What about the good things skyride has done?
speedy replied to artistcalledien's topic in The Bonfire
This sort of reminds me of the thread, "do the ends justify the means?". In this case the answer is NO. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -
USPA downsizing guidelines proposal
speedy replied to HydroGuy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I still say education and training will save far more lives than regulation in this case. It is not known that any of the low/hook turn, landing fatalities in the last years would have been prevented by such regulation. It is just assumed that they would. Even with regulation you're still going to get people jumping stuff way out of their experience level. Skydivers do not always follow the rules. Regulation just shifts the responsibilityfrom people looking after themselves and listening to the DZ operators. We are adults and you would think that staying alive is high on our priorities. Why do we need rules for the vast majority to save a minute minority, that should have more sense? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -
Well I have edited my post.

I mean he probaly regrets most of his posts by now. Even the ones that mention rl. Maybe if he wrote a few kids books and got it off his chest.

That is the object of the article, humor! It's not true. It's a complete fabrication. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Of course you do realise that it is a Weekly World News item There again, you probaly don't know what the Weekly World News is. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

I have also heard this one. Is there really any scientific basis behind it? Does it depend on the size of spit blob you can spit. And I am asking seriously here. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

The "45 degree rule" for exit separation DOES NOT WORK
speedy replied to kallend's topic in Safety and Training
It's not surprising that the 45 degree rule is still being used by people when it is taught to students at one of the biggest dropzones in the world. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl -

So in Britain they are prepared to shoot deaf people for not following orders as well. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
You are so right. The Brits lived with the IRA for years. Even when they were blowing up Manchester while I was working there, we never got so paranoid about them trying to blow us up. It was like , ho hum the Arndale center is closed today due to a bomb threat, I'll do my shopping there tomorrow. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
He did not have a bomb! Yes, it would have been better to assume he did not have one. The chances were so slim that he had one. If we keep killing the suspects at this rate, we will end up killing more than we save. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
Yes it does! They did it in the tube if you can remember that far back. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

This board does not get me spun up. But what is happening at airports does. And the brits want to extend all that crap to trains. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

here's a totally unrelated quote - "The only common factor in all your failed relationships, is you" Was that a personal attack, thinly veiled as an unrelated quote? Look, the cop may have done what was asked of him, but that does not make it right. Why the hell does everyone think that the situation was so threatening. The brits shoot people trying to catch trains. The Americans shoot people running away from planes. Who needs terrorists? Dave Fallschirmsport Marl
-
You are all still missing the point. The chances that the guy really had a bomb was practically Nil. Why are we shooting our own citizens just because they say something? The terrorists have won. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Ok, here you go .... This is the only way this thread is going to get the same number of posts as the christian one. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Today, many people are too ashamed to admit their love and faith in Allah, because of persecution. Many people go to the mosque and yet continue to live lives that are blasphemous to Allah's word. Anyway, in order to meet other genuine Muslims in this sport, I decided to post this. I am not ashamed to call Allah great. Mock me or him if you want, but I love Him and He has done everything for me. I am still no where the kind of loving, serving, selfless person I desire to be, but my faith in Allah has allowed Him to mold me and shape me into a more loving person who actually cares about people. I used to be a very depressed guy who was always lonely, yet very selfish and angry. Knowing Allah has been the best thing that has happened to me. I am not talking about just going to the mosque and saying a prayer every now and then. To me, knowing Allah means falling in love with an amazing Creator, desiring to know and please Him with all my heart; reaching out to people who are suffering physically, emotionally, and spiritually, being there as a friend. Allah desires to for us to know Him and I can tell you from experience, He is the most fulfilling thing I've ever had in my life. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

A man went into the pub and asked for a pint and a pork pie. He paid the barman, drunk the pint and put the pie on his head and walked out. The next day he came in and asked for a pie and a pint again. Again he paid the barman, drunk the pint and put the pie on his head and walked out. The next day he came in again and asked for a pie and a pint. The barman said, "Sorry, we've run out of pies.". So the man asked for a pint and a bag of crisps. He paid the barman, drunk the pint and put the bag of crisps on head and started to walk out. The barman then shouts to him, "Why do you do that?" The man says "Do what?" The barman says "Put those crisps on your head". The mans says, "Because you don't have any pies!" Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

After reading most of this thread it amazes me how people are willing to accept this tragedy. Airport security is totally screwed up. The terrorist have won and have even got us killing ourselves to save them the trouble. Here are some cases of airport security gone mad. You go through security for you flight to the U.S and notice in that clear Perspex box the is a brightly colored water pistol. A kids toy and recognisable as a toy. This has been confiscated. However, an hour or so into the flight I am given a metal knife and fork to eat my meal with. Airport security returning fro m the U.S. My wife was informed that she could not take her cigarette lighter onto the aircraft and it was removed from her bag by the security officer. The other two lighters he left in the bag. I watched people practically taking all their clothes off to go through security without even being asked to. Think back to 9/11. The terrorist could in theory have hijacked the plane without anything but their bare hands. Into the cockpit, hit the pilot until he gives up the controls, and then take over the plane. It has all gone too far. I would take the no security airline someone mentioned earlier any day. Dave Fallschirmsport Marl

Just like to say thanks to the Perris peeps for looking after me and my wife during our stay there. The place was almost empty during the week but Celeste made sure we at least got some good RW jumps going. We also tried the tunnel for the st time. That was a real blast. Everyone showed a real professional attitude and made us feel really welcome. Thanks again.
