  1. I saw the Hitman Movie on Thanksgiving night. Having played the first three games all the way through, I was interested to see how they did bringing the game to life on film. Overall I was happy with it - cold blooded and precise. The lead actor had the walk (viewed from behind like in the game) down COLD! Anybody else see it? What did ya think? Arrive Safely John
  2. I just find it funny that you think you have it all figured out. I sent you the rest in a PM. Arrive Safely John
  3. And you assumed I meant your reference to the privacy policy. Arrive Safely John
  4. You make an awful lot of assumptions. Arrive Safely John
  5. You have started seven threads since registering a month and a half ago. Four of them ask nearly the exact same question. You have a total of 10 posts, 3 of which are in the Recycle Bin. Four of those posts show an IP match with an existing user. Stop wasting our time. Arrive Safely John
  6. I recommend using the "Search Posts" function in the toolbar at the top of the forum window. A quick search revealed the following valuable discussions: http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=search_results&search_forum=all&search_string=life+insurance&search_type=AND&search_fields=sb&search_time=&search_user_username=&sb=score&mh=50 Arrive Safely John
  7. Using all caps on internet forums is like shouting. If your post is long it also makes it very difficult to read. Please use title case for your posts. Thanks. Arrive Safely John
  8. I think it is obvious by now that skydivers are going to talk about Skyride here in these forums. We have done our best to keep the conversations on topic by sweeping out the chaff, and to keeping the conversations to one or two key threads. Talking about Skyride here is not advertising - it is awareness for anyone coming on board that does not have any information on the subject, or does not completely know both sides of the story. If you think that increasing the likelihood of a Google search landing here is a bad thing - think again. Here are enough facts for the unknowing to make an informed decision; for the media investgating on their own; for anyone needing details. And . . . those who continue to post replies to this thread saying something like "why don't you all stop posting to these threads to make all this go away" are actually perpetuating what they are trying to get rid of simply by making those replies (a circle game). Skypapa has already been identified, both in public by a couple of people and in private discussion among the Moderators, as someone so intent on protecting their identity that they are not only posting with a blank profile, but also using a proxy server to remain anonymous. Think what you like about that tactic - throughout the history of these forums that kind of interaction has spoken for itself. Anonymity can sometimes serve a valid purpose for all concerned, but only in rare and specific cases is it something other than a one-way benefit. Having more than one username here is frowned upon unless there is a good reason for it. There are many of those that I won't mention here (a digression). Abusing the ability to register more than once is a definite no-no, but we like to be sure of ourselves before we act. Example: I have already read opinions from two different people as to skypapa's identity. It is fairly obvious that this user has a huge agenda, but we are going to treat them as we would all others - enforce the Forum Rules. In summary, the Skyride conversations are here to stay - if you don't like then, stop reading them. If you think someone is abusing multiple usernames, PM a Moderator in that particular forum. Continue to point out rule violations via PM to Moderators and we will deal with them objectively. I have kept my own opinions out of these threads on purpose to remain so. We are an internet forum - change the world we can't . . . change a few hundred minds we might. Carry on . . . Arrive Safely John
  9. Please take the one-on-one conversation to PMs so the oneliner exchanges don't clog up this thread. Thanks. Arrive Safely John
  10. Ironically, however, it seems that you have granted yourself permission to judge any and all opinions opposite your own whilst you stand diligently on the fantail of the Titanic playing your violin. All opinions are welcome here, as long as they are within the boundaries of the Forum Rules. That's why your opinions are here - opposing views bring balance to the entire discussion. whatever form they take or function they serve. Arrive Safely John
  11. Bonne chance, mon ami. Arrive Safely John
