  1. I've never done a BASE trip like Norway but I do have a "compact daypack" that I carry around my waist. I can keep a water bottle, snacks, wind meter, laser distance finder, packing clips and other shit in it. I’ve jumped it fully packed and it works great. If I were making a two-hour hike, I would take only what I needed and leave the rest in the LZ or in my car. 2. I agree Jaap! This is a good day! Whether Link is a good guy or not, I think it is positive that he has posted. I do think it is unfortunate that his reason for posting was because of the threatening of his kneecaps talk, but either way I’m glad he posted. I definitely think it is important to have a dialogue between jumpers and rangers. It’s just like in a relationship! Communication is the key to getting things done and making up after a fight. So lets stop fighting and get to the makeup sex! Figuratively speaking of course!!!!
  3. Hey Link! Thank you for your post! It’s nice to see a ranger adding to this discussion! As you can see from my posting name, I’m 21 years old and I am also very new to the BASE community. I started skydiving when I was 18 and started BASE jumping a little over a year ago. Most of the issues between BASE jumpers and NPS rangers started while I was in diapers and some before I was even born. From seeing your picture somewhere and recalling past postings about you I believe that you are somewhere in your lower 30’s or younger? Am I correct? In your post, which I quoted below, you said your personal beliefs about BASE-jumping were “pretty simple.” Well…you really didn’t give any personal opinions about how you felt other than the legal status has nothing to do with you. After reading your posting, I have this question for you: I would like to know your personal opinion on whether you think Backcountry Parachuting, not BASE, should be allowed within NPS lands. I say Backcountry Parachuting because BASE involves jumping from objects that are privately owned property. The BASE community does not desire to legalize jumping from buildings down the street. What we do desire is to have the same access to government owned lands that other citizens of this country are allowed. Being at the age you are, where you were not directly involved with many of the problems between Backcountry Parachutists and NPS rangers, I would like to know how you feel about us and the legal status to get an idea of the opinions of the younger generation of NPS rangers. And please, do elaborate on reasons you feel for or against it regardless to the fact that “the legal decision has nothing to do with you.” Thank you Link! David Coco
  4. Anyone else think this is a good way to get your name put on the "NPS Jumper Suspect List"? Coco Edit to add: But worth progress...

    Base helmets

Here is what I jump: Boeri Tactic - Snowboarding helmet $140 http://www.boeri.com/tactic.html Doesn't look the coolest but its comfortable and it will work great if i wack my head on a rock or something. It also has a great system for cooling along with ear pads to keep my ears warm on cold winter nights. Coco
  6. 65 degrees, winds 10 degrees off center, 4 MPH on the ground....... Chance of lighting storms that never came. Son of a bitch!!! Coco

    "Stunt Junkies"

Any more info on the new show? The cbs website doesn't really give much. Not here, but Iiro and Jeb will both star in "The Courier" that starts on 23rd on CBS. bsbd! Yuri.

I agree! The back flip is nice but the train doesn't really make it that big of a deal. The guy has probably done the back flip a ton of times so adding something likes a train doesn't make it harder. I wanna see a double back flip! I hope other stunts are better than this one! They picked a great host though! Definitely agree!
  10. Nice! Very nice! So when is this gonna be the next attraction at Busch Gardens? Coco
  11. What would be a good Ball Park figure for $ cost $ for a trip like this? I just got hired by a Fire Department so after I get out of the academy I wanna go over seas for some big wall jumping!! I'll finally have the funds to do so! Coco

  21. Its just a joke. Like when I did my gainer at bridge on my ninth jump. I was a little nervous but I did spend a shit load of time in a gym working on it so I was ready and able. Josh joked with me and was like "Fuck it dude, whats the worst that could happen." IDK maybe we have sick humor.
  22. Damn straight! That is exactly why I wear a belt! Coco
  23. In the words of my buddy josh. "Just jump! Fuck it, whats the worst that could happen." Coco
