4way team this year but may do some comps. Sorry Macca! Vicki

vt1977 + gremlin – we are both into flat flying Vicki

But tempting them with things like "free beer" seems to organise them quicker than anything else on earth! (Unless of course it's Bud Light!) Vicki

IMHO all IC1 teaches is the barest basics of using risers before getting people to do the 5 consecutive pre-declared landings. I know of far too many people who have hurt themselves (none seriously – yet) on that 5th jump when they thought they might miss the target and have to start all over again… Having said that, the quality of teaching for IC1 does appear to massively vary between DZs and individual instructors. I agree that the accuracy part is important (but would question the consecutive part, as I think that just encourages target fixation) but would also like people to be taught far more about basic survival skills and getting themselves out of trouble – flat turns etc. Also teaching people a bit about flying in traffic is vital – not just about flying a nice predictable pattern but also about keeping their eyes wide open. Just my thoughts! Vicki

I think a lot of people will be in California over the Easter weekend. Including me!!! I can't wait! Vicki

Langar 8-9 or Nethers 1-2 would get my vote. Langar because of the skyvan and it is central for everyone, with a HUGE DZ and turbines galore, not to mention a great bar. Nethers because of the 2 for 1, the great facilities, the even huger landing area, the great aircraft and the fantastic bar! Vicki
-
Langar is a great DZ – and the skyvan should be there for the boogie which has to be a bonus. However, a warning for the faint hearted: AVOID the showers! Langar’s showers have to be the worst DZ showers I have ever seen, although I have heard rumours of new ones. Anyone know if they’ve done it yet? Vicki
-
The weekends of the Langar boogie are always very well attended so I would suggest moving the dates unless you want to hold the dz.com mini boogie at Langar! Vicki
-
Hmmm... although my vote would be for Nethers and 2 for 1 is clearly awesome... I have a nasty feeling that these dates clash with the Langar Boogie so I have a feeling attendance might be low. Vicki

But at least she’ll know that it’s him when he calls so that she can pretend to be a Chinese takeaway/speeding fines payment line or something similar! Vicki

He was a bit much, but at least he wasn’t creepy like his horrible, growling mate. As for mobile numbers, if Alana still has his, I vote it gets put on some cards and left in phone boxes… with adverts for men to call for man on man action! Vicki
-
He was a fully paid up weirdo. Just goes to show that (except for at a DZ !) there really is no such thing as free beer… or champagne! Vicki
-
OK – they were really, really, really creepy. Girls – did you manage to escape ok? I’m sure Clay looked after you both! Vicki
-
I met Clay too! Another fun night with the American chicks.

Nethers in May gets my vote! Vicki
