  1. m_v, As you see there are a lot of folk of the opinon that "since its old, its junk". Alas, I have to agree from the stand-point that you probably won't get $2500 for the complete rig. If the gear is still airworthy, it would get someone to the ground safe, but it wouldn't be "cool"... the cool factor is what sells used gear more then anything else these days. You can part it out here on the classifieds at DZ.com; make sure you get the $$ before you ship. PZone posted some suggested $$ for what the main, reserve & container might go for. Those #s look about right to me. If you really aren't worried about getting a lot of money for the rig, you could "low ball" the numbers a bit just to off the gear. Good luck.
  2. [sarcasm]Wow, rigs circa 90s are "obsolete"... [/sarcasm] Actually seeing the condition of the gear withstanding, it doesn't sound like it would be a bad buy for someone that's interested in RW and doesn't have a lot of money to spend or for someone that wants an inexpensive second or third rig.
  3. Hooters Hooters Yum Yum Yum! Hooters Hooters Fun Fun Fun!!
  4. Back in the "good ol' days" it used to be a lot more common then it is these days around the DZ.
  5. Used to be, if you plotted the number of fatalities vs. the number of jumps the deceased had when they went in for a given year, you'd get a "spike" of fatalities around 40 (i.e. the fatal forties) and another around 800 jumps (give or take a few hundred). AADs and high performance canopies has changed all that though.
  6. If its a rig with a skyhook you want, IMO, I'd go with the Vector. Why? I'm a bit "down" on Sunpath right now for how badly they've handled the whole "RSL issue". But that's just me, take it or leave it. IMO also, if its a skyhook you want, point in favor of going with the Vector... two words... Bill Booth.
  7. No Kallend. No matter how much you say something, it doesn't make it true. I do not think its a matter of "manliness". . I suppose you didn't write: "Yes, I am paying attention to the thread and for what its worth, my 2 cents, its clear to me you and others like you would like to have the night jump requirement removed from the D-License because you're "not up to it". There, I said it." and "I think the night jump requirement should STAY on the D-License because it demonstraits ... courage " Someone must have been posting under your name " Yes, I said that. Yes, I meant it. But how does that equate to "manliness". I know plenty of women with legit D-Licenses... and they're NOT manly. Anyway, you want to be right. Fine. You're right. *wanders off to buy airto and bozo a beer* Where's that DZ!!!!!????
  8. airt... can I join y'all on that path? I'll buy beer!
  9. Actually, I wondered who here has the most posts on DZ.com? The ones that have the bigger number of posts vs. actual jumps seem to post the most etertaining stuff.
  10. No Kallend. No matter how much you say something, it doesn't make it true. I do not think its a matter of "manliness". For the last time. I think the night jump requirement should STAY on the D-License because it demonstraits skill, knowlege, courage and with that comes experience, wisdom and, hopefully, the ability to exercise good judgement; to take previous experience and knowlege and apply it to new situations or circumstance and solve problems with confidence. If you want to equate that to manliness in some manner, I think you're wrong, but fine, just please stop posting to the board that you think I think its all about manliness. Anyway, the USPA will keep the night jump requirement as part of the D-License or some day delete it... whatever.
  11. No, I don't think we ever got a hold of the latest one that's on the street. That would be the 06 Video, right? Can someone send a copy to Happy Girl (on Industrial Haze)?
  12. You could pay some attention to the thread Yes, I am paying attention to the thread and for what its worth, my 2 cents, its clear to me you and others like you would like to have the night jump requirement removed from the D-License because you're "not up to it". There, I said it. If you or anyone else isn't up for night jumps, that's fine, but you don't get a D-License and you don't get to be a T.I. or a Pro Rating because you haven't demonstrated the breadth of skill, knowledge and courage... again, refer to what Bill and Nick have said up thread, they said it better then me. That's just the way it is. I know you don't like it, but TOUGH. Life isn't fair, folks should quit going around like their "special" or "entitled" and thinking things should be changed to suit them just because they think they shouldn't have to do this or that or this or that shouldn't apply to them. If its put to a vote amongst the USPA membership, I'll vote for the night jump requirement being retained... for all the good reasons Bill and Nick have stated better then I. If the USPA BOD does away with it without input from the membership, I'll be disappointed and won't be voting for those that voted for it.
  13. No, no... no. Its going to be catapult launched wing-suit flights with ballisticly fired canopies so you can pull at like 50ft, just before impact.
  14. So, Kallend, did you actually do night jumps to get your "D"?
  15. Tonto... I'm sure its around here somewhere, but can you point us towards where the requirements for SA Licenses are at? I'm guessing they're not the same as USPA Licenses...
  16. You continue to confuse a license with some kind of award of merit or manliness. It isn't. No. I do not. Bill said it better / beat me to it. Remove the Night Jump requriement, fine, but then don't call it a D-License. Call it something else please though as to not confuse folks that hold it with those of us that do.
  17. I've been closer, but that's pretty friggin' close. So, what do YOU think you did wrong that you got yourself into that corner? Here's a "hint" from your orig post.
  18. Pops, All you say is true, but I don't know where you're coming up with the "requirement for everyone" speak. Night jumps are NOT a requirement for everyone. Night jumps are only a requirement if you want a D-License. If you don't want to complete all the points necessary to get a D-License, you don't get one. I realize you may not be saying this, but you're not entitled to a D-License and if then you can't do things like be in instructor or get a Pro-Rating because you don't hold a D-License, that's just tough IMO.
  19. Why the hell not? It proves that not only do you have the courage to do it, it also proves you have the skills, disipline and intelligence to deal with the added complexities and yes, risks, to jump at night. Its not a requirement for everyone. Its only a requirement if you want a D-License. You can skydive your butt off forever in this sport without a D-License. You are not entitled to a D-License. If you don't want to jump at night, you don't get a D-License. Period. It took me a long time to get my 2 night jumps in before I got my D-License. Afterwards, I felt pretty damn good about myself for having done them. I've got about 20-some night jumps now and feel good about myself for having done them and feel like I've accomplished something more in the sport and for myself for having done them. I also feel that the folks with D-License #'s a lot lower then mine that had to do no-shit water jumps & night jumps to get their "D" have accomplished something slightly more and demonstraighted more gutts then I and I give them an amount of more respect for it. Call it pride, call it what ever, flame away, but I don't think the USPA should remove the Night Jump requirement for getting a D-License. If they do, it should be called a "D minus" License. ... and for the folks out there that currently hold a D-License and had to do a water jump back when to get it... call your's a "D plus" License... cause y'all got bigger stones then a lot of the folk in the sport today.
  20. Hmmm... I can think of better ways to do the altimeter ad, but with the same "theme" As for the Sentinal ad... from what I know about Sentinals... I'm not sure even hot divas could have sold those things to male skydivers back then. Anyway, given that Skydiving is an "adult" activity in more ways then one, I'm always somewhat surprised when those within the sport get "bent out of shape" over ris'quea (sp?) ads... old or more recent. Certainly there's more males in the sport then females... a point that's kind-of a bummer , but that's a different topic... but but its not like there are so few females in the sport that it would be worth the while of some mfgr's to run ads with big beefy horse hun... err... big beefy guys sporting their product to try to sell the ladies... equal time for the ladies and all. *shrugs* Anyway, call me sexist, but I do like those "Some guy in Texas (?) sells Rigs and Guns" ads.
