No shame bro! BASE isn't for everyone. Get another couple hundred skydives and if it calls to you again, give it another go. Better to climb back down than do something your not comfortable with. Coco
-
Yea that would totally suck! But I have worn a seat belt from day 1! Coco
-
For those of you who do not wear a seat belt, care to explain why not? "U too cool"? Coco
-
Yea he is definitally not a high performance driver.
-
Oh! I was talking hypothetically...
-
No but I don't know who I was talking about if I said that. This guy would never BASE but would make a skydive. Oh yea, same here. The same buddy that I was driving with today was going 90 weaving in and out of cars without a seat belt on. I think he is taking more of a risk than when I jump one of my local A's. There are more chances for unknowns and unpredictable changes for him than for a BASE jump. A car could change lanes, deer in the road, and other thing that could change and he not being able to react fast enough going 90. At least on a BASE jump I think I can better prepare myself for malfunction and off heading opening. But I thank god I haven’t had the worst malfunction. A Nut Under. Ouch!! I don't think I will ever be able to just shrug. Especially one I get into a Fire Department and I see the accidents first hand. Coco

So I was hanging out with one of my non-jumper buddies earlier today and I noticed that he wasn’t wearing a seat belt. I asked him why he doesn’t and he just shrugged. Personally I think not wearing a seat belt is insane! I’d be more nervous about not wearing a seat belt than making a BASE jump. There are so many bad drivers out there and I also hear a lot of stories from my dad who is a Paramedic about all the terrible injuries from minor accident because someone wasn’t wear a seat belt. So I’m curious, do you wear a seat belt? Coco

I did use to play with fire a lot but I never wanted to burn things down. I was the kid at the camp fire making the shit huge! Wait a minute, I still do that. I made a huge "safe" freakin fire with a buddy at Bridge day. Hope they don't ask, Are you a pyro? Coco

Hey Everyone, I passed the Panel Interview for a local Fire Department and I have my lie detector test this week. I’m looking for some input on what to expect and what types of questions they ask. I’m not too worried about passing but its nice to have a heads up. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks! Coco

I made 9 A's with 7200 feet climbed and jumped. 3 were from 600 and the rest were from 900. Coco

Good or Bad? They might go well with your helmet selection Jaap. I think the combo would work well! Coco

Neither my jump buddy or myself were on the DVD but I did enjoy the video. I guess the only reason I don’t care is because my buddy videoed my two jumps (including my first aerial) from the platform. My dad had the same video as myself but was a first timer so he was on the DVD. I also greatly enjoyed the interview with NickD and the El Cap stories. “We thought we could freefall low enough and be fine………WE WERE WRONG! ” I do agree with avenfoto though, “where is the jon drgan/bill bird ash jump? I would think that would have made the cut...” Coco

Thanks Dave! My rents order stuff from LL bean all the time. I don't know why I didn't look at what they had. They also have boots too! Coco

I love the train holds on the video! That is sooo funny! Coco
-
WELL FINE THEN! I WON'T DO IT! I don't wanna be like butters and copy what other people have done already. Coco
-
Right! And I know for a fact I can go 200+ feet above it but I was just curious the minimum height above it to clear it safely. Coco
-
How about wearing it backwards like Criss-Cross did back in the day and have the hood up? I could even wear my rig on the front!!! Coco
-
Well every bit helps, thanks for the input! Coco
-
Yea I jump from the platform every time. I was just curious as to how far up I'd need to go in order to clear it. I can probably add another 200 feet to the jump by climbing past it. In the works of determine how high I can climb and stay out of the heat. At the moment it looks like the antenna is on the very top and nothing is below it so I might be able to go 250 more feet up. I can clear it very easily from that high but I was just curious. Coco

FYI, I Made an addition to my first post. Its on the bottom. Coco
-
If you have an external platform of 6 feet (give or take 2 inches), how far above it would you need to climb to jump and clear it? Coco
-
No see politicians are BS artists, that was no BS. That was from my heart! *single tear drops* Coco

So I logged my 16th jump last night. It was a great jump! Another phone ground crew 900 A. I had a great freefall, 5 seconds, and with an on heading opening. I even started working on some Sub terminal tracking. After I landed, I kinda just stood there for a few minutes. I looked up at the tower I had just jumped and felt on overwhelming feeling of joy. And I had a thought! That thought was: I want to say Thank You! Thank you to all those who have made BASE what it is today. Thank you to all our elders who have progressed this sport from its beginnings using gear that is less than desirable in today standards for making a BASE jump. Thank you to all the experienced jumpers for continuing to keep the sport alive and growing. Thank you to all the manufacturers for the years of hard work in designing BASE specific gear that makes jumping as safe as it can possibly be. Thanks to all the newbie’s, like myself, who are helping to expand the sport even further. And thank you to all the mentors! Without your confidence and guidance, many of us would be unable to safely entire the wonderful world of BASE. BASE has given me a feeling of happiness and completeness that I have never gained through any other source. Not only through the jumps but through the bonds we form though jumping together. Thank you all for making it possible! Coco Edited to add: And I unfortunately forgot to mention: To our fallen brothers and sisters! It’s sad that you're no longer joining us at the exit point, but thank you for having the courage and the drive to live your life to the fullest! You may be gone but never forgotten.
