  1. Depends what part of London you're in... if you're in South London you could give Headcorn Parachute Club a call (01622 890862) and take it down to them. They are only an hour by train out fo London Bridge. hth Vicki
  2. The only thing to be aware of with the Techno is that Parachutes de France will not sell their products in the USA. Vicki
  3. I unknowingly celebrated with you at lunchtime… with a particularly yummy baked potato! Vicki
  4. Ok...I see what you mean (and no offence to JR!). Kathy is really lovely and JR is a great guy. I arrived at Quincy on my own one year, my beer time not just there but in the USA and I jumped with those guys for the whole boogie. They rock! Vicki
  5. ...Macca must still be in Florida! Vicki
  6. Are Kathy and JR still at Chambersburg? I jumped with them at Quincy several years ago and they were just the loveliest people.
  7. :0:1 No jumping this weekend - howling winds, rain and a bit of hail. English weather really does suck Gremlin and I went to a wedding on Saturday and we surely must owe beer for, whilst standing outside the church after the service, watching the howling winds catch the bride's veil and blow it onto the roof of the church! Vicki
  8. Do a search - there are a load of threads on here about nasty Sabre openings and what does or does not tame them! Vicki
  9. Will be good to see you again Iwan! Vicki
  10. I look forward to meeting you all!
  11. From my point of view, it depends who the man is! Vicki
  12. I did 2 jumps at Netheravon last Saturday. Could have done more but it really was getting a bit too windy! There has actually been a fair amount of jumping going on at Nethers this year, assuming you don't mind being really, really cold! Vicki
  13. Spoiled brat. I forgot to mention that I'm going to Empuriabrava in October without him! Vicki
  14. Where did he take you to? Erm... Empuriabrava a few times, Eloy at Christmas, Elsinore next month and Sweden in July. He's good! Vicki
  15. I’m going to be in the Perris/Elsinore area between 4th and 13th April and I would love to meet up and have a drink or a jump with as many of you guys as possible!
  16. Date: Saturday 13/03/04 Alt: 13,500’ Aircraft: Grand Caravan DZ: Netheravon Description: 8way – I came off launch… star, diamond flake, arrow head – 6 points. Good fun but way, way, way too cold! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr! Vicki
  17. Generally good stuff Matt - maybe at the top of the gear section it would be wise to stress in big letters to speak to instructors about kit choices (both canopies and containers) and to get any potential purchase looked over by a rigger. On the subject of reserves, I like but I guess there would be no harm in including the words "or bigger". Also I think you should include some mention of staying within the manufacturers recommendations for their weight and experience level. As for... remind me never to lend any of your lot a knife on a 20 minute call! Vicki

  19. Hey Denise, I’ve been plagued with ear/sinus problems for my entire jumping career. The best advice I can give you is if in doubt just don’t do it! If you judge it wrong and jump when you shouldn’t (even if you don’t physically damage anything) the pain can be beyond excruciating. My general rule of thumb is that if your ears will clear on the ground then you are probably ok to jump – if I am in any doubt at all, I will always try a hop and pop from no higher than 3,500’. If you think you are ok (i.e. can clear your ears easily on the ground) but still feel a little bunged try some of those Listerine thin strips and/or something strong and minty in your mouth on the way to altitude. If you wear a full face helmet, try a little (as in 1 or 2 drops) of Olbas oil in the nose/mouth piece. Good luck and please, please err on the side of caution - it’s only one weekend after all. (I had to sit out almost the entire summer last year and it was a killer ) Vicki
  20. Coincidentally, I'll be in California (Perris and Elsinore) in just under 3 weeks and I live just outside London! Let's meet up!
  21. Jeez! Anyone would think you couldn't get decent chocolate in the states... Vicki
  22. I'd vote chocolate for lunch, more chocolate for dinner and then eat Macca for breakfast! Tell him it's still cloudy and sh*tty in the UK and I'm not jealous of him... MUCH! Vicki
  23. Check this out: http://www.bpslangar.co.uk/html/events.shtml Langar Boogie is 1st to 9th May. Vicki
  24. Again off the top of my head, I'm pretty sure the Langar boogie is at the beginning of May. Any month that starts and ends with a bank holiday can't be bad! Vicki
