  2. This BoSox team is not sweepable. I don't think the Rox are sweepable either. Both of them are VERY strong teams. Arrive Safely John

  6. Field of Dreams was on AMC today . . . it had been a really long time since I had watched it. I had forgotten what a great movie that really was. My daughter asked me "Dad, can we buy that movie on DVD . . . today?" Arrive Safely John
  7. I strongly recommend that you fill out your profile so we know a little bit about you. We have been burned before in these forums by anonymous users with blank profiles asking "innocent" and many times controversial questions just to "stir the pot" for their own entertainment (trolls). Learning to skydive: the majority of your questions can best be answered in your first jump course and your early training by your instructors. Another good source of information (as already stated) is the USPA Skydivers Information Manual (SIM). The thread continues . . . Arrive Safely John

  11. As previously stated by many others who replied to this thread, loosening is common - disconnecting is not. I loosen my chest strao on every rig I jump, both military and civilian. Arrive Safely John
  12. The last one I remember was to carry a handheld radio. This was so that two women - one the student, one a wuffo friend - could talk to each other once she was under canopy. Since there incessant chatter with one another on the ground had gotten in the way of the waiver process, the briefing, the gear up, and the interview, I said no. They had literally not stopped talking to one another since they walked in the door and I was ready for a break from it. Arrive Safely John

  20. Sticky thread requests are not up to me in this forum - I have no Moderator privileges here. The repost is still no excuse for posting the home address. Arrive Safely John
  21. You all need to QUIT posting the home address of this family! Posting someone else's personal info on an internet forum is a very bad idea! Sending JP's daughters a birthday card is a WONDERFUL idea . . . there has already been a post on the subject, which Mods removed the address from and included "PM me for the address." I caught the Dave Matthews Band in concert in Charlotte last night. I was impressed . . . they played nearly three hours (after the opening act was done). They were incredibly tight and seemed like they were really enjoying themselves. They launched into some super-long improvs - a little more than I am used to. I will have to see them again to see if I am a fan of that method of musical delivery or not. Some very interesting dynamics from the event: -there was a HUGE crowd in the amphitheater-style venue, and it was a very festive laid back party type atmosphere. The only concert I ever went to that was close to that was Jimmy Buffett. -audience participation abounded, interestingly enough without any prompting from any of the musicians on stage. On several songs the whole place seemed like it was singing along. -I don't think I have ever heard any artist start off a concert with a soft, super-mellow song. -Dave Matthews has the uncanny ability to let his emotion build until it jumps off the stage into the crowd like a wave. That was really cool to see. I definitely want to see them again - this time I may try and choose a more unique location. Arrive Safely John