  12. Download AR 215-1 here: http://www.apd.army.mil/pdffiles/r215_1.pdf Search the document for "Sport Parachuting," which is what is referred to in the Army. The bottom line is that Sport Parachuting is a bona fide and regulated MWR activity. Granted, the Sport Parachute "Club" or "Activity" is a dying breed on Army bases worldwide - there were three clubs on Ft. Bragg when I arrived in 1984, and now they are all gone. Regardless, it is a regulated "High Adventure" MWR activity that is regulated by this AR and the USPA BSRs which are referred to within. I have known several generations of Post Parachute Safety Officers over the years, and each of them said it was important to follow the stipulations in this AR to ensure a line of duty "yes" in the event of an incident (e.g. wearing a helmet). On top of that, there still exists a high profile sport parachuting organization in the Army - the Golden Knights. Their requirements for application to tryout are oriented toward sport jumps, not military jumps. They jump sport gear, use the USPA rating and licensing system, and follow USPA BSRs. The new team members brought on board every year have to come from somewhere . . . if the clubs are disappearing, and soldiers are ordered not to skydive, where is the Team going to get its jumpers from? The relatively small pool of MFF jumpers is not going to sustain the manning requirements of the Team, expecially with a war on. Best of luck getting through this situation. Arrive Safely John

  16. There has been a recent explosion of threads on the subject of Skyride and its unethical business practices. This is the second such explosion . . . the first was shortly after ChasingBlueSky created the “What Can We Do About Skyride” thread in this same forum back in 2004. At that time, we made an effort to channel all of the Skyride conversations into that thread, so that the relevance of this very important discussion would remain contained in an easily searchable and accessible location. Since then, that thread has reached its own version of “critical mass;” nearly 159,000 views and 2276 posts. At this point, rather than contribute to that already massive thread, users are spinning off into their own threads to improve visibility. This is causing us to revisit controlling the explosion of threads on this subject. To that end, I have taken the following actions with the blessing of the site owner: [LI]The “Which DZs in Your State Accept Skyride?” thread has been locked[/LI] [LI]The “DZ.com Challenge” thread has been locked[/LI] [LI]The [url "http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=3015136;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;forum_view=forum_view_collapsed;">“Using the Media Against Skyride” thread has been locked[/LI] [LI]A new thread for continued Skyride conversations, called “What Can We Do About Skyride II” has been posted in this forum as the new location for all Skyride related discussions. Please keep all of your discussions on that subject in that thread; you can post links to previous conversations in the other threads so you don’t have to go through the effort of typing your thought again. That thread will contain links to some supporting content to the Skyride issue that I will pull from the original “What Can We” thread over time (it will take me a few days to comb through all of those posts). It also contains a link to the list compiled by Thanatos340, which I will continue to update as he sends me additions or changes. Please keep the new thread on topic in accordance with the Forum Rules. Any obvious efforts by users to spin the Skyride issue up in the new thread or others for their own entertainment, regardless of which side they are on, or attempts to get the new thread locked, will be dealt with accordingly (warnings, bans, etc.). Multiple usernames created to anonymously spam the forums to muddy the water will be forwarded to the site owner for deletion. This is an important issue, and we are all adults, please keep the conversations as such. Thanks, Arrive Safely John
  17. *Please read this thread first.* This is the new place for discussing Skyride related issues, as referred to in the thread I linked to above. Links to other supporting information: [LI]The original "What Can We Do About Skyride?" thread from 2004 (ChasingBlueSky)[/LI] [LI]The list of US DZs that accept (or don't accept) Skyride certificates (Thanatos240)[/LI] [LI]External Link - "The Complaints Board"[/LI] More to follow over the next few days as I post links to pertinent and important content from the original thread. This thread is now open for business . . . Arrive Safely John
  18. I have the MWR regulation at work. I'll send it to you when I get in today. What unit are you in? Arrive Safely John
  19. Despite repeated requests from myself and others to keep it from doing so, this thread continues to move (and stay) off-topic. The original topic, the list of DZs that accept the certificates, is drowning in the off-tpoic discussion. The list will continue - Thanatos340 can PM me the additions/deletions/changes and I will edit the original list to keep it updated. If you want to find the thread, I added a link to it in the "What Can We Do About Skyride" thread. The thread is done. Arrive Safely John
  20. [warning] No PAs in the forums . . . [/warning] Arrive Safely John
  21. You also left off the "nothing" option. The only time I carry anything intended to use on the ground is when I do HAHOs. For those I am usually carrying a radio, and I put my cell phone in my pocket. Arrive Safely John
  22. Please keep your thread titles brief. You will notice that most folks try and keep it down to one line. Thanks. Arrive Safely John
