Hell yah its easier to predict where things are that dont move (i.e. powerlines). You think Roger was predicting that guy running into him? You think that guy predcicted Roger being where he was?? I do 8000 full circles of awareness while under canopy, but just like any traffic pattern, it changes every single second - ask Roger and the guy who ran into him. You see roads moving? What about telephone poles next to the roads?? My 1 cent. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Tarnished from student status??
freakydiver replied to WrongWay's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Demand respect. Welcome to life dood - there are assholes all over the place with small dicks that love to rip on you. I grew up with it cuz I was a genious and kids fucked with me left and right till one day I actually stood up for myself. IMHO - the biggest problem plaugin the human race is communcation or rather lack of it. Perhaps the people dogging you need to hear from you that it is pissing you off and making you very uncomfortable and then they will ease off of it. You need to confront this shit head on and make people aware of what and how they are making you feel or else all is for nothing. I'm all for great vibes - but shit, for example, I'm not the most outgoing guy in the world, and I have been jumping on and off at Mile Hi here in Denver, CO for like five years now. This was the first summer where I've actually met a good solid group of individuals that actually remember my name and look for me on the weekend. In those five years, I must have contemplated selling my shit at least a dozen times. All and all, I'm glad I didn't as I am now looking forward to the next dozen summers with my newfound friends. Look at it this way my friend, it can only get better - but you need to be proactive to make it how you want it. No one else is going to help you out on this one. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -

All I can say is wow - what a blumber. Thank god he's ite. Pack your own shit always in my humble opinion. Blue ones... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -
I understand - my only point was that IMHO in some circumstances, it is easier to point out where potential powerlines may be since they usually follow a road. It may not be so easy to pick out a canopy underneath you if you don't specifically do a full circle of awareness check under canopy... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Tarnished from student status??

But Ron - that is just, well, so simple! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -
I kind of respectfully disagree, one may not be looking hard enough for another canopy OR powerlines. If one knows what signs to look for, power lines may be easier to pick out if one is looking for them than a canopy coming from above and behind that they really aren't looking for (as in Roger's case)... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

"The best way to overcome that is to get better than they are." Absofukkenlutely! Nothing pisses someone off more who speaks the speak when they can't walk the same walk as the person they are speaking about. I used to use this in College sports all the time, piss em off by beating them, period. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -
I do find that comment strange SkydiverRick - it says you have close to 3000 jumps, and you think Roger was at fault in his incident? Just not understanding... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

I find that moving my pelvis forward thus angling my back into the relative wind behind me pushes me forward with a great rate, the opposite to backslide. Take a look at this. http://www.zct.co.uk/skydivemag/pages/articles/aug00/headup4.htm I really found that flying more with your pelvis rather than legs and arms frees those wings to be doing other things - thus allowing one to become a more proficent flyer. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Discussing "issues" with fellow jumpers
freakydiver replied to sunshine's topic in Safety and Training
Best thing to do is act more adult than him and tell him aloud you will continue the discussion in a reserved manner in private (this way everyone sees you attempting to deal with the hothead in a level headed fashion). -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -

"A good photographer does not realy on the motordrive." Actually - that depends highly on the subject that is being captured. Just my two cents from field shooting. -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

They just do not get it - show me a whuffo that understands its not really freefall, but free"fly"... Morons - oh well, just more room for me to maneuver my canopy with less whuffos in the air lol... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -

Mmmmmmm burning man! What a fukken blast, talk about a trip... Edited: I've heard its pretty lame nowadays though, not like the first few years... -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -
ROFL - okay okay, I'll stick to my shitty ol Sabre(1) (I guess I need to start specifiying 1 eh ) 135 square foot beast Hell, it still scares me a little up here at these altis in Denver, thats all I need - not scared alot!! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Ummm, "1) Exit separation is about horizontal separation, not elapsed time between groups - you must look, " Actually I completely disagree - separation is calculated based on upper winds and jump run direction with respect to those upper winds, and aircraft speed. I have seen many many arguments to show that a count is much more solid than looking. The whole 45 degree angle thing of looking is a complete myth - I'm sure Kallend and billvon would completely back these statements up. #2 you state is correct. #1 I think is wrong. Also, 4 seconds IMHO ain't shit for seperation in most larger turbine DZ aircraft... I'd be pissed as hell if I were you eight though and really drive into this noobiez skull the importance of seperation, especially since I've noticed the same things on alot of DZs out there, separation seems to be taken for granted more times than not. Be safe! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --

Wow that is funny - no offense meant - but serioulsy, I was given the name Beavis by my original mates back in Wisconsin. I pride myself on my intelligence, and seriously used to get so irritated when they'd make fun of me, and other people would pick up on it and think I had the intelligence level of the actual Beavis lol. Anyhow - after awhile, I chalked it up to skydiver love. It can come in all shapes and sizes, but more times than not, it comes in the form of talking shit, at large amounts no less. Just make sure you are doing things the right way when they count! Edited: I didn't let too many people know my nickname from Wisconsin when I finally moved out to Colorado either Good luck! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." -- -
Well shoot then Ron, I'm movin on to a 21cell crossbraced 60sqaure footer than. I'll show you swoop! -- (N.DG) "If all else fails – at least try and look under control." --
