Hi and welcome! I humbly suggest you search the posts for your questions before throwing out another. Here's a thread right up your alley! Arrive Safely John

Everyone I have talked to that have jumped the Icarus Tandem Canopies have spoken very highly of them. I would like to jump one myself. I know they make a 330, which is a bit small for me (insert big head jokes here), a 365, and a 400. I talked to one Tandem Master (Navy Seal, former Leap Frog, and current MFF Instructor) who jumps an Icarus 330 in Arizona, and he raves about it, especially the light toggle pressure. Anyone here have any experience with these canopies?? Arrive Safely John

Reflections on my reserve ride
slotperfect replied to skymama's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Andrea, First, I'm glad your emergency procedures went well, and I champion your decision making process. Next, I want to thank you for the way you shared your experience here in this thread. It was clear, concise, and objective. The way you have learned here in these forums, put what you have learned to good use, and shared it with us in this way, is what I see as the basis for why this website was created to begin with. I can't, of course, speak for Sangiro, but this thread is what these forums are all about. [Bows deeply] Arrive Safely John -
Stupid human tricks by Le Roy after eye surgery
slotperfect replied to leroydb's topic in The Bonfire
You shot video for one of our 16-ways last weekend, remember? Since the floater handle on the outside of the aircraft was already occupied by two other hands, I could have used another handle! Arrive Safely John -
The weekend's not over yet, but since the weather sucks and I have other plans today . . . 3(soccer games watched in the rain):2:0 Arrive Safely John

Copied/pasted from the Relative Workshop website: SIGMA w/ 360 reserve & SIGMA 370 main: $10183.50 Arrive Safely John

You'll get lots of opinions, as we skydivers are highly opinionated. For my vote, the Sigma, made by Relative Workshop is the safest rig on the market. The design reduces the number of possible malfunctions, both the tandem rig and student harnesses are incredibly comfortable, and it's very easy to pack. I am also VERY endeared to the Sigma Tandem canopies (370 and 395) made by Performance Designs for Relative Workshop. Bill Booth, owner of The Uninsured Relative Workshop, is a member of these forums. I have jumped: Sigma Tandem with Sigma 370 and Sigma 395 Mains Tandem Vector II with PD421, EZ384, EZ425 Mains Strong Dual Hawk with SET-400 and Master 425 Mains Hope that helps!

DiverDriver.com Skyvan update.
slotperfect replied to diverdriver's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I have a looong list of different aircraft I have jumped from, but the SkyVan isn't on it. I was on a SkyVan lift at DeLand one day, but we got canceled because of heavy fog. I have a TON of jumps out of her bigger (and equally boxy) sister the C-23B Sherpa, though. I attached a file picture I found as an example. Arrive Safely John -
Which part of the dive do you enjoy more?
slotperfect replied to SkydiveMonkey's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I enjoy the whole process, but which part (freefall vs. canopy) depends on what I'm doing. Tandems, for example are much more fun under canopy and during/immediately after landing. I'm always training, working on something or other trying to improve myself. It serves me well. Arrive Safely John -
I have emailed a reliable source with the question . . . waiting on the reply, which I will post when I get it. Arrive Safely John

I could have used that as a floater handle on our 16-way the other day! Arrive Safely John -
Welcome to DZ.com and the forums! Can you give us some feedback on the Incident Forum and how useful it was for you? It would be good to hear that from a new person's perspective. Arrive Safely John

Welcome Johnnie! Sounds like you have a great plan! I have been to the tunnel in Pigeon Forge, although it was a long time ago. Your tunnel visit will make your first skydive after the layoff much more productive. Have fun and keep us posted on your progress! Arrive Safely John

Welcome Maya! This is a great place to spend your time in the "off season." Of course, you could always come on down to Raeford and hang out with us! Arrive Safely John

Congrats on your breakthrough into the world of skydiving! And yes, having a wife that supports your passion is incredible. Get her involved if she is interested, but in her own time - don't rush it. Arrive Safely John

I am a big guy (6'2", 220) and I fall fast. I also have a ton of jumpsuits. To get through the AFFCC I trained using one suit, and used the same one throughout the course. It was my biggest baggiest suit with booties. I suited myself to suit my weakness, which is dealing with a floater. It worked well. Train train train with it, though . . . and don't forget to put your evaluators in a suit that works best for you and your partner. Try and jump once with each evaluator before your actual eval jumps so you know their fall rate.

It's a great canopy, Russ. Enjoy it! I wish you many happy (tandem) surfs with it . . . er . . . I mean . . . sliding tandem landings! Arrive Safely John

Welcome, Roy . . . glad to have you here. Glad you like us!!! Arrive Safely John

And I will be jumping those Sigmas Chuck sends back for retrofit with complete confidence. In December Bill showed me the videos from the test jumps, spinning canopy cutaways and all. I am sold. Arrive Safely John
