I wish more people did that! I'm sick of the stories of people paying for coach jumps and paying the instructor's slot, etc. I have been in the plane and the total number of jumps between the 4 of us has been 30,000 or more (including my measily 60). As much as I want to skydive more, or do something else fun, I will always help when needed even if that means scratching myself off a load. People have done it for me, I will do it in return..! I'm glad to see this mind set growing.I think it's time to shun those charging newbies for coaching jumps and show USPA that they got it all wrong. . I always jump with lower number jumpers. Im guilty of not as much as I used too, for a variety of reasons. I am not a coach, nor do i claim to be, but when I started skydiving and ultimately freeflying. Plenty of more advanced jumpers jumped with me, and I try to do the same. Im always wearing a camera, so they get video too. I gladly show them and discuss if they like, hell we can even get a more advanced flier to look at it. with a lot of up-and-coming students at our DZ i should be even more willing to help those new to the sport. I think when he said "stows down" he meant toward the backpad as opposed to toward the BOC, resulting in a 90 degree difference in orientation inside the container. ooooohhhh... I didnt think there was a mfg that supported that method. Talk about nervous, That I wouLd NEVER do. Not to mention how the thick part of the bridle where it passes through the bag would affect the closing loop if it was anchored in the container and not on a flap. somebody know if a mfg supports this method? straight in comparison to what? The point at which the bridle passes through the bag will be the first point to leave the container. The orientation of the bag after that point is depenent upon body position, line stows, bag fit in the container, etc. Straight being a realtive term, what do you want it straight towards? I prefer my bag to go straight up and away! placing the bag straight in or rotating, either method will result in the same orientation in the container before closing. So how would either method affect the depoyment sequence? I love my '7' cell! I've jumped a few tri's over my short career and never really liked em. I started jumping old Sabres early on and anytime I jumped a tri, I just didnt like the performance. Although the openings were always nice compared to a sabre. but pretty much everything had a better opening than a large Sabre I. people laugh sometimes at me for this, but ya know what... when theres one not to be found who do they come see? I fold it twice then roll it up and put a small rubber band around it. I keep it in the pocket of whatever suit, shorts, etc Im jumping. that way I also have a spare rubber band if i need one.

What if only the pilot was left in the plane with that door wide open and the studen fell out or decided to exit of their own valition? its not like the pilot could drop the controls and drag the student back in. its a responsibility thing. the instructor has a duty to ensure that student gets to the ground safely either by skydive or plane ride. Keeping in mind all situations are different, would you recommend to someone a 2nd tandem if they wanted to go through AFF, but were still unsure if they would be able to make that commitment? Or suggest the AFF? I hold the opinion that if you want to make skydiving your hobby, life, etc... AFF is the way to go. If youre not sure and are wanting to get your feet wet, then a tandem or tantem progression is the way to go. but then again Im partial b/c I went through AFF, ive never done a tandem, and I am not an instructor. so take it all with a grain of salt. If the container and main are properly matched for size, then just placing the bag in the container with the stows toward the bottom is not as easy as it sounds. Also, the "rotating" portion of the pack cycle should not be an aggressive step. if you have properly stowed the lines on the bag, have neatly routed the risers and remaining line, how would it mess up the stows? Trying to stuff a 170 main into a container designed for that size without the rotation step would be more likely to shift or move your stows. IMHO. its a round, made of a durable material abut the size of a tangerine. Often its a competition on our plane. there are a couple who always are at the top of their game. ONE of which is a woman. Dammit her ass stinks. Unless youre going for tandem progression, stick with AFF, and then (not knowing your situation) I would still suggest AFF. Ive got near 800 skydives and not 1 of them is a tandem. Hydroseeding or hydromulch is VERY expensive, but youre damn near 100% guarenteed to have grass growing after the first rain or watering. Im talking you get a rain in the morning and 24 hours later you have green grass showing. its really quick. The kicker is, you got to have ground that it will take hold. How the hell did you mow it? Blues, Dave I got creative with how I sat on my mower. Yup a riding mower. I also over time added some terraces (im calling em that in the loosest sense) also, I never measured it, I just remember about how far the bottom terrace was from the back of the house and I wasnt even eye level with the foundation.
