Ok, I think there has been a mixup: To clearify, I'm talking about Hoody Sweat Shirts. Not head warms like in your attachment. Coco

So its winter now and climbing A’s in the night has become quite cold but manageable. I have a few nice hoodies that are really warm but decided not to wear any of them on a BASE jump because I thought if I had a problem on deployment the hood could possible get in the way of my peripheral vision or become problematic in some other way. In the last few days I have seen videos of jumpers in hoodies, but not only that, some doing aerials with them. For those of you who jump in hoodies regularly or have in the past, have you ever had a problem with them getting in the way in any circumstance? Coco

Blind, I’m a young in and definitely not an experienced BASE jumper but even I know that jumping anything but BASE specific gear is just plain unwise. BASE jumping is a calculated risk in its own, so why use gear that is not intended for it and make it that much more of a risk. Look, We have all been there! We wanna do something but just don’t have the money. I’m a broke ass college student so I know how you feel. But that doesn’t mean its ok to cut corners. You have to improvise and find ways to get around the problem but doing so safetly. I have a APEX DP with a Flik 222. My total cost was 2615.00. If you take away VTEC, articulated harness and all the little stuff I got like soft hats for my PC’s (you get two with a complete set) and extra back pad, you could have a full setup for about 2100 bucks!!! (Add a little more since you need a much large canopy) So how can you get around the money problem? Well, why not get a loan. I got a loan for my skydiving gear. I saved up while in AFF and only needed 2600 bucks for an almost brand new set of gear. Was like a 3 year loan, about 115 a month and I paid extra each month and had it paid off in less than a year. It was a little nice with the skydiving gear because it was smarter to pay interest than pay 30 bucks a jump in addition to jump ticket to rent gear. The interest on my loan was 300 total for the 3 years (well 30 rental * 10 jumps = 300 bucks. That sold me on the loan right there. It actually saved me money to pay interest) It doesn’t apply for BASE but a loan is still a great option! You could also try saving for the container (new or used) and get a loan for the canopy (get a new one, its worth it!). Canopy will cost more so pay for that over time. If you can’t save up the money, a loan is the best way to go.. It’s a low dollar amount, short-term loan that should be easy to handle and will boost your credit score when you pay it back. And don’t say you can’t get a loan either! I work for Wachovia and banks can find a way! There are tons of little things you can do to bring your interest rate down if you have bad credit history. Even if you get a high interest rate its not a 20K car loan that will take years to pay off. Interest will cost you 200-500 bucks. A little interest is a lot better than taking the risk of using what you are using right now. There are lots of different options so don’t settle for jumping gear that might get you killed. Back in the day BASE specific gear was not available. Today it is! You may say “its working ok so far” Well all I can say is “ Yea….so far……” Stay safe bro! Coco

Whats your experience level? Coco

Thanks for the info. Yea I'll definitely check out that website too. I would start reading now but its blocked under "criminal skills". Damn work firewalls.

Very nice! I enjoyed that! Nice in air collision

Yup!! Thanks guys! Coco

Would someone mind finding the FCC Antenna Registry URL for me? I'm at work and need to look something up really quick but I can't find it with the search. I have it saved in my favorites at home but that doesn't do me again good at the moment . Thanks and sorry to have to post for it. Coco

Irro, fantastic, I've been watching your website like a hawk waiting for the video to be ready! I do have a question though (hopefully its not a dumb one but what the hell! ) You said "Limited Edition", do you just mean supply or is this not the completed video? Sorry if it’s a dumb question but I've seen limited edition used in different manners. Like if you got a Honda Civic Limited Edition, not only are there a lower quantity of them made but they typically have different features too. So I just wanted to make sure before I ordered. Or did you just mean to say "Limited Quantity"? Thanks! Coco

Very nice bro!!! I enjoyed that!

Nope, but if your a Firefighter is does!!

Coo coo, No biggie. Would be interesting to see what the problem is though. Sending PM. Coco

Oh yea that’s right! Katzurki, check out the video I posted below. My dad used that method on his second jump. BUT, it was used improperly. The way he did it in the first jump was how I had showed him to do a HH FF. But on the second jump, one of the exit staff told him to use the “upside-down mushroom toss thing.” They however did not tell him that using that method you have to do an underhand toss, not an overhand toss as I showed my dad with the first jump. That method in the second method, “upside-down mushroom toss thing”, is used for Ultra low jumps so it didn’t really pose a problem at BD. If you did what my dad did on a low one, it could cause PC hesitation and be dangerous!! Did I explain that right Tom? CocoBASE - http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=2879 Katzurki, do you have a video of your HH FF jumps posted anywhere? Why not throw one up on skydiving movies? Coco He's posted this because he and I have had several discussions about the video of his jump. Coco, if you're reading this, it's the same upside-down mushroom toss thing that you and I talked about with your Dad's bridge day jump video.

Nice!!! Edited to add: Yea I guess there is a way to insure someone has guidance in any circumstance.
-
It’s a nice thought; “trying to prevent those of inadequate experience and lack of guidance from getting themselves killed” but what is to stop someone from simply lying. How many skydives do you have? Where do you skydive at? Can I contact your DZO? “I’ve got 300+. I jump all over, I’m in sales and always travel so I don’t really have a home DZ. No one really “knows” me well enough to provide a reference.” Do you have a mentor? “No but I am going to take a first jump course with Apex. No I haven’t called yet. I am planning on getting my gear first and then when I am able to sign up when my schedule permits it, I will.” Thoughts? Coco

Awwwwww son of a bitch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Wow that sux! Stay current and you won't have to worry about it. Funny I always told the AFF instructors at my DZ if I ever had to do a recurrency they better be able to Freefly, cause I'm going right to head down. But then again I have a D so it will never happen.

Hey Everyone, I’m in the need of some info on lock pick kits. A buddy provided me with a legit site to make a purchase but I’m not sure what to buy. Like; “Would an 11 or 12 basic tool kit do the trick for most locks? If so what’s the point to having a 50 tool kit.” He said he is not the best at the art so I was hoping to find some contacts with some skill that can give me a little guidance on what to buy so I can get started. If you don’t care to post about this topic, PM’s are greatly appreciated. Thanks! Coco

Sweet, looks great! Release him from your roof. Carebear BASE! Coco

I apologize, sorry if I offended people. I guess I should have chosen my words more wisely. BUT, I look at doing rope work in 109 gusting winds in the same boat as (a hypothetical) me having 14 BASE, 1 wingsuit skydive and going to the Swiss valley and doing WS BASE. If I burned in, I’d consider myself a “dumb ass” for doing something so careless and irresponsible. But I agree, I should have been more sensative to the deceased.
-
Hey I agree Jaap, No disrespect to the dead, but what a dumb ass!! Coco
-
109 mph gusts? That figure correct?? At what altitude? Coco

I've got more BASE and skydives than my dad. He has close to 200 not including his round jumps back in the day. He stopped for some reason and I got hom beack into it. But I introduced him to BASE. Coco
