  1. A couple of jumpers tried (and thankfully we all failed) to hit my windshield earlier this year as I departed Philadelphia. Since the DZ management has blown me off for further investigation I guess it's just a matter of time. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  2. Heard while entering ramp at DEN. United flight: "Hey who's in charge out here!?" Ramp control: "Say again?" United flight: "Yah, we just had a guppy cut us off out here. I thought you said we were to taxi out first." Another United flight: "Why don't you chill out." United flight: "What? Oh must be one of them new age pilots." Other United flight: "Why don't you retire already. You're in my seat." At which point my CA and I were laughing so hard we about had to stop taxiing because we couldn't see through the tears. Another one. During a complete shut down of ORD. Controller: "All aircraft stand by. All departures are shut down. We're trying to work on reroutes and we'll get it done faster if we don't have any calls." 30 seconds later. Unidentified flight: "Hey, when are the Gipper (GIJ) departures gonna go?" Controller: "You guys are amazing. I have a 5 year old and 7 year old that listen better than you!" Unidentified flight: "Somebody needs a nap." Controller: "Oh no. I just got here. You all have me for the next 2 hours!" Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  3. Bump.... a piece of history... God bless all victims of 9/11.
  4. Thank you for posting Steve. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  5. No real name in profile. No phone number to contact. Me thinks you may not get much resopnse.
  6. Lordie lordie. Sounds like it was fucked up from the get go. Folks, getting on the wrong plane ain't anything new. You get to the gate that has your departure city on it. You are let through by the gate agent. You get on, fire up and then get the paperwork with a different aircraft number on it. I've done it. Others have done it. What you do next makes the difference. Accept the situation and don't rush. Just get it done as best you can after that. If you're late you're late. Oh well. We'll see if they felt rushed when we read the CVR. 7. Not sure where you got that weight. It isn't the max structural of the CRJ-100. Visibility is fine in the CRJ. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  8. Not this type of jet and not at that weight. NTSB says they reached over 130 knots when they went off the end. That's really almost flying speed depending on the weight. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  9. Not much light to shed. But I would say this didn't not have much to do with it being a CRJ. This type of accident has happened before. All other details are yet to be gathered and interpreted before conclusions are made. I have personally flown out of this airport too on the CRJ. The ends of the two runways are very close. However, signage should have been proper to show which runway they were entering. This too will have to be looked at. This hits in the gut pretty hard. Airplane!

It's ok stewardess... I speak jive.
  11. A hook turn defines one type of turn into a ground. It usually means someone was trying to swoop. A low turn means someone turned low trying to get back into the wind and again did not have time to recover. Neither of those quick descriptions covers what I am hearing about his landing. It may be that it was target fixation and we're not talking target on the ground but rather looking at his student making sure of where they were. We don't know. What I do know is that hook turn does not describe what Keith did so far so I was correcting Clay. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

    Airplane!

"They bought their tickets. They knew what they were getting into. I say... LET 'EM CRASH!"
  13. It was not a hook turn or a low turn. It was described as a flat turn with no flare at the end. It is unknown why he didn't flare. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  14. hmmm where did my pic go? Take your daughter to work day? .... yah, I know it's a refueling crew. Full fledged checked out crew. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  15. Hey guys I'm at the hospital now and using T's computer. He's totally off of the ventilator and I believe they have also cut his sedation meds. This is way good news! He's got a long road but he's getting out of the woods. Keep him in your thoughts and prayers please. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  16. On sunday evening the 20th Keith Nugent (not sure if he posts here but I believe he's got a log in) was seriously injured in a landing accident. It is not known what caused his accident. His injuries are pretty bad but he is stable at a Chicago area hospital. Taneva asked me to post to keep people updated that know Keith. Not sure if I'll post the extent of his injuries until I talk to Taneva again. I hope to go see him in the next couple of days. They are not letting anyone see him that is not immediate family right now. Keith is the driving force behind Team Funnel activities at SDC now. He has put his heart into fulfilling the Team Funnel creed to jump and educate the lowtimers. Keith is a great friend with a huge heart. He was my Best Man at my wedding. Please keep him in your prayers. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  17. My favorite as it applies to some jumpers who refuse to listen. http://images.despair.com/products/demotivators/mistakes.jpg Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125

  21. YUP! That's right! Wendy gave birth to our son Mitchell on 7-14-06 at 1:59 am. He was 6 lbs 11 ounces and 20.25 inches. I can't even put into words how I feel holding my baby boy but it is absolutely amazing!! He has already started looking right into me which I didn't expect for awhile. It's like he's memorizing my face like I have been memorizing his. Oh, and he really is a mini-me as we put up my baby picture right next to his and it was darn near identical. His sisters are fighting over who gets to hold him next but they don't fight over who gets to change him next. Curious. He's a typical baby needing feeding every couple to three hours and I love him to pieces! ...and yes, his room is decorated with airplanes everwhere! He's doomed. Going to be a pilot at some point I imagine. Well, take care all! Be safe. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
  22. Wow, you're right. BTW... Nice capitalization and punctuation use.
  23. A bit off topic but anytime someone says "a real pilot job" my skin crawls. If you can die doing it then it's a real pilot job. And that's what we're talking about. The reality of this work. It can kill you. So what are you worth? I also find it funny that people would quit the sport (not jump) because jump tickets went from 20 to 23 bucks a jump. They f'n pay 4 bucks a Starbucks drink but can't fork over 3 dollars more to do a jump? That really caused them to quit the sport? If they did five jumps a day that's 15 dollars more for the day. That's small potatoes. No, something else is causing them to quit and they are using this as an excuse. I believe they are quiting because of the dumb canopy collisions happening with greater regularity. I believe they are quiting because of the stupid jump plane crashes every year. I believe that they see people who are supposed to be in charge turn a blind eye to a problem jumper who then becomes a crater or causes someones else to be a crater. I believe that people get tired of seeing jumpers disregard people's safety when they cut their legs off hitting a bridge on a stunt in front of little kids. Etc.... You get my point. They don't know where the next yahoo is coming from and they don't want to be the next target. They paid 150-180 bucks to come out and do their first tandem then probably spent a lot to get certified and equipped. And 15 dollars more a day caused them to quit jumping all together? Sorry, I'm not buying it even if they are saying it. There is something more at work here. And it is the total lack of collective safety minded focus in this industry. We're still light years behind on canopy control education MANDATORY for anyone getting a new canopy off student status. But...I must say good luck to you all as I hope this industry stays safe and grows again. Chris Schindler www.diverdriver.com ATP/D-19012 FB #4125
