Even high dollah bermuda, centpede, or zoysia requires soil preperation. If its got nowhere to grow, it'll die. and a yard full of dead sod is an expensive mistake. half of growing a wonderful yard is making sure the yard has the soil to grow in. First decide, for your climate and conditions (sun, water, etc) which grass would be best. If you really want to go all out have the soil tested for ph and nutrients (although Ive never done anything like that) But if nothing grows there now you may need to add fertilizer and/or orther nutrients then you need to get the ground into a form that will germinate seed, hold moisture, and allow the roots to take hold. I.E. tilling. Spred the seed as directed. Spread straw liberally over the freshly seeded area (this helps to hold moisture and prevent runoff in light right and watering. Above was what I had to do to get grass to grow at my last home. it was a very steep slope (fall of about 3' for every 5' of horizontal) on lots of clay and small rocks. I also brought in two truckloads of soil (about 30 tons) to help with the poor soil conditions I had. thats just my .02 Spence and Shrek my chime in here too, they do that lawn crap for a living.

well the pre-boogie party would be Wed night correct? Then thursday night is the pre-party scrimmage, whick last year crippled a couple revelers. Friday night is all out pre-party madness, with Saturday becoming the epic adventure that puts the Festival into this boogie!

Ive got around 700 jumps on my Mirage. I have the freefly pillow with the tuck tab. When I first started jumping it I was stuffing a 170 in to a container made for a 150. the only time I ever had any issues was when I was wearing gloves for the first time, and being able to feel everything was just a bit different. At pull time I just rotate the handle as I am depolying. As for what you should do: Talk to your instructors and fellow jumpers. Decide on the option that you believe will be safe and reliable. I choose the pillow because it was less vulnerable to snag and was more secure. The hacky w/ tuck tab was not an option at the time I ordered mine. I have since gotton used to it and wont change when I order my next rig. I know the subject has been discussed a couple times but I'd like to revisit b/c Im in the market for some new swoopy shoes. My current pair are New Balance 812 (I think), a mid-grade running shoe. Lots of cushion, good arch support and easily accommodates my ankle brace. The bad thing is the soles have plenty of traction and so dont slide very well at all. Im looking for a pair with a good cushion for those ones I gotta run out or get a heel on some hard ground, but with less aggressive tread. So, what do you wear, and why? Talk to your instructors about gear selection for your skill level! Get to know your fellow jumpers and ask their opinions on rigger selection. Find a rigger who you can trust and communicate. The reason I say this: Instructors are great sources of information and advice on how to keep you safe and using gear for your skill level. Fellow jumpers all have preferences on who packs their reserve/maintains their gear. Its their lives in that riggers hands, so, they will trust those people. A rigger should be able to talk to you about fit, functionality, future work, and safety. The key to all is safety. Skydiving is a tight community. Ive done a bit of bodywork over the years and let me tell you, its an artform. I aint no artist. I spent months prepping a car to be sprayed. body fillers, primers, sanding sanding and more sanding. to what I thought was a straight car. But, after it was painted, my skill level showed through. Now if you add in the welding in poritons of panel and rust. WOW you have your hands full. My experienced is that MIG welding is for attaching and strength, where brazing is used to fill and bond new with old. (neither of which I do well). And to add with what dave said, you could get a brand new fender, bonnet, etc and it will need sanding, priming before the paint. To sum up what i've learned: You get what you pay for. Good luck!
