If you want to jump inflateables, I suggest you bring inflatables, then you'll need to have an experienced jumpmaster for that dive. It just a safety thing. Also, Labor laws are often governed fedrally. While, states set many laws discriminatinon, EEO, and all that jazz are federal. I'll bet that even a mention from a Lawyer that something like that came out of an employee of their company will send them to their Attys so fast you wont know what happened. That kind of thing is BAD press for a company of ANY size, and can cripple the financial standing of a smaller company. Potential judgments against a company can seriously affect its borrowing power, and credit line. I see what you're saying. I dont see the added value of that material my self. ive worn many different rigs, of varying sizes and configurations. I have never "felt" the hip rings. In fact, a rig w/ hip rings, for me, is less likely to have a "feel than wone without rings at all. IMHO that additiona piece covering the hip ring would be a step closer to a std. harness w/ no hip rings. Agreed. The skill of slow flight is required for you A, because it may save your life one day. Slow flight, braked turns, etc are maneuvers used to prevent collisions, turn away from obsticals, etc. If your instructors are telling you that 'if' you have a braked approach youre going to have a bad landing, I would tend to disagree. I have landed my Velo at half brakes and had a perfect stand up landing. Keep in mind: These skills should be practiced at a safe altitude away from other canopies before attempting them on the ground. Additionally, seeking canopy training and working with a qualified canopy coach (could be someone at your DZ) will help you fulfill your requirments and make you a safe and skilled canopy pilot. There is quite a bit of talk about this: people not using AADs in "swoop only' rigs, advanced swoopers going to "speed" configuration, and some not activating their AAD for swoop only days... My question is at what point during your swoop progression did you consider what effect your dive has on your AAD? What did you do about it? I dont believe that the speeds I am reaching with my 270 turn is going to be close enough to fire my cypres, but as my protrack flatlines on almost every dive now. Im intrested to learn what others have done, when they did it, and why. Looks to me like the ONLY difference is the pad. One has on behind the hip ring and the othere does not. I've been through a few risk management classes. Making any reference to a former employee's history other than "they worked here from x to y" opens the company for liable proceedings. ESPECIALLY IF they are UNDOCUMENTED. For a former employer to make a statement that prevented you from being empolyed again, AND have no background opens them up for you to OWN that company. Soooo many stories... so little time. since I have implemented a restriction on my partying, I havent had a tried-and true hangover but once this year. I may wake up the next day tired and dehydrated, but not the headache, sickness, and nausea. One of my favorites: My first trip to Oz: the night before I was supposed to head home I was supposed to meet some girls for lunch. Mind you this is St Patricks day. Well, two bottles of wine into lunch, they're calling work to take the rest of the day off. This is 1:20 PM. Bar after bar after bar after bar later theres only a couple of us left in some dance club. I was told I was put in a taxi at 3am. After a 30 min ride which I dont remember I crawled into the house and passed out on the bed. My mom came in to get me up for my flight at 5am. I hadnt packed a thing and was still wearing the clothes from earlier. It took her and her husband to get me to the ticket counter. I could barely speak. the agent asked what was wrong and my mum's husband said oh, a few of the ladies too 'im out on a crawl last night..." She just laughs and gives me my ticket. the hangover set in just as we began to decend into Syndey 3 hours later. Immigration, Customs, and another takeoff for that 12 hour flight home. OMFG, it was brutal. Luckily the attendant, on Quantas, was most understanding and kept me in water, juice, and small snacks that were less likely to come back up.
