  1. Can anyone tell me what happened on last weeks nip/tuck. I forgot to tape it. I was busy and forgot!!!! Help!!!! Episode Madison Berg. Thanks Coco
  2. Wow that sux. I've got it good though. My parents are fine with my skydiving (my dad jumps too), they are also ok with my BASE jumping (my dad has two at BD and might get into it) and my GF is ok with it too and actually wants to come watch some time. Rest of the family only knows about skydiving Coco
  3. Anyone seen that heineken beer commerical where the waiter drop a case of beer and then they go to a clip of a guy and his wife and he's like "All of a sudden i feel so cold, something is wrong" or something like that. I knew there was a reason I had a bad feeling in my gut. But on a serious note that does stink. Three people died, what a shame.
  4. Well, checking landing areas for saftey, wind conditions, understadning what PC to use for for what delays......yada yada yada, that kinda deal. Coco
  5. I have a few friends that have told me I am suicidal. It was not until I had them watch me pack and talked to them for a while and they final realized how much preparation and safety awareness actually goes into each jump. They thought I just grabbed my chute and threw myself off stuff. I think it’s pretty clear that the general public knows very little about BASE, so things like Nick’s talk on press releases about legal jumping are a good idea. Its just like anything that is not mainstream, people have no idea so they build their own ideas and perceptions from what they see and hear, especially when what they hear is primary about the negative (accidents and rescues).
  6. *Cough* Mel Brooks *Cough* Yea History of the World was an awesome movie! Coco Edit: Spelling
  7. WTF. How is that far fetched? He did it didn't he! Yea, most people aren't gonna make a base jump to thier car before work but seriously; I hate stupid people. I'd like to smack that writer and say "ITS JUST A COOL COMMERCIAL TO CATCH YOUR ATTENTION, YOU RETARD!" Coco
  8. Very nice! I'm impressed. I wish I was skydiving and BASE jumping back in high school and then I wouldn't have hated poetry so much. I could have been creative with this topic! Coco
  9. Thou shall not get hung up on guy wires and talk to the media about legalization and tattoo's. Edit: Spelling
  10. Right Right, good points! Yea, I’m not exactly sure but I believe the inside platform at where we measure winds speeds and direction for opening is at ~250 feet. This is info passed on from previous experienced jumpers who had tools that found the heights (one had a watch I know for a fact). I just received my wind meter the other day and it has an altitude (not perfect but close) function so I will confirm platforms and deployment heights. I’ll also see where on the A the lower guy wire is attached. Coco
  11. Awesome!!! Thank you very much Tom! Coco
  12. Thanks Tom!! I was actually gonna ask about that. Now I just need some reply's. Coco
  13. Well, I'm not really comfortable with that at the moment so lets say I'm doing a jump from 540 and/or 900 (no tracking) and openning at about 200-250 feet (typical where I make my measurment and judgement for the jump). At what wind speed would you begin to find the issue of a PC getting blown over your head. Coco
  14. That kid is the luckiest mother fucking on the planet!!! I wish that was my teacher and I was sleeping with her at 14. That would be sweeeet!!! "I'M HOTTTTT FOR TEACHER!!!!" Hell yea!! 3 years house arrest, interesting...
  15. I was dating a girl that was allergic to pineapple. We were at a wedding and there was a fruit display thing. I grabbed some strawberries and she was like if you eat that you can't kiss me all night. She was so allergic even being near the pineapple was to much of a risk. Coco
  16. I got a ? for ya Tom (or other). I remember on another thread a while back to you were talking about how you had a PC blow over your head from high winds. At what (tail) wind speed would you says this problem BEGINS to become an issue? Coco Edited to add: Also I'm sure delay and PC size makes a difference too correct?
  17. Wind down the wire is the 2nd most dangerous way to jump a tower (ruling out headwind jumps, which ought to be "no go" from a safety standpoint). Zero wind is the only condition that is more dangerous. If you are willing to jump in zero wind, you ought to be willing to take wind down the wire. If you're not willing to jump in zero wind, because you want the wind to help make things safer for you, then you probably shouldn't jump in wind down the wire, either. Right that is exactly what I have learned. I will not jump in zero wind, and until I have a lot more experience I am not willing to jump with wind down the lines either. The farthest I have gone is about 30-35 off center. I am also doing phone ground crew jumps at the moment too so having near perfect conditions makes me feel better also. Coco Edited to add: I've have made like 3 jumps in the last two weeks or so and have climb at about 8 times. I'd rather climb down than jump in bad conditions and hope for the best. Turkey Jumps

Thats true I forgot about the Turkey boogie! Lucky bastards, I wish I could go out to moab. Coco
  19. I could just without my rig too but its not to smart. j/k I've only got 11 jumps so I'm playing it safe. From what I have learned winds down the wire is not to smart.....

    Turkey Jumps

Anybody get a Turkey Day jump? I almost did but I missed the window and the winds went down the wires. Oh well.... Hope everyone got nice and full yesterday! Coco

    BASE Licensing

    Tell him you have to get 4 license's! B - Mayor - What ever city you are in. A - FCC S - Big Ugly Troll's E - NPS
  22. Wow bro! That really sucked! Glad your ok! Your totally right though, “never give up.” I would like to bring up one thing about the jump. And by saying this I mean no disrespect and am not trying to bash on you in any way especially with the fact that I am a Newbie in BASE; but may I ask (to bring the debate back up) why did you go for toggles? Would this not have been one of the key times where risers would have been more benificial? Despite that, obviously you were very close to the wall and an object strike may still not have been avoided whether using risers or toggles. You also did say this was your first slider down in some time so did you have the muscle memory of going to toggles due to where you normal jump. Once again, I’m not trying to be “Mr. Know it all”, just curious to see what you and other think. Coco
  23. Cool thanks! Yea I'm gonna go with the carry away. Looks like a very smart way to go! I Pm'ed nicknitro, his website says he make's them, I'll email dexter too. Thanks Bro! Coco

    BASE Licensing

Really? You get it through the FCC???? I though you got it though the NPS? Thats were I was gonna try to get mine from! What a dumb ass! L8er Coco
  25. Right. And in cold weather, doesn't leave you tying finicky knots at the exit point. The "carry-along" style is probably better if you can get your hands on one or build one yourself. I've done maybe a couple dozen static line jumps using the setup in the picture. Never used a carry-along. I would not advise attaching a carabiner to the bridle for any reason. Heavy stuff near the PC, or on the bridle at all, is bad juju. Yea thats a good point. Having the carabiner on the bridle would hinder its ability to do its job if the break cord prematurly broke. I didn't think of that! Edit to add: Well I know I can't make one but anyone know if BASE manufacturers sell them?
