We hit controlled airspace at 13k, over in Franz Josef Glacier. We were allowed to do a 15 and 18k load the day after the EQ. Have had shit weather since couple of loads to 12k but no worries there. I did my first ever jump on that course, I KNEW I would love it, there was no doubt in my mind, I was a commercial skydiver within one year of my first jump, and my skydiving career has gone really well. I suggest the diploma course for the optimist while i do not recommend it for the pessemist. You get out of the course (much like life in general) what you put into it. If one is sure that skydiving is what they want to do, then there is no faster way to get into the industry. a half assed pessemist is only wsting their time however. The term hook turn scares me. An induced speed approach should be a progressive yet controlled turn that can be aborted. the term hook turn implies (to me) a snappy turn that is fully commited. A tandem is relatively lightly loaded with a short recovery arc so bugger all margin for error. The way you desribe your actions concerns me. I suggested you do straight approaches until you can consistantly stand them up, then start with 45 dgree turns etc etc, this takes hundreds, not tens of jumps. Be Careful! I would try realxstream it is mostly automated. It produces, renders and burns you dvd's and has royalty free music with it. It also uploads the video to the web on its own host, this comes with a wigit that you can insert on your own website so your customers all send thier friends to your website rather than youtube. It is designed specifically for skydiving. There are different settings for handicam and outside camera, and the set up of each video takes less than a couple of minutes. You can queue up multipule videos so you can edit a whole load in the time it takes to edit one video on another program. RXT is new and only just on the market. Are you using your own gear? Usually the decision of what sized canopy is determied by the DZO, and stepping down as a new TI from 365 to 300 I would not recommended. As for the swooping thing, that is something that takes time and is something that should be well understood before it is performed. If your profile is correct and you have only just over 500 jumps and have TM rating, then you re likely looking for a fast progression which is where accidents occur so I plead caution. Please be careful, talk to your riggers and local experineced insructors and cross check all information you are given (including wht I am telling you here). To answer your questions, a 300 is more efficient for windier conditions with light instructors and passengers. Inducing speed by making a 90 degree carved turn for landing does increase flare but makes stand up landings more techincal. Just stick to your 365's make nice basic straight in approaches and when you can stand those up consistantly then you will already have a deeper understanding through experience about this stuff. I put 800 on a maveric 200 that was second hand.... a further 800 on a heatwave that was also second hand about 700 on a crossfire that had 1000 jumps on it already A good zp canopy that is looked after should be able to do at least 2000 jumos if looked after and relined accordingly. NZ aerospoerts have an avanced tequnique that produces the cleanest and most professional looking logo canopies that I have seen. Then there was either something wrong with the canopies construction or the way it was packed. If you had extremely hard openings and failed to contact the manufacturer and simply changed/downgraded to a neos... then your loss. I know plenty of peope tht us a JVX for everyday jumping, beautiful openings with camera gear etc. etc. Parachutes are made by hand and packed by hand. I have heard the same about Neos' as well, in fact a workmate of mine had to take time off from constistantly hard Neos openings, while other neos open great... Hard openings can be caused by different factors but if a JVX is opening hard consistantly, then it should be sent beck to the manufacturer for analysis. Did you contact aerosports about it?
